So far the Ego seems like a nice starter. I know looks should have nothing to do with it, but I am not fond of the diameter. But I am leaning towards getting it.

I checked for the KR8 and found a couple of places are sold out at least for the manual starter kit.

Someone suggested vapor 4 life and I was looking at the Ultimate Ultimatium Starter Kit.

Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Ultimate Ultimatum Starter Kit

It is on the expensive side but the claim is the batteries last a long time. Has anyone had much experience with their blank carts? I would hope to refill them as many times as possible.

Yes, the battery is a little thicker. The problem is that the smaller the battery, the less time it stays charged. When they say the Kr808 lasts a long time, they mean in comparison to the standard 510. I'd expect you to get between 2-4 (maybe!) hours out of it whereas the eGo will last about 6-12 hours depending on how much you vape (mine lasts about 8 hours).

I found the KR8 kit at Cig Easy for Almost 40% off most others

I just started also and have experimented....I like the feel of the 510, but the kr8 is also good and lasts a little longer and the WOW cartomizers from V4L are Great....They taste so much better than Analogs!!! I love the almost nutty taste of some of the liquids.

I also just ordered the Ego...figured it would be great on the Sailboat :D. Hard to go wrong with the kr8 and refill the Cartomizers using the Condom method....video is on You tube or this forum. Good Luck

If you're looking to vape long-term (aren't we all?) and want something with the least hassle and ultimately the least expensive fills (juice/cartos/pre-filled carts), get an eGo with a drip-tip.

I didn't get an eGo at first, either, because I was concerned about the 'bigness' of it, but I gotta tell ya...these things are so amazing and so EASY. I was one who swore I'd never drip, but now that I've received my eGo with a drip-tip, I've been sooooo happy! I didn't like the filler cartos because of the flavor and lack of vapor production (and the sheer waste of juice)...not to mention the mess. Dripping on an eGo with a drip-tip is nothing short of vaping heaven. It's wonderful.

Oh, and the diameter of the eGo wasn't an issue at all. It actually feels very natural and nice in your hand. I love holding it more than my 'analog-size' 510 and KR808 (which is what V4L is)...and it's so much prettier. :)

And the battery life? WOW is all I can say. I've been vaping on my eGo all day and it's still going strong. There's nothing worse than having to tote around chargers and extra batteries.

I got my eGo's at Cignot. Got a pink one, and a platinum one. Super fast shipping, and great customer service. I highly recommend.

As for juice? FreedomSmokeUSA is having a 25% off sale on ALL of their juices right now, and I love all of the juices I've tried from them. Backwoods Brew is still my all-time favorite.

I personally love both my Vapor King and my ego. I was a pack a day smoker and I vape pretty heavily and the vapor king battery lasts me pretty much all day. And even when it doesn't the personal charging case and passthru that come in that kit keep me going.

I've got several blank cartomizers going right now with different flavors and I've washed some out too. So far performance has been great. The Ultimate Ultimatum kit does seem pricey, but you really do get a lot with it. I don't think you can go wrong with either an ego or the vapor king, OR BOTH! hehe. I have both sitting on my desk right now, I'll hit one a few times, then drip in the other......crazy I know.

I do have to say though that at least to me, flavor is better in my vapor king cartomizers than using the same juice in my ego. I almost always get at least one really bad mouthful of burnt tasting vapor at the end of a drip, but I chalk that up to user error.

I'm gonna throw in one more vote for the eGo here. I'm a 510 user at the moment but I really want something with longer lasting batteries and I plan to try both the mega atty/cart combo and some mega cartomizers to see which I prefer and seems like less maintenance. The 510 has been pretty good to me and I have gotten off of analogs with it but the constant refilling and battery swaps are getting a bit annoying. I can't wait to switch to the eGo, but unfortunately my bank account is telling me I have to wait until I get paid.

I started with Vapor4Life.com's XL batteries (they're KR808D-1 models)...and I still haven't felt a need to switch to anything else. They come in a variety of colors (if you have a preference of LED color, mention that in the comments box...they do read them, and they try to find a battery with your preference...if you have an LED color you really don't want, you can write that in the comments box too...also, if you want two different colors of batteries, you can put in the comments box that you would like one battery to be the color you selected and the second one to be whatever other color...they did that for me once when I got a kit and wanted one pink battery and one green one), manual or auto, are easy-to-use 2 piece models, the XL's last a long time before you have to charge again...I love 'em. A starter kit with XL batteries costs $65 and comes with 2 batts, a USB passthrough (manual), a USB charger, a wall charger, and a pack of 5 cartomizers (you choose the flavor and mg). Shipping usually only takes 2-3 days before I get my orders. You can also use the code smilin for 10% off if you choose to order from them. Click here for that specific kit.

You can also find cheap blank KR808D-1 cartomizers all over the place to fill with liquids of your choice. It's actually quite easy and quick...I thought it would be messy and a pain in the ..., but I LOVE filling my own cartomizers now.

OK. You have some great tips on here and most of us are on a tight budget. So here's my 2 cents. Go to Freedomsmokeusa.com and buy all you need. They have samplers (24 mg only) Buy 0 mg nicotine juice do you can cut them down, if they're too strong. They have Egos and 510 mega carts and atomizers. BEST of all they're having a 25 % sale off everything, going on right now. Just use coupon code fsusa. They have a great reputation around here. Just to begin with, you might also want to try Hopscotch, Strawberry twist, RY4. Better hurry, it won't last long. Hang in there!!!

I am so glad you guys are helpful. I checked out the videos and a message about the tie between the 510 and the kr8.

Too start I want something as maintenace free as possible and according to the message about the tie, the kr8 has less maintenance. Being a single parent, I don't have as much time as I would like to do stuff.

I can tell how much those of you who have posted really like their e-cigs! It shows and it helps us poor poor newbies out :)

I have a tendancy to smoke while driving, so dripping couldn't be my only option.

I wonder if most of you have more than one brand of e-cigs in your collection.

Regarding the Kr8 and the Ego do the batteries last long? I am talking how long before they can't be brought back to life? I know it varies but a rough idea is helpful.

I bought mine last month and they're still going strong. I think I read, in the Ego pamphlet, that they're good for 300 charges (the 650 mah batteries). Now you gotta remember, on the very first charge - leave them on the charger for 8 hrs. Vape with them for about 20 minutes, then put them back on the charger for another hour. That way you are assured of a full charge.

do not order juices from only one company, as I have found one that I do not like at all. Many here like Freedom Smokes USA, and I myself like vapor bomb, if you are looking for inexpensive, sample sizes. You can always trade out what you do not like.

Also, when looking for suggestions on juices, mention what it is that tastes good to you. Tobacco, fruity, or sweet?

Also, I too purchased an ego after struggling with a smallerr 510.

Good Luck.

My answers in bold:

I am so glad you guys are helpful. I checked out the videos and a message about the tie between the 510 and the kr8.

Too start I want something as maintenace free as possible and according to the message about the tie, the kr8 has less maintenance. Being a single parent, I don't have as much time as I would like to do stuff. I think that's because the Kr808 is only a 2 piece system (battery w/cartomizer), while the 510 can use carts, cartomizers or drip tips so it can be either a two piece system or a three piece system (battery, atty and cart) - if you use it as a three piece system there is more maintenance involved.

I can tell how much those of you who have posted really like their e-cigs! It shows and it helps us poor poor newbies out :)

I have a tendancy to smoke while driving, so dripping couldn't be my only option. I have the ego and what I do is use the drip tip all day except when I'm in the car, then I switch to a cartomizer.

I wonder if most of you have more than one brand of e-cigs in your collection. I have the 510 and the eGo, but a lot of the members have both the 510 (or eGo) and the Kr808.

Regarding the Kr8 and the Ego do the batteries last long? I am talking how long before they can't be brought back to life? I know it varies but a rough idea is helpful. The 510 will last about an hour or so with regular (?) vaping, the Kr808 will last 2-3 (maybe 4?) hours, the eGo will last about 8 hours (up to 12 w/ light use).

For you I would probably recommend the Kr808. My only caution is that IMO, since it's a two piece system, you can end up spending more money on the Kr808 than you would with the 510 or eGo system. Buying those cartomizers can really add up - even if you re-fill them. It really depends on how much you have to spend in the long run. I'm hoping this vaping stuff is eventually going to save me money, so I'm sticking with my eGo and drip tip.

Both of them are great units.

Good Luck.

I was feeling a bit over the top. Even though I am one of the newbies on a budget I decided to go for the Vapor King XL kit and the Ego kit. Within 15 minutes of my Ego order I received the email receipt and the notice of shipment. I did remember to order some juice, some blank carts, and a drip tip. With the two kits, I will have 4 batteries, 2 atomizers, and 5 cartomizers, 5 carts, along with the extra cartomizers I ordered. Providing I don't have to replace anything I ordered enough to last at least 4 months. I wanted to order more juice than I ordered, but I ordered quite a lot. I want to wait to order more, but I don't know when freedomsmokes sale ends.

Oh and if you ever need to know where to get realllly inexpensive blank cartomizers for your XL, I'm always looking for the absolute least expensive option I can find, so feel free to PM me about it. If you want, you can add me as a friend, and I'll personally help guide you through your "learning curve" once you get your batteries, as well as helping you find suppliers and such.
