Hello all!

I’m new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Shannon and I’ve been vaping for about 6 months.

Caveat to that. I started vaping 6 months ago but was doing dual cigarettes and vaping. A good friend introduced me to it and acted as a sort of accountability partner. I managed to get down to less than half a pack a day (a huge accomplishment for me) and was vaping for the rest of the time. My friend is no longer available to me (long distance) and I backslid. I’m now doing more smoking than vaping and I want to get back on track.

I thought joining a vape forum might help me, and maybe I could get some advice from people who straddled the fence at first like I am doing. I’m amazed by and applaud people who say they picked up their vape and smoked cigarettes again but unfortunately that’s not me. Any advice is appreciated! Happy to be here and excited to me you guys!

Welcome to ecf! I mostly vape but I still smoke one or two cigs in a day. It's not a sin and I won't go to hell for it. When I'm ready I'll put down the stinkies for good. Until then I'm proud of cutting down from 2-2 1/2 packs a day to a couple of Joe's a day. Keep working at it and before you know it you'll be vaping more than smoking! Good luck!

One of the key elements that helped me give them up completely was when vaping turned into a hobby. I think you will find the support you need in order to give up the stinkies, and enjoy what vaping has to offer.. They are both nic delivery systems, one is by far much safer than the other. Search around the forums here, there are many topics covered here.. What are you currently vaping on?

Welcome to the ECF Shannon.
I would suggest you go up a level of nicotine. Also, add a mod and tank to your collection.
This is more for having a second flavor around than a backup. Of course, you do need a backup, and a backup for your backup... but what do I know, I only have 10 vapes sitting in front of me.. in use.. (not counting the ones I make, which Are my backups ;) )

Don't feel bad about smoking still. It happens. It took me just a month to fully switch over, but the nicotine levels I used almost 6 years ago would be considered insane now..( I think most thought it was insane then too!). I was a 2+ Pack A Day little cigar smoker back then.

Like I started with on this post, go up to the next higher nicotine level you are currently using. Give that a try, see if it helps you any. If you start getting light headed you will know if it's too high and then can work your way down.

Hello, and welcome to ECF, I started out with the mix as well, a few questions would be what nic level are you vaping at? and Have you found an e-juice you love yet?

Hi there!

I’m at 6mg mic and I have found a great juice that I love. A friend of mine made it and gave me the recipe. I’ve actually gotten into mixing my own and have been expiramenting with mixing my own flavors to give myself a variety. I have about three that I love. Although all those are ones people gave me.

Is 6mg high enough do you think?

Thank you!

Shannon

Anise you make a great point. 2 a day is amazing and probably already makes you feel loads better.

Maybe I’m being too hard on myself. I do have a long way to go to get down to 2 a day though.

If it satisfies all your nic craving then sure.

Keep in mind that a common error for switchers is to set nicotine too low because of the decades of fear mongering and demonization around that substance. That's not really justified and you should choose a high enough level to enable the total switch.
You can always reduce levels later if you so like, more importantly you need to get away from the smelly sticks first.

Just try with higher and lower levels (eg buy the same juice in 12mg and 0mg so you can mix everything inbetween). You'll know it's too high if you feel lightheaded or slight dizzyness.

James that’s a great point. Like I said before, I’ve started mixing my own lately and am loving that. Maybe if I stick with that it will help me.

I’ve upgraded lately to a Sigelei Fuchai mod with a Big Baby Beast tank. It definitely delivers a more authentic feeling for me but I’m open to any suggestions.

    Thank you!

    Supplydaddy,

I was wondering if 6mg might have been to low to start with. It’s what my friend started me on so I just went with it. Trying out a 12mg might not be a bad idea.

Getting a backup mod system sounds like a good idea. I do feel kind of pressured to stick to an “all day vape” but perhaps variety throughout the day could be helpful.

Congrats on kick 2+ packs a day!!! That’s amazing!

    Untar,

Thank you for this advice. I’ve been feeling like maybe my mic level isn’t strong enough. I’ve just been nervous about bumping it up. But in the end I want to be successful so I’ll give that a try.

    Thank you!!

Willkommen to the forum! When i first started, I was doing about 13-14 ciggs a day, so I started with 24 mg on a Ego-C. that helped me cut it down to 4-5 a day and then from there i went to 0 ciggs. About a year before i was doing a pack or more a day. But to be honest, if i did mods before, I would have to been able to get down to 0 much earlier!

At the end of the day, its all you and your mental strength to say no ciggs!

I have four different mods I rotate between. Gives me variety in my flavors. I've been known to vape one, set it down and go on to the next one. It's part of what keeps me vaping more than smoking . I agree with making it a hobby. I've gotten into making my own coils and it gives me a challenge and something vape related to do. Stick around and learn from the veterans. When it's time you'll put down the cigs for good.

    Storm,

Okay that’s more than enough confirmation for me between your reply and others than I’m not on strong enough nic.

Why do you say if you’d been into mods before you’d have had better luck? Just curious. And what’s your favorite setup right now?

    Thanks!

Anise which are your favorite mods and tanks? Looking for ideas for a second setup.

I'm pretty much a newbie myself. You'd probably do better asking someone else. I have a Smok procolor and al85, a Pegasus, an aspire skystar and a hcigar aurora squonk that I use as a regular mod cause I can't figure out how to squonk lol. I have a bunch of different attys, Smoks, uwell, kanger tech, goon rda, dead rabbit and ijoy combo rda and a few rtas. I think I'm addicted to attys! Watch out or you'll catch the bug too! Lol
