Hi all, I recently became interested in vaping and have been post stalking a bit. I just now joined the forums as I feel the need to be informed as to what I will purchase. My wife and I go through about a pack a day each right now and we have been rolling our own (tax class L but it is really rolling tobacco!) so have been saving but I really am into the idea because I WANT my nicotine but am tired of the mess, the butts...the smell. I want to be able to say 'No, I don't smoke, I ingest nicotine!'.

Either way, I have read a LOT here so have a couple of ideas as to what I am looking for. I do have 'size' issues so am very attracted to the smaller models that look like a cig but am really interested in a manual button style. I LOVE the visual of the black with the blue LED.

I am going to be getting something when my Paypal (I freelance write) drops in after the first of the month (It does not matter if they can take Paypal, I transfer it as soon as I can, lol). I will be the 'tester' here and if all goes as I think it will, we will get her set up too :D

OK, so now..my question is this. If I like that style, and I want the black/blue combo in a manual that gives me the option of being able to refill the carts...any suggestions?

I can say right now that I will not be a 'one time poster' and will be giving my all to help spread this. I may even get my Mom one as she is a 'stealth smoker' and she would not feel guilty about one of these!

I read the reviews but it was kinda messy (especially with the spammers pushing their own).

Rule of Thumb from Experience Members: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance and reliability. Keep that in mind.

The closes to the size of an analog but has a manual switch is the Joye 510 or the manual (not auto) DSE901. They are good beginner devices but the battery life is very short. If you were not so concerned about appearance, I would recommend the premiere devices which have the best performance and battery life.

But based on your size requirements, either of these would be your best option. It's good that you are staying clear of the auto switch devices that are pretty inconsistent. Here are some reputable suppliers supported by many on this forum:

Several Joye 510 & Manual DSE901 Suppliers:

Home - Rocky Mountain Vapor you have reached the mountain top of electronic cigarettes!
Heaven-gifts.com Ruyandirect.com Best E-smoking Shop
www.eastmall.net - Eastmall International Co.,Ltd
e-Smokey Treats - Electronic Cigarette's, The healthy alternative to traditional tobacco cigarette's

Good Luck

I have been looking into the 510, and have corresponded with Ethan at Janty about the juice (he gave me a great answer, that generally is something I look close at;) ).

This really is a 'look and feel' thing since we are very new to even the idea. Yes, I live in Seattle but so far what I have seen (unless they were far away and I just didn't know it was not analog) has only been when I have gone to the tobacco store and saw it in the case. Well, there are a lot of things in those cases that hold no interest for me, lol.

So, if I usually smoke a pack a day, and am smoking the heaviest strength (ie* camel full, pall mall full flavor kings) how many batteries should I have for a day/half day out?

I read a lot about about having a PCC and all, that is a given. I know I will get more battery(s) and hopefully find one that has the option of a PCC (are they interchangeable? Could I have the option of JUST looking at design/longevity/service?) or decent batteries and carrying spares.

I got the info on Janty's juice from him so I have a good start there and am going to go hit up the juice forum here in a sec. So, I am pretty sure I am good there, any suggestions in regards to design base on what I started with and was able to more fully explain with what ya'll have said? My intention here is to not look back at a burning mess in my mouth ever again once I get something :D

I just started vaping on Friday but I went with the matte black Joye 510 with purple led for me and the blue led for hubby. Hubby was a 3 pack a day smoker and I was a two pack a day smoker. We were also doing the RYO tax class L and we both quit on the same day. I did have one slip up had one analog on sunday and well found it nasty. I will tell you if you are going to quit and wife is not right now you will soon find that they stink.

To me the Joye 510 hits like a cigarette and my hubbys aunt who also tried out mine decided to purchase one right then so the learning curve is not that bad.

Hubby takes a PCC with him along with the extra battery and it makes it through the day for him so I am assuming this would work for you also since you smoked less.

I got my starter kit at cignot.com they have a choice of led and differant colored pcc.

Yeah, the big problem is financial. I mean, what if I love it and she hates it or vise versa. Just can't go and invest on both of us at the same time, we would have to wait until at least mid month and that would be after getting the one (can't make myself spend that much all at once...not right now!). Are there any good deals on a set for two out there?

I've used both the 510 manual and the M401 auto. Which one i like better depends totally on my mood. If you are very much into the "look and feel" of a analog cigarette, then a manual battery will impede your enjoyment, at least at first. It did for me...I had to keep my M401 in my pocket for those moments.

Anyhow, keep perusing the forums, ask a TON of questions, and you will make a solid choice I am sure.

I also got a 510 about 1 week ago. So far so good. Takes some getting use to the flavor at first but give it a couple days and it grows on you.
The batterys dont last that long maybe 3 or 4 for me and I hear that will diminish as they get older but my life saving device is the pass throug. Get one if your on the comp a lot or I think you can even get an adapter for a wall unit. It been a life saver.

Haha. You've been reading these forums and didn't come up with the 510 as a definitive answer? You described it exactly:p:lol:

Try the Puresmoker passthrough too. It'll help with morning cravings, you don't have to bring it anywhere, and it'll open your mind to something that doesn't look like a cigarette. I understand the desire to have one that looks/feels like one and I'm not a mod-nazi, but I'm tellin' ya... worlds of difference. I just wish I'd had the PT for when I first started vaping and still had some morning cravings. It would've done the trick, then I could use a regular 510 all day to maintain my nic levels..

the 510 batteries charge does not last too long because it have not cut off time so that what you get vapor and hit but for sure it does not die faster than auto batteries
