One last thing to mention. I take it you're under the impressing that e-cigarettes are a means to quit smoking AND vaping. They aren't. While many of us who vape have quit smoking and some have even quit vaping. vaping is not intended to be a way to quit smoking. It is an alternative to smoking. So if your boyfriend quits smoking but continues to vape, consider that a blessing. Vaping is better than smoking by a long shot. Nicotine is the least evil thing in cigarettes.

Correction: Pen-style means they look like a pen. What you are referring to is called a mini or super mini depending on the size.

Watch my video. I made it for my friends who are new to vaping and wanted to know what I use. Because they love what I use.
YouTube - E-cig What I use April 2011

Thanks for the clarification.

Agreed. Nicotine is similar to caffeine and is not all that dangerous (deadly in high quantities but so is McDonald's) in fact nicotine has bees shown to have HEALTH BENEFITS and more research is being done on it. Hopefully you can get him vaping and satisfied with it enough to be able to quit smoking completely, that said he may be able to quit vaping and it is possible to do so by stepping down the nic content in the ejuice you use, but do not worry if he keeps vaping, or if he seems to vape more than he smoked. It is healthier than smoking.
Good Luck

, or if he seems to vape more than he smoked.

Yup. Nicotine is absorbed in the upper airways rather than deep in the lungs like smoking, so vaping more is pretty standard. It takes more vaping to get the same effect as smoking. If he sits with it in his hand vaping on it all day long, that's normal. Especially if he was a pack a day smoker or more.

I am really loving this forum! At first, I was a bit nervous in making my first post, thinking I would sound too noob for people to post back seriously, but everyone here is more than generous!

Anyways, thank you! Then to continue with your recommendations, honestly at this point, I am willing to pay for anything if I can help him quit. I've been so worried that cigarettes would kill him someday :/... If I were to buy that small cig looking one that you use, how much would that approximately cost? We're both currently students...so if it's like more than $300..that would be... :X a big ouchie for me and him...
And he doesn't really like the flavored ones XD. In fact, me who doesn't like smoking, was a little tempted to try one when I saw the vendor from the mall selling like strawberry, vanilla, and other fruity flavors! I was like....wow. But he personally like the simple, normal ones haha.... I think the one you're talking about may be good too..I'm just really looking for something that will LAST long....both the battery and cartridges....because when he can't use them....he really urges for the real cigarettes : (

Anyhow, if I want to buy the 510 one...where would be a trustable/ good quality/ fair-priced vendor from this site (or elsewhere)? I really don't want to be scammed again...... :x

BTW, love your profile name. Good luck quitting and happy mother's day : )

This is the friendliest and most helpful community you could hope to find. I'm glad I found EFC. Roxics & Kittie are correct, due to the lack of MAOI's found in cigarettes vaping is less efficient in delivering nicotine. But it was good enough to allow me to quit cigarettes as soon as my ego kit arrived. That was over 2 months ago, haven't touched tobacco since.

This is what my Ego mega looks like, it will give you an indication of the size.

The battery lasts me around 8 hours on a full charge and the cartomizers / cartridge and atomizer combo would last me several hours of heavy vaping.

I modded an XL CE2 cartomizer into a tank for it..
SL380473.jpg

and it works pretty good :)
SL380474.jpg

The tank lasts me about 2 days or more, so with a spare charged battery I can go about 2 days no problem & with the fast USB charger my batts recharge in about 4 hours. So if your bf is looking for fewer refills and charges that would be my recommendation.

When you say you've already spent $200 with this vendor, I have to ask how long your boyfriend has been using e-Cigs. Between the gear and the cartridges, $200 should get you a long way.
.

All I have to say is hahahahaha!!! I wish! No offense intended, but you must not know how these mall kiosk ripoffs work! My husband and I decided to give them a try (before finding ECF of course). Let me tell you: $180 for a kit (2 batts, a charger, and 5 cartos) and $25 for 1 pack of cartos (5 in a pack of course). We got 2 kits (one for each of us) and 6 packs of cartos...of course being told they would equal to one pack per carto we figured we were set for awhile! Few days later had to go back and buy more cartos. We ended up dropping $800 before it was all said and done (although that includes a few sampler packs of juices I bought after figuring out we could refill the cartos). Now we are by no means rich and decided to spend cigarette and grocery money on these and we really wanted to make the switch. So, like many people here, that got me loving the ecig and led me to ECF and the wonderful world of vaping (instead of the initial scam side of that world)! It sounds like the kit the OP got was a little less expensive, but I still don't see $200 getting her much at a mall kiosk.
OP, good luck on finding something that works for him and welcome to ECF! Be sure to read the stickys at the top of the New Members forum page and watch the vids (if you haven't already), they are very helpful and will explain ALOT!

Oh, good info! It sounds like a same case scenario, but I wonder why ours isn't lasting so long. We went a couple days later to get the battery replaced, and he did replace it for us for free, but it's pretty much the same effect: 4-5 hours to charge; lasts only for 1-2 hour, maybe not even?...

But what do you mean by us being able to pick up extras/spares much cheaper than Smokefree sells them for? :p Could you clarify that part for me please?

Hmm, that's disappointing about the batteries only lasting 1 or 2 hours, I'm a *fairly* heavy vaper but still get 3 or 4 hours from them. I found I needed 3 of them to be safe. Are they all lasting the same length of time (roughly)?

Re: "extras and spares". *IF* I'm right about the rn4081 threading, it means you can buy cartos, batteries, chargers, etc. online WAY cheaper than Smokefree sells for. Example: Smokefree batteries run about $55, but you can buy rn4081 batteries online for around $9.95 But don't buy anything for it until someone confirms the rn4081 being correct, I haven't gotten the adapters I ordered yet, so can't be sure.

No problem PW. I should clarify that you only want to remove the white rubber mouth piece. If you disturb the polyfill or the wire it might not work anymore. It's very odd that there was enough liquid left in it that it leaked out. His carto's (that's short for cartomizers), may be different from what I'm used to.
Hope this works out for you guys!

Haha, in fact, we tried opening one up with your instructions and it's so cool inside! Technology wow.... : )

Roxics, your video is absolutely great! It helped my bf able to finally decide on what to buy. He was like HELL yea when he saw all that vape coming out from your third puff in that video. Thanks again!!

I got an ego kit from puresmoker for 49.99 grab some BOGE 510 cartos (1.49 each) a drip tip to fit 510 (3.99) and some juice (try a few different smaller bottles (4.99 for 6ml) untiul he finda a flavor he likes. I was a menthol only smoker but I am not vaping their Mellonica (watermelon) and I love it. Oh and they are in Tennessee and they have a flat $5 shipping

1x eGo kit 49.99
1x Drip tip 3.99
10 BOGE 510 Cartos x 1.49 (they can last a while but are disposable so expect a week or so per cartomizer)
and some juice
you are looking at about $100 and you will be set for a while. add a fruity flavor too trust me the cig flavors get nasty and old very quick as your tastes change from quitting. I hate the taste of cigs now as do most vapers.

~Kitty

Thank you for your detailed, sweet input, Kitty! From your descriptions (and from doing my own research with these flavors...) I'm becoming tempted in trying out the flavors :p yikes..haha... They sound so yummy!

THANK YOU! Your ecig looks pretty cool too! But he preferred Roxics's Riva 510 (though your vapor seems to be pretty strong too). Thanks for the recommendation!

Wow.. $800 is not my dog's name here! hahaha. I guess I'm no way near to complaining next to you! :( But, thank you so much for your advices! I've watched some of the great vids here. Honestly, I am loving ECF!!!

Yes, they roughly seemed to last about the same for him :( He complained how both of his batteries didn't last more than two hours...when they needed to be charged for minimum four, and he's a pretty heavy vaper too~

Hi wonderful ECF members!

I just wanted to let thank you SO much for all of your great advices, input, sincere opinions, and recommendations. You guys are great. I was away for two weeks so I wasn't able to continue the conversation straight through, but I came back and saw all of your posts!

My bf and I sat down and toggled through each of your recommendations, and he finally decided on Roxics's Riva 510 and the Boge cartomizers for his pick! Thank you very much for trying to help us out. We couldn't have picked one out (and saved money!) without you guys! <3 Thank you!!

Isn't it cool......a community of vapers, helping ourselves and each other, interested in seeing people they know and love also try e-cigs........how cool is that!

I don't think the nicotine patch and gum folks have a community like this!! :rickroll:
