vaping can be done cheaply; BUT do do so you must either have a great deal of willpower OR:

1) Find a good website that offers basic equipment and juice at a reasonable price (the one Strigoi linked to is one such). shop only the one website - do not go to any other were you will be tempted to buy other PV's and great tasting other ejuices until you have gone deep in debt.

2) Stop reading this forum! Everyone keeps talking about the great new product they have found for a low price and before you know it you are feeling you just got to have it and before you know it you are deeper and deeper in debt. :(

Why would you write stop reading this forum???? It has really helped me.
Does it not help you???

I think the best thing going is greenhouseone.com eGo for $49, you essentially get two full e-cig's. Get a pack of carto's for $10 another $30 on a few juices and your just approaching the price of buying a carton (even online). I have not yet gotten mine (its in the mail) but I got 50ML of juice total with it and I'm figuring thats about a carton of cigs. So look at it that way and its literary the same price as smoking a carton of analogs.... why not switch if its the same price? Then only gets cheaper.

Consider looking through the classified section, too.

Classifieds and swaps

I've bought quite a few things to try there and haven't had a negative experience yet.

There are also a couple of feedback stickies at the top of the page so if you do find something you're interested in you might be able to find out what kind of buying experiences others have had with a particular member.

I think what kuska means is that, because of all the great posts for newer and better equipment as well as all the posts about great tasting juices a person could spend a small fortune buying the latest juices etc. Hence the only way to vape cheaply is to avoid the forums.:)

I'm doing the "pyramid tea bag" mod and seem to get 20+ hits at on my 4.8v mod, a few more on the ego.
I drink the tea, than do the mod with them after rinsing... its a double header!

Slightly off topic here, but do you get the taste of the tea in the bag? I just bought a box today and killed 2 teabags without brewing the tea -- but I bought Chai flavour just in case I can use the teabags before subjecting them to dissection. Chai is pretty aromatic though so I'm worried it'll seep into the flavour of the juice. (Although that might not be a bad thing. :D)

Vaping cheaply can be done even when you're rampantly addicted to these forums. Look at me! I haven't spent much at all and I've made over 1000 posts in under 2.5 months, ha ha.

Basically, I do a lot of PIF'ing. What comes around goes around.

I've had the folks there save my .... when I was out of supplies, and now I've gotten to a point where I can do that for other people. It's a great system, and you can really enjoy vaping and try new things for no more than the cost of shipping.

Hey Violy, you will need to get up to 5 posts to join other groups and post on other forums.

But once you do we'll be glad to have you. The links posted by myself and others will help you get started for cheap, and the most likely "waste" of money you'll have is juice that is the wrong nic strength for you (it's trial and error, no way to avoid it unless you just get lucky). So you can throw that up on PIF and get stuff more suited to you instead. :)

I know exactly what you mean. I am INCREDIBLY broke. So broke that I had to cut my smoking budget down to $50 a month, by buying bulk tobacco and rolling it myself.

I couldn't afford to waste money. Whatever I got, I had to make it work for me, because I didn't have the financial ability to make mistakes.

I have now been vaping for 2 months, and I have spent about $150 total. And not all of that was strictly necessary.

I bought my kit for $35 (Kr808D-1), and it got me off cigarettes the first day.

I bought a DIY juice set-up for about $50, and I still have supplies from that original purchase to make juice with.

I got an extra battery, extra cartomizers, and a PCC (about $35 all togehter) to keep me going, and to charge my batteries when I'm out (a PCC is not necessary).

I have bought some juice here and there, but I haven't spent much more than $30 on it.

And I got involved on the PIF board, sending stuff to other people and them sending stuff to me, and not only do I feel like I'm doing something positive for this community, but I can continue to vape without spending a ton of money.

You CAN vape on a budget, you CAN make it work for you, and it IS worth it! Don't get discouraged.

For kits, the best starter models are the Kr808D-1 and the Joye 510.

I chose the Kr808D-1 because it has longer battery life, and a warmer, stronger throat hit. As a full-flavor (sometimes filterless) smoker, that was important to me. It is a 2-piece system with a battery and a cartomizer.

The 510, on the other hand, has better vapor production and the taste is "lighter" and cleaner. It is a 3-piece system with a battery, atomizer, and carts.

Either of these models will work well for you, and either one can be bought for under 50 bucks.

I bought my kit at ElectroNicStix and had a great experience. They also sell juice on the site. I have heard good things about the Boss juice.

Buy an extra battery or two, and extra cartomizers/atomizers and carts, and you're set to get started.

For nicotine levels, you will just have to experiment. Unfortunately it is hard to guess what will work for you, since it doesn't always correlate perfectly with how you smoked. I would recommend you buy small bottles in 12mg, 18mg, and 24mg, and try each. When you find the one that works for you, you can simply mix the others down.

For me, I go through about 60ml of juice in a month.

Please ask if you have more questions - there are ways to make this work for you.

Hey Mistress N. can I ask where you purchase your DIY supplies from and what were all the materials you included in your first purchase? I need to spend less with premade juice asap..Thanks.

Thanks again for the replies, you've given me hope!!!! :)

I'm going to check out Pay it Forward and the sites you all posted here tomorrow at work.

Hoping to be smoke free by October!!

Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Good luck to you man, and it can be done w/out the "Gadget Addiction" like Elendil has mentioned. Just do some research on here, figure what will work best for you. I still say, that sit and go PT(or two like my friend) is enough to cover all your needs, for not much capital.

Here are a few basics. An E cigarette is made up of 3 parts. A battery, an atomizer and a cartridge. You buy nicotine juice to fill up the cartridge and it gives you anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour of vaping. When you inhale the nicotine juice is vaporized by the atomizer creating vapor.

For beginners to experts the best stuff is listed below.

The Janty Ego is the best e cigarette on the market right now. It sells for $79.95 and has a 6 month warranty on the atomizer they usually die after about a month so its good to have a backup. A backup atomizer is $16. And they will ship you out a new one before you even ship the old one back. Janty is the highest recommended company with an outstanding track record for excellent customer service and top notch products. An Ego battery lasts anywhere from 4-9 hours depending on how much you use it.

Janty World - Janty World Main site.
Janty USA - eGo SET Janty Ego Kits. TAWB Means no warranty, not recommended.
Janty USA - DURA/EGO Spare Atomizers. TAWA means not warrantied, not recommended.

Now on to the juice. The best juice I have come across in almost a year of vaping is FreedomsmokeUSA. Freedomsmokeusa juice produces more vapor than any other brand and have the most accurate best tasting flavors and the best customer service. Their juice is made by Flavor Art which was created by a biochemist with his masters. They have a toll free telephone number and will take the time to answer any questions you may have about the juice. They also respond very promptly to your emails and make the juice right as you order it. I recommend ordering samples first to see what you like, the cost of a 3ml sample is $2.25. The price of the juice is 30ml for $15. The average consumption is anywhere from 2-4 30ml bottles per month. Juice comes in strengths of 0mg to 36mg. 0mg meaning no nicotine 36mg meaning the highest nicotine. Most people start at a higher dosage of nicotine and work their way down to lower levels to eventually ween themselves off of nicotine altogether. Or some just enjoy vaping and don't plan on quitting vaping so they choose their desired nicotine level. 24mg is the most popular mg strength of nicotine. The E Liquid is made of 3 ingredients. Nicotine, Vegetable Glycerin or Propylene Glycol. Commonly referred to as VG and PG. VG based liquid gives more vapor and less throat hit. PG gives more throat hit and less vapor. Juice is often mixed 50/50 to give good vapor and good throat hit.

FreedomSmokeUSA Best juice vendor.

Spare parts you will need. Blue foam and tweezers. Blue foam runs .75 cents for a package of pre cut blue foam in a package of 10. Tweezers are .75 cents. Polyfill is what comes standard in the cartridges and it stops producing vapor after a couple refills and is really ineffective. Blue foam lasts anywhere from about 2 weeks to a month. The tweezers you will need for taking the blue foam out of the cartridge and refilling it.

StrictlyEjuice.com, Flavor Shop! carries blue foam and tweezers.

If you followed these steps you are ready to start vaping.

I bought my flavorings (2 6ml bottles, and one 15ml bottle - about 6 bucks all together), PG for diluting (120ml for $4), a syringe, a couple pipettes, and a couple empty bottles, from One Stop DIY Shop.

I bought 60ml or 60mg nic juice from MyFreedomSmokes. The reason for that was that One Stop only sellf 48mg nic juice, and I wanted something that would go a bit further. I still haven't killed the whole bottle, 2 months on. :)

What a nice gesture you made. If I were the OP, I would jump on this. Shipping will only be 2 or 3 bucks and you can use your money for liquids and extras.

I'll "pay it forward" and donate a couple 510 batts and the charger if u take care if the shipping. I found a place to get cheap attys and 901 carts, which fit nicely and seem to work quite well so far.
    if interested PM me.
Buzzy hit it right on the head, its easy to get cought up in the mods, the first one i built ( in my avatar) was pretty cheap to build and last a LOOOOONG time on a set of standard AA 2800 mAh batts.
I have plans on building at least 3 more mods, 2 with 14500 bats (the nicostick), at least one with 18650 batts (looking for the perfect cigar tube for house it in), something "crazy" with another 18650 bat, and maybe a bottom feeder (juicebox, might call it the "catfish")
