Hello FellowQuitters,
I just wanted to drop a quick line to introduce myself and say hello. I just stumbledacross this forum yesterday and after spending a few hours looking around, Ithought it was time to register because I do and will have questions andcomments to share.
Ok, Ive been asmoker for 34+ years. Ive quit twice during that time for about a year eachtime, only to pick the habit back up both times. The last time I tried to putthe smokes away was probably 5 years ago. Since then I came to the realization thatI will always be a smoker till the day I die. I was going to play the odds andhoped I was one of the few people that lived a long life while smoking. I had no intention of giving up my habit. I came to this conclusionwhen the cigarette tax doubled/tripled a couple of years and I found myselfstill buying the damn things. Figured I should just come to terms with myaddition. I have gave up worse additions then cigarettes in the past and feltthere where much worse additions to have other than cigarettes .
So, this past Wednesdaymy eighth grandchild was born and that following Friday our previously emptynest had become full again. Since we have a newborn back in the home, I knew mywife and I would have to start smoking outside for the next several weeks or atleast through winter. So in preparation I bought my wife a V2 starter kit. Itwas a spare of the moment decision and thankfully there is a vapor store in oursmall town that just opened for business back in the spring. We have heard somegood things about the e-cigs but mostly bad things. I knew of a hand few ofpeople trying them but all had ultimately gave them up for analogs. Mostly theexcuse was they all found themselves spending more $ on vaping then they didwhen they started. Ive often pondered this excuse and remember thinking tomyself at the time that even if vaping was costing as much as analogs isnt itstill better?
Either way, wewas simply hoping that vaping was going to be a temporary fix from smoking inthe home during the winter months or until the newborn grandchild moved into theirnew home. Needless to say of course, my wife and I were pleasantly surprised bythe fact that from that Friday evening until that Sunday evening we both hadonly smoked 3 analogs apiece. I was so impressed by these things that I boughtmyself a V2 starter kit that Sunday evening and its been 2 days since I firedup a real cigarette. So heres to hoping that my wife and I have finally stoppedpoisoning ourselves.
