Hi, I'm fairly new to ecigarettes but really love them! I started out with KR808D-1's with cartomizers, which worked pretty well and lasted a long time.

I recently bought the Joye Ego and love the throat hit, taste and incredible vapor it produces. However, my problem is that the Ego cartridges only taste good for the first 10 minutes, and then the flavor disappears! I have tried pre-filled cartridges and the new 510 cartomizers and have also filled blanks with eliquid but they all last for the first 10 minutes. The blanks tend to hold only 14 to 18 drops depending on the eliquid before the liquid starts to pool, which seems pretty low. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have any advice on how I can extend the great taste and vapor of the Ego cartridges? Thanks for any advice!

First, the cart will only hold about 12 drops, sorry but they are kinda small. Basically what is happening is the juice is not feeding to the atty fast enough. You can just keep topping it off, drip instead, try a cart mod, or switch to cartomizers. For best flavor I like dripping or highping's cart mod. I can vape fairly constant for about an hour with highping's cart mod

Check the cartridge mods section. I have the best luck with highpings mod once you get it right. It is the easiest to get right and if you have prefilled carts, then you have what you need.

Other then that, I tend to use a drip tip when stationary or a 510 cartomizer if I won't be able to fill a cartridge or drip IE; driving.

PS: And welcome to ECF!!!

The best luck i had with the 510 atty at 3.7v was with blue foam filler and dripping. I actually didn't have much luck with either alone but started dripping a drop or 2 on the atty and topping off the cart every 10-15 puffs and it worked well for me.

I think dripping on the 510 atty really shines at higher voltages. At 3.7 its a constant balancing act for me. 3 drips would flood the atty and 2 drips would tend to run dry really fast.

I recently started using cartomizers and highly recommend them. I load a fresh carto with 25 drops of juice or so and they vape well for much much longer than a cart (> an hour without refilling). For me they are performing better than regular attys and need less maintenance. I think I paid $1.50 per cartomizer and they are lasting me 3-4 days before I toss them.

Another thing I'm really liking about cartomizers is that I can use the same ones on all my devices. I use them on my eGo (3.7v), my vp pt (5v), and my silver bullet (6v and 3.7v) and they perform super with all of them. I think the sweet spot is the cartomizer on the sb at 3.7v, best vaping I have had so far!

Happy Vaping :vapor:

I got some 510 cartos to try them out (I'm a rabid dripper usually lol) and Ive been pretty impressed with them but they dont last forever (id say they were MORE disposable than normal atties actually); pretty decent for going out n about with though. I got a set of 5 blank ones from madvapes.com - it was $10 for 5 refillable blanks (not including shipping).

Hey CaptJay-I also have mapvapes 510 blank cartos and I've noticed when I first use them they have a funny taste but after refilling a few times it goes away. I've loaded peppermint and Tastyfingers. Have you noticed anything like this? The peppermint has taken care of the funny taste but TF hasn't got spot on flavor yet. Just was wondering...........

I personally am a LR atty dripper... however i have experimented with a good bit of different methods. Of what i have tried: using carts, blue foam together with highpings plug mod works wonderfully when using a standard atty. I could vape for a consistent 20-30min straight before needing to refill.. and using this mod the cart alwasy went "dry" before needing to be refilled.

Using Cartos: I bought a 5 pack of cartos from Madvapes.com.... i highly recommend using Dog's no filler mod see link: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/89663-dogs-nf-carto-mod-kr8-atty-510-vertical-atty.html .. using this mod im able to drop in 15ish drops consistantly and vape away for a 35 or so minutes before i notice any drop in vapor... i will note, these cartos IMO dont last long enough to make it worth it.. i was getting a day or two of solid use before i felt like the taste and TH was just horrible and trashed it (by trashed it, i mean its retired to a paper towel)

Again, for taste, Th, vapor production.. im a huge supporter of low resistance atty's on my eGo and Direct dripping them.

I've had good luck with these cartridge mods: straw and ZFM ('H' cut vs hole). I also love to drip with the eGo but standard not LR atomizer.

So pretty much I'm agreeing with what everyone else says. The wicking of liquid from the filler to atomizer of an unmodified cartridge isn't so good. Try the different mods til you find one you can do and that works for you.
