Hi and welcome to the forums! You will find this place is great!

Yes they can leak. They can be finicky. I have one but I like it. In hind sight though starting out I would have just picked up a Riva 510 from Liberty Flights and a trip tip. At the same time as ordering this I would have order some 50/50 PG/VG juice from one of the recommended suppliers here (I got mine from Freedomsmokeusa). RY4 is a good flavor to start off on. I'd get a 10ml bottle of 14(or 12) strength and 24 mg/ml strength. If the 24 is too strong for your taste use the 14. If you don't feel like you are getting enough nicotine you can mix the 14 and 24 to get around a dose of 18 mg/ml.

The 510 style E-cigs are universal and the parts and accessories are common and sold by most any decent supplier. The price, popularity, and versatility of the 510 is why I recommend it to new users.

Hi Suzy,
I am a pretty new vapor myself and considered the tank and thought I would just get prefilled carts. Unfortunately, I found most of the flavors to be pretty nasty.

What kinds of systems are you look at? My friend has a Vapor4Life kit (2 part system) with prefilled cartonomizers and I tried the peach cobbler and it was much better than the pre-filled carts I had tried.

I drip high quality juice in an eGo and am pretty happy with it so far. :)

Welcome to the forum SuziQ70! You are soooo gonna love vaping! The Ego T Tank is a big step for a beginner, but some would argue why not? I've seen several posts about the leaking issue and I wouldn't want that to turn you off to vaping. Sylann's suggestion of a 510 is a good one. Liberty Flights has a coupon code "ECF" that you can use to get a discount too, even though their prices are already very reasonable. If you do go with prefilled carts, don't throw them away when they are empty- they can be refilled. Order a variety of juice in small bottles until you find a couple you really like. I use a DSE 901 mostly and have for over 2 years. You can get them in your choice of ten colors at www.healthcabin.net for a really good price. You just have to wait a little longer since they come directly from China where they are made.

Just get a regular Ego. Later you could always add a tank atomizer and tanks if you want.

You will not be surviving on prefilled carts. You need to add juice or a cart is only going to last you maybe 5 cigarettes worth of drags. Most people prefer dripping on the atomizer or using cartomizers. There are not many prefilled cartomizers for 510 other than ones filled with Chinese PG (like the prefilled carts are). This place has a small badly stocked selection of 510 prefilled cartomizers.
Xpress 510 Cartomizers
The other choice for prefilled cartos is to use a 510 to 808 (aka 510 to KR808D-1) adapter and use prefilled cartomizers from Vapor4Life or other KR808D-1 vendors.

Prefilled is just a small convenience (especially for carts which need juice more often than cartos). Unless you are rich and willing to throw out 2 or more per day, you will be adding juice to everything and you can start with blanks too.

Thanks so much for the replies. I have some friends at work who bought E-Cigs from Greensmoke but all of them have returned to normal cigarettes as they don't find the e-cigs satisfying as they don't seem to get much vapour from them. I have been lurking here for a week now and have checked some reviews on you tube. the tank system seemed to have a lot of vapour, look satisfying and appeared easy to use, the drip tip seems so fussy and time consuming. I think I will go with the Ego Tank system and see how it goes, really I just want to get off the analogues so wiping up a bit of leakage isn't the end of the world.

Vaping is like a lot of things though. You can research til your eyes fall out of your head reading forums and watching YouTube videos but in the end nothing beats experience.

It's kind of like asking "What car should I buy?" You can imagine how many variable responses you'd get from that question.

Unfortunately unless you have a near-by friend that can let ya test drive his PVs with various juices you'll never know for sure what suites you best before buying.

I only recommend the Riva b/c it does work well and it's cheap and you can use it in so many different ways. It comes with carts you have to fill. If you don't like that you can buy pre-filled cartomizers for it. If you don't like that you can buy Tank atomizers/carts (basically making it an ego-T). Right out of the box though you can just drip some juice on the atomizer, install a blank cart it comes with and vape away.

I wouldn't look for the cheapest juice you can find though. Go to the E-juice section of the forums to get some recommendations there to get ya started.

Considering you're new at this (Like I myself was a little over a year ago), thought I'd save you some grief. If you desire a no muss/no fuss system... get the 'Go-go' from Cig-Easy or NHaler for $60.00 (shipped) It's a 1300 mah battery (as opposed to the standard eGo's 650 mah battery) and it is a 3 ml of juice 2-piece Cartomizer system. This means, many people can go two days without charging the Battery or re-filling the Cartomizer with juice. The eGo you'll get a day (maybe) of battery life and the Atomizer system (3 pieces) is such a pain sometimes. Generally, Atomizers cost more than Cartomizers and the life span just isn't anywhere near that of a Cartomizer system. I've tried them ALL... lemme tell ya.. (lol)
Unlike 'other' Cartomizer systems I've used, the 'Go-go' has the flavor, vapor & throat hit of dripping on any good 510 system.. such as Joye, eGo, eGo-T, Riva.. what have you... as long as you have the 'right' juice! It's essential you find the 'right' juice. For me it's the 'Go-go' pre-filled Cartomizers from Cig-Easy... hands down. NHalers Go-go starter kits come with empty Cartomizers, so you'll have to fill them yourself.. but Cig-Easy's come pre-filled. Since the price is still about the same, hands down the Cig-Easy starter kit wins.. :) The Go-go is a breeze to refill ... just pop off the soft silicone cap and drip (along the sides.. like pouring a beer.. albeit much slower.. lol) and you're good to Go.

I've tried RN4081s, 808 cartos, 401s, 402s, pass throughs, 510s, All of the eGo systems... almost everything.. and for ease of use, economy and pure vaping satisfaction.... the 'Go-go' is my vaping Nirvana. However, everyone is different, so it's good you're seeking a multitude of counsel on this. I wish you Luck and Happy Vaping!

I have had very mixed results with the ego T. When it works well it is great - but I have experienced a lot of issues with poor performing attys. A lot of info in the forums on this system. I am planning to buy a GoGo - you may want to read http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/163146-ego-t-vs-go-go-60.html on the comparison between the ego-t and the gogo. To answer your specific question - I have not had any leaking issues at all with the ego-t. My biggest complaint is the amount of messing around and buying replacement attys to keep performance good.

SuziQ, you can always go to the ECF library and read all about he "Wonderful world of vaping" that talks about beginner kits, more advanced systems, mods, e-juice and about everything you wanted to know before you buy. All the advice given by others is right on, even the basic eGo or Riva systems w/o the tank are good. Welcome and good luck.

SuziQ, My experience has been to focus on which PV (personal vaporizer) and which nicotine level first. The world of flavours is fun, but don't let it get in your way at first. You may not like some (most?) flavours, but that can be fixed later. First, decide on a mini (cigarette shape) or super-mod (hookah sized), then pick an agreeable flavour (menthol, tobacco, vanilla) in a few nicotine strengths (35 analogs sounds like you want a higher nic - maybe 24mg or more). Deal with the less than perfect flavour until you get the hang of it. Then go crazy with perfecting flavours and car battery mods, etc. You will love vaping and each tweak your experience better and better.

If you go with any Ego you will have the most choices of how you want to vape. Tank atty + tanks, a large variety of cartomizers or atomizers, standard resistance or low resistance. Great way to figure out what you like. And if you want something smaller for some times you could get a 510 and it will be able to use all of your non-tank non-LR stuff - any standard resistance attys and cartos.

One caution on the go-go. It may be great. I haven't used one. Most of those that have, love it. That said, most of those that have used one, also have other methods to vape small amounts.

When you are new to vaping, you have to find a juice and nic level you are comfortable with. That thing takes a ton of juice. So, if you get something in there that doesn't work, you are stuck either tossing a pretty expensive carto and wasting that juice or trying to live with it. If there's a nic level problem, that can be pretty uncomfortable. So, I don't think it's a great choice for someone new.

Hey all,

I'll go for a box mod from mad vapes, they're cheap, and lots of vapor from an easy to make mod., oh BTW mine has 8 months and it's not broken, only I've changed twice my CE2 cartomizers, wich costs about 2 US Dollars each. I've been vapin some brands of e-.juice, but nothing compares with my homemade e-liquid cherrypop and cinnamonroll from perfumer's aprentice.

Cheers
Mojito

Yeah, that thread is a good read. From what I can gather from those who've posted there, it's a big capacity, but not great quality battery with a kickass big cartomizer. I hope all the gogo love inspires someone to either hurry up and produce a go cart adapter for the millions of ego and riva batteries already out there, or produce a reliable, easy to fill, big capacity carto with 510 threads.
