Well I ordered the Redds kit from MLV and took advantage of the 20% discount on other items.... I figured I would have to purchase more juice and cartomizers later so I might as well do it while it is on sale.

1 of : Lexport Hey ***Now in Stock***[Strength:18mg][Size:30ml]
1 of : Maple Leaf Canada Blend[Flavour Shot:None][Strength:18mg][Size:30ml]
2 of : REDDS E-Cigarette Cartomizers (10-Pack)
1 of : Redds Premium Starter Kit
1 of : Sithgar **now in stock**[Flavour Shot:None][Strength:18mg][Size:30ml]
1 of : Timz French Vanilla[Flavour Shot:None][Strength:18mg][Size:30ml]
1 of : Virginia Menthol tobacco (30nl)[Strength:24mg][Size:30ml]

Plus the Reds kit included a free 30ml of juice (I asked for Maple Leaf Canada Blend 18mg), and it also comes with a 10 pack of cartomizers. I figure I am probably good for 2 to 3 months or more, lol! Even though this is the costly setup purchase, it is still cheaper than smoking... even it it only last me two months, I would still be saving at least $40 according to my estimate of a half pack a day at $8 a pack. I am getting excited to try it all out!

Well, after another week or so of researching different setups, I can better understand what you were talking about with your recommendation. I already ordered the Redds kit and I expect it in the mail any day now, but I am about to make another order more in line with what you had recommended Vapoor eyes er.

After watching videos, constantly checking out different stores and what they offer, and of course reading up on ECF, I think I know why this thread went dead so fast after I announced what I had purchased, lol:p. I will keep the Redds and use them for stealth purposes at work etc... but I am now looking at ordering a Ego Twist, Vivi Nova 2.5 tank (s), and some Boge Cartomizers from Canvape. I think this will be my at home setup and maybe when I get more comfortable with it I would bring it to work. I can see how the short battery life and the added cost of the Redds brand cartomizers would start to sting after awhile. I'd still like the cartomizers, but the rebuildable Vivi Nova 2.5 will be more cost effective and the same goes for the bigger batteries in the long run. Plus if I get the VV twist, I will have more mods open to me and better able to find my sweet spot.

Does this sound like a better purchase? Will everything work together nicely, or do you have any advice for me?

Forgive my newbness, but hey... I haven't even received the Redds yet and have seen the error of my ways... give me credit for that! LOL

Some LOVE cartomizers while others LOVE clearomizers. I use both carto+ tank and clearomizers.
With carto+ tank before tight draw my cartos last:
light juice= 80-90 ml
dark juice- 50-60 ml.
With the new rebuildable clearomizers you have to wash and dry burn them every few days but mine are lasting about 4 weeks. After the head (wick+ coil) burns out simply unscrew old head and screw in new head- takes about 10 secs.
I DIY my juice, buy everything on sale and my operating costs are $1.50 per week. Realize start up costs will get ya though but the savings will definitely be there.

I don't want to sound too hard on the Redds, as I haven't even tried them yet and I believe they will be great for stealth and carrying the PCC around. From what I have read they give off great vapor and TH.... I just think that after reviewing everything more closely, I should get something with longer battery life, more options and better economy for at home/heavier use.

And I am checking my tracking constantly, so I am still excited about getting them!:toast:

Well I got the Redds kit and started using it yesterday, and I am happy with it! I haven't smoked an analog since yesterday around supper time and I haven't had to fight an urge at all and I still have a full pack of analogs in the house. I get lots of vapor, decent throat hit and vaped all last night and just changed the battery for the first time this morning. The two hour estimate must be if you are vaping constantly, I was surprised when it lasted as long as it did and I never even drained it completely. I did notice the difference with the fresh battery though. The PCC is the perfect size, and holy crap: what a bright blue LED light! It is almost blinding! The size of the assembled ecig is maybe an inch bigger than my usual regular sized cigarette, likely the same size as a Canadian King sized analog. I can see this not drawing much attention, something I want for outside use.

I think it will some time to get used to when to refill, but the process of refilling doesn't see too hard and I haven't spilled a drop yet. I put 30 drops in the blank cartomizers, and just topped them up this morning with another ten drops each. I used the Taryn spin on them and let them sit about an hour, then blew them out just before using them to check for overfill. I may try the condom filling method later, but so far just dripping it in is pretty quick and easy. I had read that your best bet is to keep them wet, so I pan on filling them regularly and blowing through them to avoid a flood as well as a burnout.

I like all the flavors I ordered, with the exception of the Virginia Tobacco Menthol. I find it tastes a bit like cough medication, reminiscent of Buckley's! LOL. It doesn't make me gag or anything like Buckley's does, but I was hoping for something more like Dentyne Ice. It was on clearance, now I understand why it was discounted.

If the Ego Twist is well above these in performance, it is going to be awesome! I ordered two 900mAh Twists, a Stardust, a Vivi Nova 2.5, Boge cartomizers (LR and SR), and replacement wicks/atomizers/tanks in the middle of last week and that order should be here before the end of this week! I plan on using the Redds for outside the house, and using the Twists for home use. I won't use up the Redds batteries so fast that way either. Now I am researching DIY juice, and the best place to buy the inputs as I can see the huge saving that it would bring in the long run. I can see how people get so into vaping... researching the purchases and waiting for the vape mail is pretty fun! I think I found a new hobby!:vapor:

Edit: I realized the emoticon I used was analog smoking, changed to vaping emoticon!

Thanks for the help guys and ECF is a great place to learn!

Sorry but I missed your recent posts. Glad you're happy with the Redds and even though there are better/ cheaper alternatives for a cig sized PV I won't get into that.

Try steeping it. Put it in a dark cool place/ cupboard for a couple of weeks or longer, open and allow fresh air in every few days, cap it and try it then. You'd be surprised at how the chemical taste disappears.

Once you begin using the clearos your cartos will gather dust BUT I still very much enjoy 1.7 cartos with a tank even I mainly use clearos. Just a diff vape.

Always need backups. Just remember to drink lottsa water.
Good luck.

I am trying to find something for a friend in Canada who wants to try vaping to stop smoking. I've been looking at the Redds, and Smoov for her, but do you have other ideas? Looking for something cig sized, and something in Canada so she doesn't have to worry about customs seizing it. I, myself, am pretty new to vaping (a couple of weeks), and I have a V2 setup (which I love so far.)

If youre looking for a cigarette size battery, go for the eGo-c Twist 650s. Theyre a bit thicker than analogs but great vaping for the size

Hey redborndead.

I have already purchased two ego twists 900mAh, they should be here this week! Anxious to try them out and start saving my Redds batteries for outdoor use.... I already charged the Redds three or four times each and they are only good for 300 charges or less. At first I didn't want the bigger battery, but quickly realized the benefits.

Hey Doogmar,

There are plenty of alternatives, but you will need the vendor list that is available in the Canada Forum.
Canada Forum

You need to have 5 posts, then wait an hour (I think you already have this accomplished), then ask for the lists in the following thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...w-nic-supplier-list-via-pm-only-part-2-a.html

Edit: The thread says juice suppliers, but you will get two lists... one for juice and one for hardware.

There are alternatives to the Redds out there, and most are probably at a lower cost. I am happy with the Redds though for out of the home use. The big thing to remember is that the batteries are small and won't last long on the cig sized units... you would want a PCC (personal charging case) to charge the batteries while out on the go... otherwise your friend could end up with dead batteries quickly and that may discourage them from staying off the cancer sticks. I only have experience with the Redds, so I can't say tell you what might be better and still available in Canada. I did see other cig sized kits in Canada, and some with the PCC... check out the vendor list and you should be able to find them.

Got the Ego Twists in the mail today, and I have tried both the Vivi Nova 2.5 and the Stardust v3... excellent!

Very easy to setup, great vapor and now I can vape without worrying about killing my batteries so fast! The Vivi Nova worked great from the start, the Stardust seemed that it needed a break in period. Now I will need to get some new juices!

3 days with no cigarettes and it has been stress free!

Hi NickFit, glad its going well. Even i was surprised, after 40 years of smoking, how easy it was....just vape when the need arises.
What i'm finding that seems to work well for me, is all this china stuff needs cleaned before we use it. At the mininum, give a hot water bath and let dry overnight if you got the time and spares. I use vodka first, then hot water and dry. It does seem to help when starting out on a new item.

Another question...

What is the difference in the maH values on the different models... Is it the battery size?
Basically the higher the Mah rating the longer it will run. It's not like a voltage rating. Best analogy is that Volts equal pressure Amperage relates to Volume as in water gallons per hour. The higher the mah the longer it will run. Conversely the higher the longer the charge time.
Use to be an Electronic Tech. Taught basic electronics to new Ham radio operators. Best analogy I found. Just like a car battery the higher the amphour rating the longer the cranking time.
