Well..... I think it's time to quit this nasty habit! I've been reading the threads, visiting supplier sites....sooooo much information (I believe I've entered the land of confusion)!!!

A little about my smoking habit:

About 1 pack a day ....sometimes more (depending if I'm on my computer all day) & smoke Va Slims Menthol 120's

I've looked an many of the different starter kits and the prices are so varied!! I've always been told you get what you pay for...is that true with e-cigs too? Ego-t starter kits are under $30 where Volt and Premium range from 50 - 100.

I'm definitely an instant gratification person who doesn't want to worry about batteries running out and all the other stuff (at least to start). Something easy to assemble (snap and go preferably...LOL), lots of vapor, reasonably priced and looks like a cigarette.

Would love any suggestions (what worked for you, best brands, best battery life....what accessories you can't live without, what nicotine I might need, etc) so I can get on the road to being smoke (and stink) free! (my kids will love you for it....as will I!)

TIA!! :)

Problem you have with cig style ecigs is the batteries don't last that long and you have to constantly fill cartos or buy pricey prefilled ones I found the easiest all around PV was from here Reosmods.com they're not cheap but theyre suuuuuper easy long-lasting batteries and hold a bottle of juice 3ml or 6ml depending on which you choose not to mention there's a sub forum here and everyone is extremely helpful and lightning fast to respond to your questions. Don't get me wrong the ego's and such have a huge following here as well. I just like being able to fill my bottle with juice every other day for the Mini and maybe twice a week if I'm using the grand YMMV

As a huge REO fan (I own seven) they are a great product but I understand that for a new user they me be a little daunting. That said, I don't think you can really go wrong starting with an eGo style model. Yes, it takes a little getting used to due to size but you get a great small battery and reliable atomizers and besides the batteries, the rest of the parts will fit on your next model.

Welcome to the forum! You're making a healthier lifestyle decision and we're more than happy to help you in any way we can.

1st: You're at the computer a lot, so I would suggest an eGo PT (passThrough). The eGo PT lets you vape while it's charging as well as letting you vape when you unplug and go. (most PT's are pc vapable only). They cost around 25 bucks and can be found almost anywhere. Goodprophets is a decent source. eGo PT or the larger version: ego-T-PT

With the PT you'll want to collect cartomizers. The Boge's are a great way to get started. Most prefer the 2.0 version.

You'll also need some juice.

======================
or:

You can start with a Volt from SmokeessImage.com. The Volt is a nice little eCig that keeps your vape at a 3.7v until it needs charging. Unfortunately, they do need charging every 3.5-4 hours. However, this works out nicely because we know it's time to change our carto so it doesn't risk getting burned. These are 808's, but they are a powerful little 808!
They also have a PT but the PT only works while plugged in.
I like their new drip resistant automatic batteries. You'll also need a charging case (PCC) for those times you are on the go.

===========================
Either ecig will be a good one to get you started. You'll need a miminum of 2 batteries, so that you can charge one while you're vaping the other. You'll also need at least 10 cartos so you can refill every night and have them at the ready the next morning and still have some fresh ones on standby. (to make sure you don't run out between deliveries).

Chances are that you'll love vaping so much that you'll be back within a month to buy your backup kit so that you never have to buy another pack of smokes again. Which means you can sit back and relax with your vape as you browse the forums and stores for your next awesome kit.... and then those accessories like tanks and drip tips and so on.

It's always a good idea to devote oneself to one type of family, for interchangeable parts, but until you KNOW which family that is going to be, I would suggest trying the faved 510 and 808 families. Either one.

Good luck!

Only the slim 2-piecels like Volt and V4L are simple with prefilled cartomizers and just screw on and vape. Keep the carto damp with liquid and get maybe 4-7 days use out of each depending on how much you vape.

The big battery models generally use blank cartomizers you fill because most are 510 threading and 510 is a 3-piece model line though most prefer to use it as a 2-piece with cartomizers.

Hiya Jwalls39,

Or, you can save yourself a bunch of money from stepping up every week/month when your not satisfied with the smaller type e-cigs and just buy a provari or Darwin. This will put your right up top with the best units available on the market today and skip all the beginner stuff. These two units will supply the power you will need to run ANY cartomizer or Atomizer you purchase, and there are all sorts you can try, these will also give you hours and hours of run time without having to charge your batter every hour. So instead of purchasing a bunch of different ecigs and spending a ton of money like most of us do over the course of our first year you skip all of that and save a bunch of money, though these units are more $ you will still save, and end up having some of the best units to start out with, the Reo Grand is also a good PV too. Beginners dont always have to start with beginner starter kits and many get frustrated with there poor performance and go back to the stinky cigarettes. Do yourself a favor and investigate well, as you said you get what you pay for just like anything else.:2cool:

I agree with pmoraldo about the cig style ecigs, been doing this about 4 months now and I started with the Njoy from 7eleven and the batteries would only last me about 1 ½ hrs so about a month into it I bought a mega battery it lasted about 2 ½ hrs being home and vaping a lot I had batteries on charge all the time.

So about 3 months into vaping I decided to buy the Ego with 2 1000mah bats and what a difference, the bats last me about 1 ½ days each and the experience is just so much better then the cig style ecigs. So much better that on cyber Monday I bought another set for a back up and loving it.

I just started a month ago, and I LOVE my Kgo. It was $44.00 for two complete setups. Get yourself some LR cartomizers too and don't bother using the cartridges that come with the kit. The customer service is great there, just call or shoot him an email, and he answers the phone and emails quickly KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit

Welcome to ECF! The final decision on what you buy for your starter kit is of course yours. But, one thing that I'm pretty sure everyone here will agree on is to drink PLENTY of water. Yes I know, you dislike water, lol, I do to. But vaping will dehydrate you quit a bit. Also, drinking water between vapes can help to clean the pallet and retain the flavor of your juice.

I'll also recommend the KGO, only slightly fatter than the Volt and about the same length as a Volt with XL batts...as a pk/day smoker, it will probably you last well into the second day...the low resistance(LR) Boge 2ohm cartomizers are sooooo much better than the "T" type tanks which take a bit of fiddling to work properly and even then, they somewhat "mute" the vaping experience................

I'm w/ MWA and Hairball - would've saved a ton of money if I'd just gotten what i needed from the start. Go Darwin or ProVari and you'll make 1 investment in stead of upgrading till you get a good experience. Reo is also tops in my book for bottom feeders.

I felt the same way about "looking like a cigarette" until my look alike couldn't give me the longevity and strength I needed.

Some people are totally content w/ the Riva or Volt and others aren't so is just my experience.

Hi jwalls,

If it really must look like a real cig, just get a few extra batteries so you have back up back ups, then do all of your charging at home when you have the time. Also grab different strength cartos so you can find a dose that satisfys you. Once you are confident you are going to stay off the analogs, you will be back here asking about bigger models, and that is just how it goes, there is a learning curve that we all had to go through to get to where we are. If you stick with the first one for about 2 weeks, you will have broken even with the money side of things so you wont feel bad about buying another PV and you will always have your little ecig as an emergency back up or to take out with you if you dont want to be seen with a big one, or to let your friends try it.

I agree that an Ego is a good way to start off. Instead of going with an Ego-T, I'd say to get an Ego battery with a cartomizer that you like. I'm content with the Boge cartomizers. :D Also... I've noticed that a lot of people, including myself, have the knack of wanting to upgrade soon after getting an initial setup to a Provari/Infinity Pro/etc so you might just want to skip the step of getting an Ego.. :p

hi jwalls39 & welcome to ECF..just a rundown of my usage on e-cig..i am not tech savvy and also an ID10t on my PC..i always look for easy to understand and do things properly..in the 8 months vapeing under my belt,i am no veteran nor a novice..i peruse this ECF daily learning as i go along..over the period i owned 4 different sets of commercial e-cig starter kits..i spent a lot but to me any $$ spent on e-cig is worth it.

so i now have what i think the right PV set up,ticks all the boxes for me..i need e-cig to easy, fill & refill..battery life that last & knowing the status of the battery helps and the cartomizer that hold for me at least 1-2 hrs without refill (1.3 ml can last me that) if i gtg i grab my PV and knowing it will have enough battery life on it and my micromizer(carto) i can see at a glance, will have enough liquid to vape during my trip out..i high recommend newbies to get this set up..least problematic as i have with others starter kits i own..so in photos say a thousand words..this is mine..hope U get to find yrs..regards mafig
