Hello all!

Long story short - New to vaping, using an Aspire pegasus 70w with 0.15coil temperature control. Everywhere I read on the internet talks about 390-410(Fahrenheit) being the sweet spot, but those temperatures are WAY too harsh for me. I start to cough as soon as the least bit of vapor touches my throat. "My" sweet spot is 300 degrees. It's smooth, and produces a good amount of vapor.

Why am I experiencing such a discrepancy? Am I getting inaccurate temperature readings, is it actually hotter than it says it is?

Any clarity on my situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Also, just on a side note, I'm a menthol smoker and have been trying to find a reasonable replacement flavor-wise, but all of the mint/menthol juices I can find are far TOO minty. How does one go about finding liquids mixed with less flavoring?

We all have a different comfort level or Sweet spot. Me, it's 25 watts with a dual coil build on my Aromamizer. You may find a totally different set up that makes you happy.

Try thinning out your juice with a little VG you can buy from the drug store. See if slightly less flavoring would suit you. it's my experience that all the menthol or mint juices were to strong for me as well. I ended up buying juice twice the nic strength I needed and diluting it 50%.

Welcome @FuseUnison! Let me start with, "Everyone's tastes are different". Just "Because" someone runs at such and such a temp or whatever doesn't mean *YOU* will like it at the same setting. Start low - work your way up to what *YOU* like.

Regarding the menthols, Jdurand probably has the best idea - get stronger nic and use plain PG or VG to dilute the nic concentration and the flavor.

There are so many variables. Different coil builds, coil brands, juice consistency, flavor. It can be frustrating. Have you tried adjusting your volts in temp control? You should be able to adjust temp and volts.

For me, I don't even mess w temp control. My mod supports it but I never use it. It's much easier vaping on good ol' kanthal.

As the others stated, lots of variable. The most important one is that with sub-ohms, you HAVE to lower the nicotine levels. Usually no more than 3mg, some can handle up to 6mg, but it's fairly harsh. Above that, expect a lot of coughing. And the warmer you make it, the harsher it gets.

For me, I don't even touch Wattage mode now, temp. control is much too great a thing to not use it.

Just don't set the wattage too high, and you'll just need to adjust the temp. according to the liquid, from one to another, you do need to adjust as some liquids need higher temperatures to work well.

I have my mod/tank set at 45W and at 460F and it's just on the spot... other liquids, I have to bring it up to 500-510 even.

For menthol, there's good ones and bad ones... I wouldn't vape pure menthol liquid, I just add some to my other flavours, but the ones I get are excellent and also quite strong, so just 4-5 drops in a tank and it's very smooth and cool.
