How has the round cut version of the rba been performing for you? Mine was straight through and during the time it was operational, it had no issues wicking high VG fluid. I never got a single dry hit from it at 25-30 watts. Im curious if the round ones are performing well, since the latest rba is cut straight through.
Just in case you were asking me...

I dunno. I've only got an iStick 20 and haven't been able fire below 1 ohm... yet...

I have the rounded version and get dry hits like crazy. I had actually been thinking of enlarging the wick holes before I came across this thread. My Nano works like a champ. Mini....not so much. A shame too, because I really wanted to like the Mini.

Try this, on the next re-wicking - thread a little of the wick into the juice channel on each side.
Post back your results.

on the rba my last wick job i cut the tails shorter than b4 and its much better at getting no dryish hits.
using rayon tails r cut to just barely touching the the rba deck/base making sure juice channels are not blocked in anyway, not a stuff in job as i seen for the kayfun builds.
the rayon is thick going into coil and slight angle cut so all/most of the wick ends touches deck, small/skinny sharp scissors are helpful.

Yeah, I've definitely found that less wick is better for the RBA. I havent gotten a single dry hit from mine, though I do have the cut straight through version. What I do is cut it even with the deck, then pull both sides of the wick straight up when you reapply the chimney. Then, fluff the edges of the cotton and use one of those tiny screwdrivers to get the wick back into the chimney, but dont pack it super tight. You want the juice to be able to enter but not flood. Its a delicate balance :)

Mine has the clear insulator and the straight cut but they are not cut the same. One channel is cut deeper than the other side and my rba dry hits no matter how I wick the coil.

Mine too - and I bought it last week. I've tried every wicking method known to man. Really disappointing, and I guess the only solution is to try and enlarge the juice channels.

I have 2 subtank mini's. Both are from the same vendor purchased within 1 week of each other. The first one in rba mod works perfectly and get no dry hits. The 2nd one in rba mode dry hits every single drag no matter how I wick it,
The one that is working is amazing and easily the best tank experience I have used. I am thinking of contacting the vendor about this however unless Kanger has issued any communication that there is an issue and offering replacement rba decks I doubt they will do anything. Has anyone seen any replacement decks for sale?

Once its empty I will check which deck was included. The 2nd one which I recieved a few days ago appears to be "White insulator, half-drilled juice channels" This one in rba mode dry hits every single drag no matter how I wick it,
Even worse there is a strong burnt plastic flavor occuring.
At this point its worthless as I have no interest in using the BDC coils. The one that is working is amazing and easily the best tank experience I have used. Did you figure out if the channels are different on the one that is working?

I contacted the vendor I ordered both units from today "Myvapestore" explaining the issue and they sent me a return label to send the device back. I also placed an order for a replacement RBA from sweet vapes. That said, to my surprise the 2 RBA's look identical, at least to me. I took them both apart and took the photos, reassembled and for consistency sake I setup them both with one of the included rba coils. The good one is working perfectly and no dry hits. The one that has issues within 3 draws was already dry hitting, really bad. The next test will be to try the device that is having issues with one of the included BDC coils.
One on the left is working perfect, one on the right is endless dry hits. Another option is to try the rba that is having dry hits in the other tank as I guess its possible this is not even related to the RBA?2015-02-23_18-41-09.jpg2015-02-23_18-41-28.jpg

I did wonder if the issue was with the tank sealing properly. It'll be interesting to see if you have the same issue with this rba in the other tank.

That would be a great if you could do that, I tend to think it is the RBA but there is a slim chance it could be the deck. I've had plenty of dry hits with the occ coils and the rba, now I'm starting to think it just might be the tank.

I just tried a .5 ohm BDC coil and it works fine, no dry hits. I have concluded there is something wrong with the RBA deck. At this point I don't even think I am going to spend the time of putting the RBA deck from the good one into the one with issues as I think its obvious the issues are within the RBA deck. I just noticed the one working fine is stamped with a B on the deck, you can see this in the photos, deck on the left. At this point I am shipping the RBA deck back to the vendor tomorrow. The replacement RBA purchased from Sweet Vapes should be here Wednesday as they are quite close to me so I will post the results.

I saw mention of another user enlarging the juice channels on his with positive results. Since one of my channels is larger I may try and file the smaller one to match, just pisses me off to have to do this. I've actually tried rewicking the occ coils and the rba deck at least a dozen times each. They always start out amazing and then end up dry hitting after 1 or 2mls of juice.
