Hi All

I'd never even heard of e-cigs until last week when they had a demo in Durham centre....came home and googled straight away. Would be interested to know....

Have you found it helped you quit actual cigarettes (don't want to spend the cash if I'm only going to head to the shop for a packet of Berkeley methol)?

Whats the best e-cig to start with?

Do you find it saves you money?

Sorry if these questions have been asked and answered over and over - I had a quick look through and people are referring to models and types and I feel out of my depth !

I haven't smoked since I got my e cig. Your best bet would be to buy a cartomizer DPV9 or a mod, so you can get a good throat hit. And so far I haven't saved money because I keep buying new stuff, but if you buy the right things from the beginning then of course it will help you save money.

Check out the DPV9 at www.eastmall.net - Eastmall International Co.,Ltd
Screwdriver at ecigscrewdriver.com
The adaptever AdapteveR Home of the ORIGINAL USA built PV : Home
Or a torch from garry dibley www.e-cigcity.co.uk
Or maybe even a janty stick from ivapor

If you get one of the mods including the js you wont have to deal with battery problems and the batteries are cheaper to replace.

So lets say you spend

100 pounds on a mod
20 pounds on batteries
30 on atomizers
20 on e liquid

Thats a 170 to start out, after that you're looking into maintenance costs, lets say 2 new atties every month and more liquid. So that should run you around 30 pounds.

Becks I was really doubtful too (I heard about it from someone I follow on twitter) but having received a titan 510 on thursday, I have had 1 cig since, just one (and that was Thursday night)

Whatever you get, make sure you get some nic liquid with your first order, if I had had to go more than one day on the foul tasting cartridges that I was sent with my e-cig I would have been back on the tobacco, but am loving the chocolate liq.

Hi Becks and welcome.
All Crash says is very true but may seem a bit daunting right now. Yoshimi is right about getting yourself some nicotine liquid too. You can refil any cart with whatever flavour you like. There is a very good offer on the DSE 901 at the moment here Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Mini (DSE 901).
In my opinion you could do far worse than start with something like that. Hope our opinions have helped you and if there is anything else please feel free to ask away.;)

Both me and my partner quit right away with e-cigs, our favorite being the 510. We bought cheaper versions at first (the ones from ebuyer Health E-Cig) and we got what we paid for, rubbish :p

I also own a Screwdriver (one of the mods Crash is talking about) I can suck on it all day without worrying about batterys.

I use my screwdriver (901) for everyday use and my 510 as my going out e-cig (black + blue) as it looks alot more stylish

I would suggest shopping around looking for the cheapist price on the model you are looking for, they will all be the same except for rebrandings. Also keep an eye out for discount codes to save a bit more money.

If you do decide to buy one I suggest that you only buy small bottles of liquid to start off with. Buy a few flavors till you find a favorite then you can order a bigger bottle, nothing worse than having 30ml bottles of a flavor you don't like (i do lol).

Also order the highest strength juice and cut it down will save you money.

Depending on what brand you was smoking, (if its duty free etc) you will most likely save money. I am saving money by not buying L&B's from the shops any more but I am not too worried about that.

If I had to I would spend abit more just for my health :D

Keep researching on the forum, don't rush into buying anything till you find what you are looking for.

GL mate.

Thanks for the recommendations - have ordered a Titan 510 and some menthol cartridges (figured these might be easier than liquid at first till I know what I'm dealing with)

Decided that cost / saving money shouldn't be a factor as if I can make the switch I don't have to worry about lungs / stained teeth / smelly clothes etc and will probably save cash on perfume, hand sanitiser and breath mints ;-)

Also loving the idea that I won't have to stand outside under a brolly in the rain anymore

I just followed your lead Becks (although refrained from the menthol cartridges) and ordered the 510 starter pack. Would be interested to know how you're getting on...

Am quite daunted by all the talk of dripping/tailpiping/dry this that and the other - am guessing it will all make sense when I've got delivery and it will hopefully start to make more sense.

I haven't ordered any liquids, again due to lack of knowledge of what to get, what to look for, where to get it, and not really understanding. Problem is, reading too many threads offering many peoples opinions, and everyones different ways of doing the same thing just gets a bit too much.

Will give it a week when I get it and play it by ear after that...

I started with 401 my friend got the 510 the my 401 was much better than his 510, he sent back the attie and then his worked properly.
With the 510 give it a couple days for the attie to break after that it should be fun. Most people I know start off by using them as a compliment to smoking.
any problems or questions dont hesitate to post

Hi All

I'd never even heard of e-cigs until last week when they had a demo in Durham centre....
Wasn't that Freecig.com mob, was it? I'm in Houghton, by the way.

came home and googled straight away. Would be interested to know....

Have you found it helped you quit actual cigarettes (don't want to spend the cash if I'm only going to head to the shop for a packet of Berkeley methol)?

Yes - tobacco free since May 27th this year, ex 60 a day man.

Whats the best e-cig to start with?

Opinions vary. My own preference, at the moment, is the DSE401, because its flavour seems better than my second favourite 901, and it puts out just the right amount of vapour for me (I'm not a massive clouds kind of fellow), and gives me 99% of the sensations I got from fags. I'm not a great fan of the 510, although I own one with PCC - but I'm happy to use it - it just doesn't do the flavour thing very well, IMHO.

Also a fan of the DSE084 style super-mini (with PCC - vital for these puppies), which is small, discrete, and has good flavour and vapour generation, but really poor cart life.

On balance, I'd go for a 401, I think.

Do you find it saves you money?

Absolutely - using juice and re-filling carts. It is the way to go.

Sorry if these questions have been asked and answered over and over - I had a quick look through and people are referring to models and types and I feel out of my depth !

No bother! If you get stuck at all, give me a yell - I'm just down the road from you, and a jaunt into Durham for a coffee is never a nasty prospect.

In hindsight, I should've ordered liquid and sods law, I have now but the f**kin royal mail are striking so I've no idea when they'll arrive !!!

How many times should you be able to fill a cart from a 10ml bottle ?? I bought small, and got a few different flavours coming so will see which ones I like.

Still daunted by the idea of mixing my own (I know its prob easy but this is all still new to me) but will play with the liquids when they arrive and then go from there.

Not bad is it, this vaping malarky !!!

Hi Lurch, a 10ml bottle allegedly contains 200 drops, I can get around 16 drops into a fresh cartridge (using the straw mod), I tend to just top it off with 6-8 drops at a time after that until I clean the cart and filler (about once a week).

.

Hey Deschain - whats the straw mod ???

I prob sound like a total noob so help me out here. I drop 11 drops in the empty cart, add the filler, drop another 2 or 3 and then leave for vaping. The filler goes a browny colour so I was under the impression to clean after and then use again - always tastes a little weak after, am I doing something wrong ???

When you add drops before cleaning (I'm taking it that you only clean carts once a week), do you remove the filler ???

One last question for ya !!! Do you mix your own flavours ??? I've just ordered another batch but 10ml bottles this time. 5 pack so should last me a bit longer.

Hoping it comes before I run out (f**kin royal mail strikes !!)

THANKS in advance

Hi mate, this is the straw mod, I've not tried any other mods because I've had good experience with it...

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/11421-cart-mod-better-refilling.html#post176708

All you need for this is some scissors and some of those ear bud stick things (q-tips as our american friends call them).

As for filling, when I clean my filler, I just load everything up into the cart after cleaning/drying and drip the fluid in there as normal (I can get around 16-18 drops in there) I'm due to do this today or tomorrow, so I will actually count them and give an accurate figure. (I'm thinking of ordering a syringe for filling actually). And for topping off during the week, I do the same dripping method.

The only flavour I've mixed was an 11mg Double Mint flavour with some 24mg Menthol...and that wasn't really a flavour issue, the 11mg was too weak, so mixing 50/50 of each brought it up to around 18mg...oh, I also added some RY4 to a Marlboro flavour because the marlboro was bloody horrible.

Hope this is of some use.

(oh, and postal strikes - pain in the ....). :nah:

Hi UK Vapers

Though I would post this question on the UK part of the forum first

Does anyone have a Prodigy or other 5 volt ecig, I was thinking of buying one when they become available at E-Cigs. It would just be for home use as I think it would be a bit conspicous down my local.

I have done a bit of research and it now appears I may not need to pay £100 for a prodigy, instead all I need is a USB passthrough and USB wall adaptor.

Here is my thinking. If a Prodigy is 5 volt at 1 amp, a USB passthrough connected to my PC produces 5 volt at 0.5 amp but if I buy a USB wall adaptor which has an out put of 5 volt at 1 amp and connect my passthrough does that produce the same result as a Prodigy.

I'm I overlooking something.

Would the extra half amp short out the passthrough or does a passthrough only output at 0.5 amp regardless of the USB output.

Prodigy full kit at E-Cigs is £100

Passthrough is £20 and a USB Wall charger is about £2 from Ebay this seems a lot cheaper

Hey all, I hope this is the right thread.

After a couple of days of reading the forums and watching youtube videos I decided to order a starter kit (510 titan) but my biggest concern is the e-juce, cause I'm in Serbia and they dont make them here, so I'm gonna order it from the UK as it's the closest to where I'm at.

From what I gathered you can't expect it to taste anything like a cigarette. But what's the closest thing to a tobacco taste? I've been a heavy smoker for 15 years, and I smoke pretty strong stuff. What would you recommend to a total beginner? I'm not too big on fruit flavors so if you know any decent brands that are even remotely similar to a cigarette or even a good menthol brand please help me decide. I'm planning on getting a lot of it at once, cause the shipping cost from the uk to my country will be quite dear.

Thanks in advance.

Hrundi, try the Virginia from www.misteliquid.co.uk I use the 24mg when I want a "smoke-like" vape. I was a fairly heavy smoker for around 25 years, smoking roll ups for the last four or five years...the Virginia is the most pleasant smokey taste that I have found to date.

I also tried Marlboro, but I found it was disgusting (I know everybody has different tastse though).

Might be worth your while ordering a bunch of 3ml samples from the site I've recommended, they have several "tobacco" flavours to choose from...you could pick up a sample of their menthol as well, try mixing it with one of the tobacco flavours maybe.

Oh, 510, good choice IMO...I love mine. :)
