Hiya guys,
So glad to be a part of this community! I've been smoking cigarettes for 14 years, until 3 days ago and I've not had one since with no problems what so ever!
This is working so well for me but I actually joined the forum because I need some advice for my husband!!! We got our vaporizers together but he is not having much success and I've been combing the net looking for some help!
I've noticed he is vaping like a smoker so I found some videos on YouTube which helped me at first! But, we've discovered th big problem...
Now about 3 years ago he had all his teeth removed at the age of 25!!! This is the issue, he can't seem to pull a slow, long draw he can't control the amount of vapour coming in because he is missing the front teeth, so he is finding he has to take very quick lighter "puffs" but it's not satisfying him!
Please if anyone has any tips or tricks please, please, please help me out! The physical affects of smoking cigarettes are damaging him more so than they were for me! He's nearly 28, we have 2 wee girls and he is trying to keep his head up about it and be positive and supportive for me, but I want to focus on and help him, because I'm fine! No negative longs about not smoking cigarettes at all, wish I'd done this year's ago!!!!
So happy to be a part of this, (shall I say it?) revolution! Have an awesome day guys xoxo

I agree with r77r7r. But I suppose it all depends on how your other half smokes. Believe it or not, everybody smokes differently, so therefore most people will vape differently. I mostly use my PV like a pipe! Corner of mouth, relatively long pulls, just using the lips. Maybe he could try that.

What kind of drip tip/mouth piece does he use? That might make a difference too. Good luck staying smoke free!

He's using the standard drip tip that cones with the Kanger Protank 3. I've had no problems using his (I enjoy his a lot more than mine lol, I've got a Kanger Mini Protank 3, I like it but the tank isn't big enough for me, I think the dude at the shop though cos I'm a chick that I'd vape less than my husband lol).
Earlier I sat him down with mine and asked him to watch me really closely and I described the actions I was making and how it felt. After about 4-5 attempts he got a really great vape! I reset his eLeaf istick to be more like my Kanger eGo-t and he's doing heaps better! I think it was more the practise like you say tbh! He's still not sold yet but is willing to give it a serious go! I seriously need to get the eLeaf like what he has as I really hate that I can't personalise anything about my vape! I think I'd like to increase the voltage and I can't argh!!! :)

welcome! it's different for everyone, as said earlier in the thread. I was a dual user for almost a year before I fully switched. it might help for him to step up* his nicotine level.

Hey and thank you! We are on 24mg at the moment! I've told him that I'm not gonna give him crap if he still wants a smoke, I just want him to find his way to enjoy it and I think it will just take time :)! He feels discouraged as for me it was so easy, he needs to not compare it! He's been having an easier time using it but I think he needs to vape for longer periods of time! I'm happy to sit, knit (lol old lady geek) and vape as I'm enjoying the sensation, but he keeps his hands busy, likes a very quick cig then continue! I'm sure over time it will all click for him! I'm trying to get him to check out the community side of vaping, he's a tattooist and his favourite part is the community so I think that angle will help keep him interested and encouraged!!!

Hello and welcome to the forums @CalamityNatalie !!! Everyone is different as you see in the posts above. It took me 3 and a half months of dual use before I could quit completely. I would suggest a tank that has a good airflow control. What are your current setups that you are using? Also, it would just seem to me that he needs to practice. I suggest that as I had the same thing. It will come in time. So at this point, Congratulations on making the switch!!!

Hiya!
So for setups I have a Kanger Mini Protank 3 with the eGo-t (will certainly be upgrading after Xmas) my husband has a Kanger Protank 3 with the e-Leaf istick, it's a pretty cool bit of kit I love using his lol!!!

He sounds hardcore. Hence, I would go with a more hardcore setup. X-mas is right around the corner. Maybe an iStick 50W + Kangertech Subtank Mini + Mini RBA Plus (I don't like the lead trapping mechanism on the Lemo 2) and have him start building coils. Coil building is a great entry point into the community at large and is a topic unto itself. The throat hit and vapor production of five wraps of 22g @ 35-45W on 24mg should satisfy him. I have similarly hardcore friends who only continued to vape after they moved up to more powerful setups. It may cost you a few dimes, but it is worth every cent if he ends up leaving the cigs behind.

Hi, and welcome!

He's trying, yes? That's the first step. And don't sweat the dual use, many make the transition that way. Count the one's he DOESN'T smoke. Have him make it inconvenient to smoke, only smoke outside (but vape inside), put the smokes away so he has to actually go get one rather than just take the pack out of a pocket. Keep the lighter somewhere other than where the cigs are...

I think that sounds awesome! Then I can nick the istick he has now lol!!! I think the coil building is a brilliant idea as he already builds and repairs his own tattoo machines, he'd enjoy that thoroughly!!! Lol, yah he is pretty hardcore about everything in life not just smoking!

Oh yah I'm totally stoked he's even given it serious thought tbh!
We smoked outside anyway as we have 2 wee girls 3 and 5, our 5 year old commented today that "mummy doesn't smell yuck any more but daddy still smells like daddy!" Lol, he just laughed and said he will try very hard to not do things that make him smell "yuck"!
We also vape outside during the day, once the girls are in bed we do inside though, just don't want them exposed to too many adult things! They aren't super mollie coddled, they know we smoke/vape but we make it clear it's not for kids, just like we don't drink around them :)
We are in Scotland and the hubby hand rolls smokes so I can't really make it much more inconvenient unfortunately!
His technique in vaping has improved so much by me sharing the advice on here, practise, practise, practise! He can do smoke tricks so I teased him saying he couldn't blow vape rings, (I knew he'd be able to) and without a second thought he pulled a wicked draw perfectly and blew great rings! I said, "There! There! That's it, you did it!" Lol he was pretty happy about that!

I am looking at pictures of the kanger protank you guys are using and I do not see air holes for the airflow. Is there airflow control with that tank? If not, could also be that he needs a tank that allows better airflow. Just a suggestion. Glad he is getting the hang of it though.

Hmmm, okay so I read this, hubby is playing Fallout trying to practise without overly concentrating, (his new theory is maybe he's now overthrowing the process lol) and I don't see any either! Now my mini protank has 4 wee holes, so that may be a contributing factor! Thank you for pointing that out! I'll show him when he's done playing lol!

The PT1 and PT2 didn't come with the air flow base, but easy enough to swap out.

One source, and good pics and info:
