Newbie Question Kanger Subtank Mini RBA PEEK Insulator Section Potential Issue

Hello everyone,

I hope this isn't a stupid question, if so I apologize as I am new to anything more than cartomizers and I do not have all of the terminology down yet. I also wasn't sure where I should post this.

Anyways, on my new Subtank Mini rba section the PEEK insulator doesn't fit properly or align into the piece above on the left side leaving a gap. Or perhaps the piece above insulator is the issue, not sure. However, the left side is noticeably taller and leans to the right from the front view due to the gap.

The right side is fine and sits flush with the insulator piece inside of the gap.
I just opened it today, so it is brand new and unaltered.

I tried unscrewing and re-tightening the screw, but that made no difference. Is this a defective product which I should exchange? Or is there any easy fix for this? At this point I don't know enough to determine what might be creating the gap on one side so I was hoping more experienced individuals would share their thoughts. I'd like to make sure I don't have a defective piece that will hinder my rebuilding efforts in the future.

I'm attaching pictures, so hopefully the visual presentation will illustrate my concern.

Also, did anyone else get extra cotton with impurities that smells of machine oil? Should I dispose it?

Thanks for any insight!

Hi Confusion, love your name. I haven't the slightest idea on how to help you. Did you get it at a shop or online? If a shop, I'd take it to them and ask. If online, you can usually call customer service. Oh, I guess I helped a little, maybe...lol

Welcome to the forum and hopefully, someone will be along to really help...

I agree with Quitter, that sounds like a cross threading issue and will need to be replaced by the shop you bought it from. Your attachment doesn't work so I can't see this issue, but by your description that is the most likely cause. I can say that my positive post piece screws on parallel to the deck, so I think it must be a mis-machined part. To be sure, please remove the insulator and screw on the positive post piece and see if it's parallel, if it is not then it is not machined correctly. Also, every Subtank, both full size and mini I've seen (over 20 now) have a nasty machine oil smell to them... including the cotton. I just throw the cotton away and spend time cleaning all the parts. I've got friends that just "vape through" the machine oil but to me that is just nasty. Up to you how you want to handle that.

Thanks! I figured the name suited me well since I'm brand new to more than a very simple setup and the options beyond that can be overwhelming in the beginning. I purchased it online and didn't want to contact them until I had a few experienced opinions on whether or not there was a problem since I personally have not acquired the experience to say for sure if I should ask for an exchange, or not.

Hi, I can't see your attachments.... says error.

Anyway, I looked at the video review of the Mini by Vap0rnomics and took a screenshot of what it's supposed to look like:

Please try again with your attachment pics so we can see what's up with yours.

My pictures appear to display now so hopefully they are visible and will illustrate what I'm referring to since my written communication is lacking the proper terminology. Thanks for taking a look!

Thanks to everyone for the replies! I have my pictures up so they should be visible now. Sorry my description was lacking. I was referring to the L- shaped metal piece that is underneath the coil with the large hole in it (the deck?). The insulator underneath wasn't fitting correctly up into the small gap on the left side therefore making it lean to the right.

I didn't understand what I was supposed to attempt so I just took apart the pieces that came undone easily (one of the screws that holds the coil and the piece at the bottom with four holes that unscrews) and it seems much straighter after reseating it, so I'm hoping that means it is fine and once I've read the informative forums here and watched enough videos to attempt rebuilding myself all goes well. :)

    u have the upgraded insulator.
either contact where u bought it from or contact kanger u.s. service and send them those pics as u might need a new rba base

That's the old upgraded insulator. There is a newer upgraded insulator now since Kanger found some problems with the clear PEEK insulator that replaced the original white insulator. The newest version (and hopefully the last) is a brown colored blended PEEK material and is what Kanger is now providing to existing users as a free replacement. It would probably be a good idea to get the replacement for any that have either the full size Subtank or the mini. I have found cracking in the clear insulator in my mini and have the newest insulators on the way.

sorry for the bump, if you haven't replaced and discarded your old clear insulator yet, could you please post a picture of the damage in this thread? http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...btank-mini-clear-insulator-melted-my-rba.html and also show us how the new brown insulator looks in the subtank mini?

    thank you :)
