Dear All,

First of all i wanted to thank the forum creators and contributors as this seems to be a source of a lot of info.

Unfortunately I am a newbie and most posts don't make too much sense to me yet.

Background:
I've smoked quite heavily for 20 years (average 1.5 pack a day) and I'm based in Sydney Australia.
For Xmas I bought myself a green smoke kit to have a go.
So far i could not be happier. I haven't smoked analog since.
I'm currently smoking the GS menthol ice with I think the 650mAH battery.

Based on what I've read on the forum it is possible to get much cheaper supply and try quite a few different brands.

What I'm after:

1 - Something cheaper, don't mind paying a bit more for quality but yeah definitely something cheaper
2 - Something that looks like an analog.
3 - Something same size or smaller than my current GS
4 - Battery life at least as good as my current GS

Thanks for your feedback and feel free to guide me towards an existing thread.

Thanks again,

Matt

Welcome to the forum and Congrats on staying off the cigs!

I would suggest checking out the Volt by Smokeless Image. They are cigalike size, but at about half the price of green smoke. A lot of people rave about them.

Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

Looks like the Greensmoke are 270 & 160mah batteries (long & short respectively).

Volt only states for their short (65mm) at 220mah.

Other than that they should function very similar.

If you're not entirely locked onto the idea of cigalikes, then looking into the eGo style can be worth it. Larger batteries equate to longer running times. Plus the option of variable voltage.

Hi Matt.
Those Greensmokes are expensive after a while aren't they. I used them back ages ago. Battery life wasn't bad. I think you have the 65mm maybe - I'm not aware of them doing a 650mah.
If you want something that looks like an analog, then you choose between 510 or 808D-1 threading. Those are the main two. Greensmoke use an obscure thread that is hard to match with things.

I went from Greensmoke to Smokeless Image myself:
Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

Smokeless Image are 808 threaded.

I still have them. The 78mm are a little longer but still analog-ish, and give a bit more battery life. They also do a bigger X2 - about sharpie pen size.
If you want analog size the Volts from SI are good. Ship reasonably quickly to downunder as well. people is Aus use them - it was an Aussie vaper's video that got me interested in them.

I don't know of a 510 analog size that is good - some-one may.

Like everyone said so far, if you want longer vape time, a 650mAh Volt X2 from SI would be a good start. I've heard they are releasing a variable voltage one this week some time, so it may be worth the wait if you are interested in something like that. Also the X2 clearomizer will pair perfectly and will let you go longer without having to refill

I would jump to an ego starter kit with the clearomizers. They are like 60 bucks on madvapes. They are the size of cigars and have 1100 mah. You could try some juice from there too. I would suggest using the 1.8 ohm head on the clearomizer. After your initial purchase it would be probably $30-40 a month to keep juice and atomizer heads stocked up.
I know you want to keep them small but the vaping experience is way better with the egos. ( I've used both.) There is nothing proprietary exept the charger on them too. Way cheaper in the long run and higher quality. You'll be less likely to go back to analogs with the egos.

I am a very new vaper, and in fact, am still waiting for my first order so I can get started. So please take this with a huge grain of salt. I decided on the Joyetech eroll because of this thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/340059-joyetech-eroll.html it's a monster of thread. It started when the equipment was announced, before anyone actually tried it. I skipped to about 3/4 of the way through when I started to read it. But I think it fits what you are looking for, and on the last couple of pages is a link to a website offering a coupon that makes it about $40.

Thanks SO much for the feedback. I will give SI Volt a go for now. And might try the alternatives some of you proposed later on.

20 packs of Marlboro are $15 USD here in OZ so I can afford to try a few things out :)

Few questions about the volt:

FLAVOR:
Any of you guys have tried their Menthol Ice and/or Menthol Burst? Appreciate the feedback.

CARTOMIZER:
How many cartridges can i fill with 30 ml? is it like 10 cartridges? 3ml per cartridges?
How many times can i refill a blank on average?
I'm currently going through a little bit more than 1 GS cartomizer a day.

Also, i'd like to get some refillable cartomizers that look like real filters. Where should i look?
Should i look for 808 cartomizers? What resistance?
I will go with SI's black ones to start with anyway as I've read they are good.
Should i buy blanks or refill the ones sold full?

Sorry for the million questions... I'm quite excited about this next purchase :)

Thanks again,

Matt

I haven't tried their menthol.

A cartomizer holds around 1ml - so 30 ml is about 30 cartomizers worth.
On average I get about 8 refills with a blank cartomizer.

I'd use the Smokeless Image cartomizers to start with anyway - they are good ones.
If you buy 808 cartomizers you need 2.6-2.8 ohms with the Volts.

If you know what flavors you like you could buy their prefilled ones and refill with the same flavor. You could buy a sample pack of prefilled cartomizers - a lot of people do that.
Or by blank cartomizers - and buy small bottles from their Nicquid line:
Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | NicQuid Collections

Or do both. :)

For cartomizers that look like real filters, I found some earlier today - but I have never tried these and don't know what the vendor is like:
5pc KR808D-1 empty cartomizer-orange TopVapors.com

Smokeless Image have good cartomizers, so get some anyway. The coupon codes:
10VOLTECF for 10% off entire purchase

CompareOur808d for 15% off cartomizers only

One other thing - you may want to get one automatic and one manual battery - to try each out.

I think your standard carto holds approx 1ml of juice so you should get 30 complete fills on a 30ml bottle. One key thing to remember with cartos is you cant let them go empty before you refill otherwise you'll burn the filler which will wreck the carto. So in reality you will have more than 30 fills per 30ml bottle.

I would also recommend going with blanks and filling yourself. Much cheaper and more versatile than prefilled. As far as the ones that look like filters... IDK. Maybe somebody else can answer that for you.

I do believe that the Greensmoke is an 808 so if you want replacements for those batts you need 808 cartos. Id recommend low resistance for these as it will give you a little more power and a warmer vape.

If you are going to invest in a bigger battery then I would recommend getting 510 cartos as most devices from the eGo style on up use 510 connections.

For flavor..... SAMPLE PACKS SAMPLE PACKS SAMPLE PACKS. Everyone has different tastes and while the ELiquid section of ECF has a bunch of info ultimately you have to taste for yourself.

Finally check out this video:

Smokeless Image caromizers are bottom coil so are harder to burn - I've run my pretty dry sometimes and just refilled them - they were fine.

Greensmoke don't use standard 808 threading and are not compatible with the commonly sold 808 cartomizers. What vendors advertise as 808 is 808D-1 - which is what Smokeless Image are.
Greensmoke use 808D-2 - and they are not able to be used with standard 808 products.
I've used both and know this from experience too.
Smokeless Image have larger ego size batteries called X2s - and so do some other 808 vendors. SI are also about to release a variable voltage Volt Spinner.

Just placed my order... can't wait.

Anyone knows how long it takes to get to OZ roughly on standard international postage?

Thanks again all for the feedback,

Cheers,

Matt

Quickest I've had from them to NZ was six days. Sometimes a bit longer - ten days. It partly depends on your customs clearance and postal too. But they do ship pretty fast usually - so could be less than a week.
I know, waiting is exciting and awful at the same time.

I second this. I am very new to buying e-cigs online myself, but I had purchased an Eonsmoke cigarette from my local tobacco store and was fairly pleased with it. I did some research on this forum and found that the Volt was (at least in my mind) a better quality version of the same sort of e-cigarette. I purchased from Smokeless Image around noon this past Monday and bought the Volt starter kit for $19.99 and had it shipped First Class mail for about $3...It came to me today only about a half hour ago and so far I can say that it is leaps and bounds better than any e-cig I've bought from a gas station or tobacco store. I'm very pleased with it and thankful I found this forum to point me in the right direction.
