Hi everyone! First post, so go easy :). I'm Mop, and I've been vaping about a week. My brother-in-law gave me 4 rn4081 minicigs to help me quit smoking for my new year's resolution as he gave up on nicotine altogether.

I fell in love with it. Well, I fell in love with one battery, because it worked flawlessly. The others were terrible! They were really temperamental, I'd say they would only work on about 10% of draws, and when they did work, they'd often cut out too early. So I decided to fix them, but couldn't find the specific info I needed after an hour on the 'net. I figure I'm a bright guy, and I could learn through experimentation. I decided the best course of action was to:

1. rap it briskly against my desk
2. pour vinegar down the hole
3. jam a wire down the hole

I later learned why this was a perfect storm of idiocy, but whatever, I'm no electrician. Amazingly though- it worked! I speculate that it was the wire that did the trick, I managed to trip the vacuum switch and somehow knock the crusties off, or push it into place, or something. Whatever it was, it worked on all 3 units without electrocuting me and they are all performing properly now.

As a disclaimer, I don't recommend anyone do this. Maybe someone who knows what the inside of the battery looks like can explain why this worked, or maybe someone knows a safer method than using a wire? Anyway, I figured I'd post this as my introduction so you could all laugh at how stupid I am.

Hi Mop! Sounds like what I did when I had auto batteries (they'd stick, and I'd either rap them on the table or stick a paper clip wire down into them). What ever works and keeps you vaping!

Sounds like you are doing well with it otherwise. When you are ready for a new model, reading this first can help you decide on another model http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...strated-guide-e-cigs-parts-1-through-6-a.html

Many go for the 510, which is manual (a button, so no more interior control or cut off) and has great vapor. Small carts and short battery life can be overcome with modification of cartridge stuffing materials and the battery comes in a Mega longer size that will give you 4 hours. A battery modification unit kicks the 510 into gear for an all day (or two) vape.

Just let us know if you need help. Great bunch of folks on this forum.

Thanks! So it is common to use a wire to clear these? I guess it wasn't that much of a mistake then, I figured it was a bad idea because someone later told me I could have gotten quite a shock that way, or damaged the battery.

Thanks for the advice, I've heard of the manual activations and I did decide to go ahead and get one. I forgot to mention I've already ordered another model (because I didn't think I was going to get my minis to work), but I ended up opting for the screwdriver. Hopefully it will work as well as the 510 you recommend- it's already in the mail now so I guess I'll find out how good it is pretty soon.

Welcome Mop! You will find that there are all sorts of seemingly idiotic things that people do to make their PVs work, and guess what, a lot of those things actually work! Even with all the info here, many of us don't know even a fraction of it, and will be given a link to a thread that covered whatever we were beating our heads against the wall about weeks earlier. If you got them vaping, whatever it was couldn't have been all that wrong or idiotic.

Your choice of the screwdriver was pretty bold for a newcomer! That is a favorite of many, and is supposed to vape like a beast, with very long batt life. I assume you ordered from Totally Wicked. A very good company that stands by their products. Most of my hardware is TW Titan 510.

Best of luck, and let us know how the screwdriver is!
