Hi all,
New guy here, been vaping since February from 2 packs of analogs to none. Mostly vaped EGO's until last one died and jumped to mech mod Sentinel M16 and Nimbus atty(both clones). Very much see that this is becoming a hobby quickly and I enjoy it.

Just received some supplies from Wizard Labs to make my own ejuice to further some savings. Hoping to make some decent all day vape juice similar to Suicide Bunny OB, Fahro or Yosi by Epic. Used to 36 mg nicotine from store bought eliquid. I've made about 4 test batches and feel like it's too harsh at 24mg nic but can't understand this as I'm fine with 36 store bought. Recipe is as follows, any tips or guidance is appreciated.

Nicotine- 100mg/ml
85% -VG
15% PG
2% Vanilla Butternut (LA)
3% Coconut Extra Flavor Conc.-TFA
2% Vanilla Swirl -TFA
4 drops only Vanilla Custard Flavor Conc. (TFA)
24 mg nicotine level

Like I said, can't understand why so harsh? Had a buddy try on his EGO and he said it was harsh also, I thought maybe it was my mod making it harsh indicating I could drop the nicotine back to 12mg? Any advice on recipe would be great. Great to find this forum, I'm still digging through all the great info.

Thanks,
Chris

Maybe the store is not really dishing out 36mg. I know a lot of store bought stuff comes in a few percentages lower than they state. Not saying that is the case but it is possible. How long are you letting it steep?

The steeping may be part of it. Warm baths after mixing and now day 2 of steep. Not getting the 36mg actually could be part of it. Feel kind of lucky getting close to an ADV so soon but I wish I could get the harshness down a little.

Hmm, well I vape at 12 mg, 24 would kick my azz at the level I vape at. Your recipe looks on the mellow side far as extracts go. Could be you are not used to the nic base used by the Wiz.

Try a test batch with 18 mg nic and see if it is the nic. Other possible harshness culprits could be simple wicking or air problems with your atty and not be juice problems at all.

As mentioned, a warm water bath, while mixing, helps incorporate the ingredients better, and helps out with flavor development. But by the looks of it, your recipe should rock, maybe cut back on the Coconut a bit, that's seems to be a strong flavor, and I would drop it down to 12 mg, but that's just me.

1) Steeping Required
Speed Steep - Place in a bowl of hot(not boiling water) Cover and keep warm
Shake every 1/2 hour for several hours
Cool to room temp and place in cool dry storage for 1 week (Custard takes time)
Shake Daily - or more often

2) 36mg should be kicking like a Mule

3) Are you going for Coconut as the Front Flavor? extra really is - it should be 1/2 the other flavors max.

*lastly - When doing DIY:
Small test batches
No Nic until you find what you like - avoids Nic waste and gives you a control mix for comparison when adding your Nic.
