They are actually big enough to hold 2.5ml but it's recommended to put in about 1.8ml. It's worked really well for me to put in about 1.9ml the first fill the refill with 1ml every few hours. So are you using regular 510 cartos? I am curious how you like them and how often you need to fill them. I might even get a 5 pack to try them out sometime.

Hmm... the thread got moved. Seems like this thread only has benefit for newbies, but whatever. People that vape already know all this stuff...has no benefit for them.

I like the standard carto's just fine. They last plenty long enough. I don't like the carts as I can't get many puffs before having to refill or taste like ack.

Ya I don't know how it made so long using carts and attys after finally trying cartos I don't think I'll use attys much anymore other than occasional dripping.

actually for me the initial cost is already better than what i would be spending on analogs. at a pack every 3 days thats 10 packs a month. so for two months we're looking at $120 worth of analogs.

$65 for my 510 kit with PCC and two 5ml vials
$30 for 5 cartos and 45ml (1x30ml and 3x5ml)
so $95 got me started with well over two months supply... as long as the cartos last me that long.

how long are the 510 cartomizers supposed to last anyway?

As far as how long cartos last, like every questions about vaping, it depends. Here's my personal experience:

I got a 5 pack of 510 cartos on September 10th.

I killed one the first day by vaping it dry and then some (funnily enough I was actually reading about the burnt taste on this forum and wondering whether I'd already hit that point and just couldn't taste it when - AGGGHH!!)

Of the other 4, one is almost ready for retirement as it's developed a very stiff draw.

The other 3 are fine (with chain vaping all day and 2 refills every day. I don't vape them dry, so the refills are more of a top-off)

I've not cleaned them and they taste and produce vapor just like they originally did (or they're dropping off in such a gradual, consistent manner that I haven't noticed it.)

I would agree with that but that doesn't count in the constant hardware replacments....It seems i've just had the worst possible luck but i've been vaping for about a month and a half and i've gone thru at LEAST 4 attys, 2 starter kits (both with 2 attys), one battery replacment, and a passthrough....

I wonder if it might be the Xpower model? Or maybe he is not using it correctly? It has to be one or the other. I was wondering also, but I didn't use mine long before I switched over to carto's, so wasn't the best to have an atty conversation...

Buss, I have the xpower, I really only use the atty to drip and it has been fine so far *knocks on wood* I will keep track of how long I use it before it dies out on me....

I am not sure. I have not had any burn out yet... but have only had my ego 2 weeks and i think i have 15 carto's. But I likely use them a LOT more than you as you didn't smoke very much. I probably fill at least 5 a day, probably more...

Well my first e-cig was joye 510 and I never used a cartomizer but I was using cartridge with matting and filling it up with eliquid aka juice for 8 months *I was still buying cigarettes 1 - 2x packs a day for the past 3 months because I was low on liquid*. I just picked up this past thursday a Riva ego which uses the 510 attys, cartridges and more juice but quit buying cigarettes all together. I am hopefully going to purchase a drip tip, 2x 30 ml bottles of liquid and a couple of lr atomizers because these produce a ton of vapor but also eats liquid like crazy but more vapor production though.

HTH,
Charlie

For those of you wanting to tackle the DIY method, vaping is costing me @ 26-33 cents a day in juice! I'm vaping 2-2.5 ml per day currently.

I bought:
125 ml 60 mg Nic juice from myfreedomsmokes.com- $28
500 ml VG to cut it with from vaporrenu.com- $14
Add in 4 bottles of Cotton Candy 30 ml flavors vaporrenu- $24

$66 bucks spent and I have 500 ml of 15 mg Nic juice and that'll last me 200-250 days!! How cool is that! I know I'll have batteries and attys to replace but at least the juice is dirt cheap if you make it yourself!

Lori

Lori,

I couldn't agree more!!!

I bought:
120ml of 100mg non-flavored e-juice from cloudsofvapor.com - $61
500ml of PG/VG from perfumersapprentice.com - $9

This gives me 665ml of 18mg juice for $70 bucks. I use about 3ml a day in my XHV 801 Indulgence. That equals out to roughly .30¢ a day for 220 days worth.

And for a WHOLE year's worth of vaping nirvana, I'll spend about $110. Versus $7-8 for a pack of death sticks a day ($2,555.00-$2,920.00 a year), ya can't go wrong!.

My Recipe
ingredient ml % of total
PG or VG with nicotine 120 ml 18.0%
PG or VG (no nicotine) 478 ml 71.9%
PGA/Water 67 ml 10.1%
Flavoring(s) 0 ml 0.0%

P.S. I don't add flavor. I'm what you call, A PURIST, lol :p

Ok, cool. I was helping another guy a day or two ago that ordered the Xpower also. So was wondering about it. Have you owned any other models? I was wondering how it compares.

As far as hardware costs, it does sound like that poster had some very bad luck. I had my first battery go poof today... but it was my Safe Cig (4081), so not very surprising. I am becoming convinced that any mini battery simply will not last as the atomizers drain on them damages them. They aren't powerful enough in relation to the draw of the atomizer.
