I was at the optometrist today picking out a new pair of specs. I asked the woman if it would be okay if I vaped while browsing. She looked at me funny so I decided to pull out on PV and tell her about it. She accepted that it was only vapor but was so against the fact that it contained nicotine, despite my argument that there is next to no nic on the exhale, its in lots of plants besides tobacco, and that nicotine is not the harmful ingredient in cigarettes. I wasn't trying to convince her to let me vape, I had to problem going outside. Instead, I was just trying to educate her.
Sometimes you just have to let people believe what they want, no matter how wrong it is!

I've been discreet so far but becoming more daring - stealth vaping in cinemas, vaping obviously in shops etc - but as a recent ex-full-time-smoker I'm still acclimatised to not being able to puff just anywhere. My own line is drawn when I think to myself 'would it offend me?'... Much like talking on phones in restaurants. I don't go outside for smokes nearly as much as I did, but am happy to disappear around a corner or wall or whatever for 30-odd seconds to vape and come back without a tobacco scent. Just my humble opinion. And Im a noob, so feel free to disregard :). But then Im also an Australian and we tend to be quite British when it comes to manners hehe.

I have had a mixed response from my peanut gallery. You are not alone. Just remember, most new inventions were at first eschewed by those who either did not understand them or did not like change. Telephones, Electric Lights, the internet.... Heck, you are reading this surrounded by things that someone at some point deemed "crazy" or "dangerous".

As for me.........I generally follow the same rules as I did when I was a smoker. If people notice and ask questions, I am happy to educate. But I do not use my vaping tool as an excuse to get away with stuff. And while I have asked a couple of businesses whether I could operate my pv inside their premises, It really doesn't bother me if they say no. Thrilled if they say yes, but I don't actually find it any kind of emergency to vape so often that I cannot complete my grocery shopping or pick up a few things at the mall.

Yes! Aggravating. The town I live in is kind of blue collar (now mostly disability cases and laid-off blue collar) and most people smoke. No one ever said a word when I smoked anywhere, but VAPE? Oh no!!! What IS that!! You can't do that! I'd try explaining, but my hillbilly is a bit rusty and I don't think they'd get proper English.

Anything we do in life good or bad. There are those that are going to judge no matter what. Usually the ones that judge are not happy with themselves and use us as a back board to bounce their personal frustrations off of. Congratulations on getting rid of the stinkys, Let the judgers judge and enjoy your new life without that harmeful stinkys.

Welcome and Vape on!

I refuse to vape in designated smoking areas. I am respectful and will step away from everyone else and try to be courteous, but i stopped smoking for a reason. The smell of cigarette smoke now makes me extremely sick to my stomach and I dont think vapers should be grouped with smokers in the publics uneducated perspective. I do think we should be courteous about where we vape but I dont think vaping in smoking areas is the answer. I quit smoking to be more healthy and second hand smoke totally defeats the purpose.

my wife doens't want me to vape inside, she says it smells bad. (currently using mistic 808's, maybe they do stink a bit??)
so i vape while walking throught the house and she can't smell it. but if i sit in one room and vape she can smell it.
i also vape in my office at work but try to keep it hidden, just don't want any problems with upper managment.

My girlfriend is actually more than happy to see me vaping over smoking, indoors or out, in the car or out and I'm thankful. I vape mostly sweet stuff that I DIY or buy from a select few. Most that smell what I'm vaping compare it to a flavored cigar and I'm okay with that. They don't mind the "odor" and it makes for a good conversation piece; the SVD helps too.

What I truly don't get is that just because something looks like something else it must be equal. Injecting insulin doesn't look much different from injecting steroids, but the diabetics would be outraged to be lumped with those using illegal substances. For those coming from the "but the children" angle.... Will playing GTA make a kid more likely to carjack someone?
