Newbie - Questions about the 510

A little confused about what I should be toting around with me..Im only vaping when I want to smoke an analog ( or when I tag along on a smoke break with someone else who is smoking an analog) can I refill the carts , put the lid back on them and just use them instead of carrying the juice around with me and filling when needed?

Ive heard tons of bad reviews on the 510 batt life but mine has lasted me a day and a half so far.. did I get a rediculously good batt or am I just not vaping as much as others?

Also a few times when Ive laid the 510 down Ive noticed a small amount of juice leaking in between the cart and addy..not a hug amount but enough to make the ecig slick..which is annoying because I have a small pup who likes to lick..so I have to be extra careful as I know the juice is poison to her. everytime I touch it I have to wash my hands after..

Yes.

If you want help learning how to refill just ask.
It does take some learning to do it right.

Correct.

Yes, that can happen if you lay it on it's side for too long without using it.
You don't hear about that problem here very often because very few of us put it down for very long.
:)

I used to stand mine up on the battery end when the cartridge was running low on juice.
And I would stand it up on the cartridge end when the cartridge was full.

Just remember, the juice is going to do it's best to follow gravity.

Hi.... welcome. I am new as well and got my 510 on Christmas eve. I love it. But I have also now purchased a Riva 510 as I have found the batteries to die on me too quickly. Now go between both batteries which is easy since the attys and carts go with either. Buying the two starter kits has given me extra attys and plenty of batteries to last me for a while. Yes, you can fill carts and put the little "condum" on them and replace as needed rather than carry the juice. I carry my e-cig, an extra battery, an extra atty, and a couple of bottles of juice with me in an old hardshell eyeglass case. Everything fits perfect.

I'm loving the e-cig experience and hope you will as well.

Yes please!! I finished one prefilled cartridge and removed the filler and put some of the blue foam in there but Im not sure how to tell if its "full" or if I did it right..I heard from several people the blue foam works better then the white filler...

And what do you think is the best way for me to transport my stuff around (dont want anything leaking in my purse) is a PCC the way to go? Seems Like I will only need 1 or 2 cartridges a day and one battery (so far..Ive heard I may vape more when I try some funky flavors)

or is a cartomizer they way to go? but I dont think carotmizers fit in pcc's right? so confusing :) lol

Im not giving up though ..it feels great to have not has an analog for 48hrs!!

If your going long periods of time without using it, either disconnect the attomiser and lay in a shot glass or anywhere so it stands cartridge side down (this allows liquid to flow back into cartridge)....or be prepared to wipe it off regularly. Gravity works 24/7 regardless. So best to carry cart down in pocket, or disconnect and still keep cartside down. Leaks will happen any other storage method. If you are that light of a user, a cartomiser might suite well, as they rarely if EVER leak..generally only when filling them.

Hi :) since you don't vape a huge amount, you might like these:
510 Pre-Filled Cartomizers [510-Carto] - $1.79 : ValueVapor.com, Discount Electronic Cigarettes and e-Liquid

I don't know if you are familiar with cartomizers. They are basically carts with a built in atomizer, so you just screw one on and you are good to go. They also tend to hold about twice as much e-liquid as plain carts. I liked using them a lot but I vape so much I was running mine dry all the time, but it might be just the ticket for you. Also, they can easily be re-filled and re-used quite a bit before loosing their oomph.

fwiw: my 510 battery only lasted me 45-90 minutes. LOL! :)

Good luck!

Cartomiser will fit in a PCC, and doesnt leak...and Cartridge is designed to be threads down in PCC, and they do leak. Its a sealed chamber, but can fill. I flip them and carry cartridge side down in PCC. But pretty sure I had to remove the rubber nub in the chamber that hold the atty...needed some needle nose pliers to grab that lil bugger! You sound like a definite PCC candidate. Sounds like cartomisers would be best for you though..much easier to deal with. BUt you want boge carto's..They have silver threads.

The blue foam does work better, at least in my opinion, but you have to experiment with it to get it right.

If you make it too loose, it will leak, and could even flood your atomizer.
If you make it too tight, it will not wick well enough and you'll start getting that burnt taste that means your atomizer is dry.

I used to use a piece that was an extra 25% wider than the cartridge.
But it can also vary with what kind of juice you use.

There are many ways to refill the cartridge, but with blue foam I used to be able to just hold it at an angle and refill it.
Others will use a toothpick or paper clip to push the filler aside and drip the drops into the cartridge.
Others will take the filler out with tweezers and put in the new drops, then push the filler back in.

Don't be hesitant, just jump on in and keep trying to you find what works for you.

That is personal choice for sure.
I hate cartomizers, many people love them.

Here is a thread worth looking at...

So I could order some of these and when they empty, just refill them with juice?
(I wonder because I already ordered and paid for some flavor juices dont want the money to go to waste)

Do they have some sort of cap for transporting?

How do you fill a cartomizer?

Does anyone know what the equivelent is of puffs - to a filled cartomizer?

and that 45-90 mins would be of straight vaping? I guess thats why Im not having a problem Throught an entire day I do it maybe 7 or 8 times 5 mins or so at a time...justlike with analogs

Yep, that's exactly how they work. They are meant to be disposable, but you can reuse them for about a week or so each. Or more, in your case.

Do they have some sort of cap for transporting?

they come with a rubber sleeve on both ends - totally no leaking at all.

How do you fill a cartomizer?

see video below...

Hard to tell in puffs... I used about 5-6 a day, but then a 510 battery only lasted me one hour... hehehe. So I bet you'd use one per day.

No way man, I've tried to quit smoking too many painful ways. This time it's going to be easy. I don't vape when I want a smoke, I vape before I want a smoke. If you vape constantly, you won't have cravings -- if I have cravings I'm going to smoke. It works for me.
:) Anyway, after a couple of months it tapers off to a relatively normal amount (normal for a smoker w/ a 25 year addiction to tend to... lol.)

here's the video:
YouTube - Refill Ecig Cartos Quick and Easy (CCFM)

On a side note: you can get cartomizers with no juice in them too if you just want to put in whatever flavors that you like. I always felt like the pre-filled ones lasted longer and burned less often than the empty ones though (yes, if you try to vape them without enough juice in them the filler will burn and then they're ruined forever, so careful about that), so I always bought the pre-filled ones and re-filled them with a juice that was similar. You have to do it however it works for you though.. Good luck!

Dont order THOSE cartos..better ones out there, little more money, but worth it.
Carto's ARE refillable. Soft caps come right off, and fill easily. You just drop drops into teh white batting inside, NOT the center hole, its for air intake. They are generally good for 5-10 packs use. Each holds 1ml=1 pack. And they are disposable. If flavor drops, or you just dont like it..chuck it and get new one.
200-300 puffs..depending on your puff size.
45-90 minutes is for a 180 mah battery (a short one)...thats a 2 pack a day smoker

Here's some better ones:
Refillable 510 Cartomizers
I've never tried the other ones, they just looked fun to me.
