Have been doing some research, and am seriously looking at the reo family, but i must say i am a bit intimidated, have read the users guides, what you need if your new, etc. . . .. yikes . .. i am SO not a technical person, can barely even use a screwdriver . . lol . . . i will admit, although i';m not proud to, that half of the stuff i have read has me so confused, im thinking i would screw this thing up big time!
so, could someone like me set this thing up?

thanks, in advance . . .

You would be surprised how easy it is to use. Nothing to set up except filling the bottle (enclosed in the mod) with your favorite juice, put the battery in, screw on a carto or atty, vape! Super simple. I think it is much more user friendly than any other mod, Ego included! Don't feel intimidated, if you have questions they will be answered here quickly, and Rob includes an instruction sheet with your REO.

Absolutely!

Fill the bottle with liquid, pop in a battery, screw on an atomizer or cartomizer and that's it. You can even use the same atomizer or cartomizer you're using now, it's the same size connection.

For me, it's simpler than the eGo, I'd given up cartridges as a lost cause long ago and have dripped for the past year. That's outright dangerous when driving, and annoying when you just want a pull or two late at night and have to turn on the lights to feed the atomizer. A quick squeeze on the bottle instead is a big improvement.

You can venture off and try different variations in atomizers because the battery (batteries...the mini & Grand take different sizes) has more oompf than the one in the eGo. But you don't have to if you aren't comfortable at first.

Jill just let me start by saying I'm a noobie too and i just recently got my 1st Reo Grande and I'm a bit of a research freak but my wife was sweating me to hurry up and purchase a device any device so i settled on a KR808MF and after a few days of use and more research and all these dam Remnants braggin about their dam Reo's I decided screw it I'm gonna buy and i will say it was a little overwhemming at 1st but I just followed the recommendations on what to get and put it all together last nite in about 3 min and let me tell you it was super simple and first thing this morning I pack up my KR808 and I bet I never touch it again. The Reo is really that dam good! And super easy no constantly have to charged batteries and filling up your cartos etc etc just push the button and goooooooo! Hope this helps! The hardest part now is deciding on who has the best juice

Yes jill and welcome! :) It only seems overwhelming because we have tried to include anything you might possibly need. The simplest way to look at it is the same as any other e-cig except the battery is removeable and the juice is inside the REO, just waiting for you to give a slight squeeze to rewet your atomizer or cartomizer. (no leaks or napkins, YAY)

The most common problem people have starting out is keeping the atomizer wet without flooding. This is an issue with all e-cigs to one degree or another. If you are an experienced dripper, then it is fairly easy to pick up. You just squeeze the juice bottle a little when you would otherwise drip. If you have been using carts or cartomizers, the Boge 2ohm cartomizer works great on a REO. Just give the juice bottle a little squeeze about every 15-20 hits.

What are you using now, and what are you looking for in your REO?

I'm a complete tool when it comes to anything electrical/mechanical, and I LOVE my REO's.
All you really need is a Reo, batteries, and charger, cartomizers or atty's, and juice. That's it.

I actually think it's the best ecig for those of us who aren't technical because with my Grand I set it up, and only really have to fiddle with the battery and juice every other day. Much easier than an Ego, or anything else really.

Right now I've got the Ego 650 mah, i hate carts - so i go between dripping, which i'm still not that great at :> or cartomizers, i''ve been using the mega carts from FSA and i really do like them, but so hard to not overfill, i'm still making a mess half the time . . . and what happens when i make a mess and get frustrated??? you guessed it, i hit the analogs . . ugh . . .they don't even taste good, but it's the ease of use for me . . . i have cut back from 3 packs a day down to one a day, since i started vaping 2-3 months ago, so that is good, but i'd like to do much better, and i can see my problem lies in the "ease of use" category, for sure.
As with so many of us in these tough economic times, cost is certainly an issue, but i've never had a problem paying for quality - instead of paying for mistakes over and over again.
We have an anniversary vacation planned for this December, and i soooooo want to be prepared, since we'll be on a cruise, and the less fuss I have, the better.
I guess the next question is, do i do the grande, or the mini??? I went all out the 1st time, going with an ego, and i'm so glad i did, as I am a chain vaper, and battery life is important to me. Most of my money now goes towards the never ending quest for the perfect juice (lol) and the perfect?? cartomizer/tank/atty or combination therof. And of course, i'm supposed to be putting money away for the vacation . . . . oops . . . . lol
Anyhoo, all advice/suggestions appreciated.

kind regards,
jill

Personally, since battery life is an issue, and you need to be able to chain vape to get off cigs, I think you should start with the REO Grand and Boge 2ohm cartos. Order 2 or 3 AW IMR 18650 batteries and a WF-188 charger, which will give you the ability to charge 3v batteries if you want try try 6v vaping later. Add a cheap multimeter and a drip tip (if you don't already have some) and you are good to go.

Hi Jill :) and welcome to the reo forum! You won't be dissapointed with either the grand or the mini.

My first reo was a mini after using eGo's too and I LOVE my mini. Its the perfect size for small hands to grip and feels very comfortable. I find I'm about a 3ml a day vaper so filling the bottle in the morning before heading out the door got me through the day no problems. The 14500 battery lasts a couple of hours longer than the eGo battery (well, with my vaping style anyway....), so I found the need to carry an extra battery with me. But the 14500 battery is close in size to a regular AA battery so to carry around a spare one of those is pretty hassle free.

I just got my grand 2 weeks ago and love the bigger battery life and bottle. I can go a full 2 days sometimes without having to refill or change up the battery. But since the grand is slightly bigger and heavier than the mini so it doesn't fit as easily into my pocket. I've had no problems holding my grand but that could just be because I put a death grip on it - yes, it means that much to me.

But this is just my opinion and experience with both. Hopefully the reo vets can chime in with their views too and give you a more educated suggestion on which size would be best.

I have a Grand and a Mini. For me I prefer the Mini for it's size and the fact that it is really quite lite in weight compared to the Grand. I have a little zipper pouch with an extra battery, carto & bottle of juice I just drop in my purse and I'm good for at least 8-10 hours. The extra carto and juice are only if my current carto goes bad, not because I normally would need them. Which ever you decide on, I'm sure you will be pleased with it. Mmmmmm a cruise with a REO, Nice!!!

Ive been vaping for about 6 months now and have 3 mods but just ordered a reo mini about 2 weeks ago and since ive gotten it i really dont use any of my other mods. I have to agree with everyone else! The reo is the simplest mod ive used to date! Just fill the bottle and your good to go. Its very user friendly and ive never flooded it... Its great you'll love it!! Good luck!

Hi Jill, congrats on cutting down smoking so much. I can't advise on Reos, but I have kind of settled in on cartomizers. The most important thing is to keep them wet, and they won't burn. Also, understanding that there is a little coil (that is the heater) in the center of the fill, and if you drip-fill it around the edges, it takes a few or several minutes for it to soak in.

Until you get the hang of filling, something I "found" (though I'm sure others have, I just haven't read it) is to keep several cartos out for each flavor, and store them battery down in a shot glass. Fill them, top them, whatever, and put them back in the shot glass. If you get excess, it will stay in the shot glass. Fill them the night before, put a few more drops in the morning if you're not sure. A quick wipe of the battery threads and you are ready to go.

If you have the same juice in them all, you could potentially pour the excess out, or suck it up to be reused. There are lots of carto filling techniques, and several threads here devoted to that.

My recommendation is to go with the REO Grand, Jill. Also, to help you along at first, use it with what you know already if you're concerned about any learing curve. I'll explain............

First REO I had was the original wooden REO, it is the biggest of all the REOs and it wasn't too big for me to use or carry around and I'm a petite woman. It was also big enough to get me off the cigarettes for good, it had the power to compete with analogs where the ego didn't for me. The Grand will give you that power, it uses the same battery and juice bottle that the original uses.

When I first got the REO, I hated attys with a purple passion! Couldn't use them no matter what I did, always ended up with burnt throat and terrible taste in my mouth. I used cartos for my egos but popped an atty on my REO when I got it to see if it'd finally have luck with 'em. Nope, still had burning or flooding issues and almost threw my REO in the drawer but sooooo glad I didn't! Instead, I pulled out my old faithful cartos and put one on my REO and I was up and running with ease and enjoying the fact that no longer did I have to fiddle with filling those dang things. I could just give my REO juice bottle a good push and it'd fill the carto for me and whenever I felt the flavor decline, it'd push it again. With the carto, I was familiar with it and it made for very easy REO use for me. I knew what the carto sounded and felt like when it was full of juice just by drawing on it, that enabled me to judge how and when to push the juice bottle without flooding or burning it and finding that sweet spot with the REO was quick.

It was the 18650 battery, cartos, and the REOs ability to fill and power them easily that finally broke the hold that cigarettes had over me for 30 years, it was truly my saving grace. :)

When I was over the analogs for good and my REO was second nature to me, then I got the mini and worked up to LR attys and high drain batteries and the mini became the bomb! LOL

Trust me when I tell you, Jill, you cannot be anymore ignorant about anything ecig than I was, I held the title of Queen of the damned when it came to them and still do on certain things. I just made a post a little bit ago begging for help with a multi meter and thank God for the folks here and pics from Lisa, otherwise, I'd have a gadget collecting dust on my dresser. LOL

And if you decide to get the Grand, if you need batteries and a charger, send me a pm with your addy and send them out to you. I have plenty of both and will be more than happy to help you on your way with your REO.

Thank you ALL for such great info and advice - i too am a petite person, barely pushing 5'1", so I wondered about the size thing too . . . yes my dream is to get off analogs FOr GOOD - I too love the cartos, and hate fiddling with attys. I use a FS mega carto, and I drip fill it from the battery end, let it sit a bit, roll it around, then fill a bit more, and i am good to go. Im getting used to telling when it needs juice. Glad to know i can use these on the reo - i vape several different flavors at different times of day, and have little colored stickers on my 4 cartos so i know what is what. Tammy, i may take you up on that offer . . . you are so kind!

This reveals a bit more of my oddness than a reasonable person ought, but I took the dimensions from this thread:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/161169-reo-measurements-parts-terminology.html

and literally cut little mock-ups out of paper. With much gratitude for whomever took the time to do all that measuring, having that information made the final decision easy. Changing out batteries more often wasn't all that big a deal, the mini was the better size for me.

I did the same thing when I ordered my mini. Since I'm in canada I had a pretty long wait to get it, so I made myself a 3D cardboard model of it. Once I got my mini I did a comparison to the model I made and the real thing and the size was 100% accurate. Thanks to whoever posted the sizes of the mini and grands :)
