Perhaps look at your 'intake' (in mg nicotine - knowing most 'average' cigarettes are around 0.8 mg each) per day - and then go for the closest to that number of nicotine in liquid, knowing that most of us use around 2ml per day. So say you smoked 20 'average' cigs per day, that means you used around 20x0.8 = 16 mg of nicotine per day. When you just begin you don't know yet how much liquid you will be using each day, so go from the 'average' on that for starters, meaning 2 ml (adjust later as needed if it shows you use more or less then this). You have to spread out the needed nicotine across those 2 ml, so that means you would start out at 16/2 = 8 ml. This isn't exact science - but it does let you start somewhere that is probably near to what YOU need (why would you start at 36 if you don't need it, after all... it's just so much more you will have to lower again later...)

Then for there out, just listen carefully to your body. You keep getting strong cravings? Go up one strength, see how you do, until you get at your 'sweet spot'. You get dizzy, lightheaded, perhaps a bit nauseous? Then you need to go a step lower, see how that goes, until you reach your sweet spot.

Hope you can find what you would want to begin with along this route, good luck! :)
