Hi. First off if there's already a thread for this I apologize for making a new one. I'm very very new to vaping. As in I've only used the kits from a gas station. (I know sad don't remind me lol) I wanted to start getting more into it, but I honesty don't know much about it. I was wondering about resistance and ohms and what they are and how it connects to vaping. Please excuse my silly questions but any help and teachings would be greatly appreciated :) thanks an advance and hope to make some new friends on here soon! :)

Hi and welcome! I'm new as well and on day 18 of being smoke free! I suggest you start out slow and not worry yet about rebuilding and that aspect of vaping. You can learn more as you go along. I highly suggest you visit your local vape shop and see the different varieties of vaporizers they offer and choose one that's right for you. I just started out simple and got a kamry X6 multi volt 1300 mah battery. It works great for me. I can vape all day without needing to recharge. You might want to take a look at the egos they are simple and easy. But I suggest a multi volt so you can raise and lower the volts to your taste. I also suggest a bigger battery start out with at least a 1300mah or higer so it will last. Go online and look at all the different options available. You will find something right for you. I hope this helps. I wish you the best.

I haven't completely given up cigarettes as of yet but I'm hoping to. I have a basic Eco I believe lol. It's just not doing it for me. I wanted something maybe stronger or better but I have no idea where to start. I think a new place opened up recently and I will oh check it out :) hopefully I find something good :) thanks for the welcome

Rememeber its not all about the vv or vw the juice has a lot to do with how it hits! A larger pg % along with a higher nic mg will hit harder than a higher vg % with lower nic mg. Try a few juices with different values. However I do suggest getting vv or vw to "fine tune" to your liking.

Try a different style of tank or topper before changing your battery. To **SOME** extent - a battery is a battery. Finding the tank/topeer you prefer most and then progressing to battery changes will get you *much* further as far as finding satisfactory vape. I can go to an eGo and be OK with it in an urgent situation because I know what topper I prefer for good performance.

What are you using on your ego battery now?

What are your smoking habits? If you smoke a lot you may want a higher nic level. I was 3/4 pack of an ultra light a day smoker and started with an 18mg juice 70/30 PG/VG..it was too much for me. I do well with a 12mg juice at a 50/50 PG/VG blend. I am new to this as well...and I use an 510 EGO style VV (variable voltage) battery and a Kanger Protank II Mini with a 1.8ohm coil. It works for me...though I do want a bigger battery (not stronger) so my batt will last all day.

Do you like a throat hit? If so, a higher nic and higher PG blend will provide that. If you do not, definitely go with a 50/50 PG/VG or higher VG blend. Lower nic will help that as well, but you want to chose your nic level at a high enough level so that you don't revert back to smoking.

I actually smoke more than I should. About a pack a day. I had a 24mg juice. I'm not sure if it was me or the juice wasn't great but it just wasn't doing it for me. I don't have a vv device so maybe that could be part of the problem as well. I'm not sure what ohm is or how it effects the juice though. How do you go about DIY juices as I haven't heard of it until now.

Think of it like a light bulb. If you use a 25 watt bulb (high resistance) you get a dim light. If you use a 100 watt bulb (low resistance) you get a bright light.

That way you make the connection between resistance and wattage. The correct wattage for you is what you are looking for. Changing the resistance (or the voltage) is how you get the wattage that you want.

Lower ohm coils (lower resistance) will require a lower voltage to vape. Mine is a 1.8ohm and I use my VV batt at about 3.2 to 3.7 volts depending on the liquid. If you don't know the ohm of your coil I suggest that you find out. You could be using a too low voltage...or too high. Does your liquid just taste bad...or does it taste burnt? A lot of the non VV batteries will be too high a volt for a 1.8 ohm coil which is pretty common. It will cause the liquid to taste burnt. I can't use my non VV batt on my 1.8 coils...it makes them all taste burnt.
