Newish user with a few scattered questions

So I quit smoking a long time ago, and switched to Blu, those were good for me, got me away from the coffin nails; but after a few months of getting e-juice in my mouth, several replacements of batteries and the charger, and many other annoyances I gave up on them completely. I was about to start smoking again when I found this site, read enough to feel overwhelmed, looked at the 'starter' suggestions and ended up getting a KangerTech EVOD starter kit, and two flavors, Root Beer and Coumarin Pipe, from Mt Baker. Got them yesterday, the Root Beer is good and strong, but I can't seem to taste much in the pipe, not sure why there but even so I am already much happier with them than I ever was with Blu. (though if i could find the Johnson's Creek Tobacco flavor they used to carry then I'd jump at it.)

Now for my questions:
1) I read about certain flavors being hard on the plastic tanks most companies sell, and that to avoid this you should get a glass tank, how do you tell if the flavor will be hard on a plastic tank?
2) How do I tell what kind of threading my battery has so I can get the appropriate tank if I don't want to purchase from the same seller as the battery?
3) I live in the middle of nowhere, there isn't even a supermarket for 100 miles in any direction, so I have to order all my vaping equipment online but money is tight (part of the reason I went so long before starting again was being burned with the expense of blu), what are the best, and least expensive places to purchase replacements, and e-juice?
4) Mech Mods, I read that as long as you are willing to tinker they are a durable, user serviceable, and customizable option, but when I tried to figure out how to get started I was lost in the sauce like a raw recruit with a bad map and a broken compass. Any links to beginner guides would be greatly appreciated

I'm sure that these questions have been answered already, but I'm having a devil of a time finding them without feeling overwhelmed with the deluge of information there is out there, thank you for your time.

Welcome to the forum, and so happy to meet you!:)

I'm pretty new still myself, about 6 months in, but maybe I can answer a couple of your questions. About the juices being hard on plastic tanks, some of the juice vendors have a list, usually citrus juices and some others have been know to cause a problem with plastic tanks.

I have the same rootbeer flavor from Mt. Baker that you have, and I can say it hasn't caused any problems. And about the other flavor not having much taste - it could be the juice, or it could be that your taste buds have not awakened yet from smoking. I know I smoked very heavily for lots of years, and I still don't taste the flavors as well as others seem to.

If you have a Kanger Evod kit, it has "ego" threading, and many, if not most of the popular tanks will work with it. I started with the same kit, and bought different tanks as I went along. Here is a link to a good, inexpensive tank that I use that will work with your Evod kit. It is made of glass, so you don't have to worry about damage from any juice you use.

Smok Tech Pyrex Aro Tank

I also buy juice from Mt. Baker Vapor and think they have good juice for a nice price. Fast shipping and good customer service. Everyone here has their favorite juices and places to buy them, so you might get lots of opinions. I'm on a fixed income and price is important to me, so I've stuck with Mt. Baker and I'm very happy with their juice. I don't need gourmet juice, I just need to not smoke.:)

As far as where to order vape gear online, you have tons of choices. If you just keep reading the forum, you will see people recommend good places to shop. It depends on what you want to buy, but there are a lot of reliable places with good prices.

About the Mech Mods, I can't help you. I'm female, and don't have an interest in building stuff. There are a lot of people here who are really into that, and I'm sure someone will come along and talk about it soon.

as for juice and stuff i believe giantvapes has free shipping and for the flavors its usually acidic fruity flavors that will crack tanks ive never had any problem with this but the maker of the juice will usually state if they are tough on plastic tanks, welcome aboard, mech mods are fun but please research thoroughly and dont skimp on batteries and make sure you know about ohms law etc.. plenty of youtube vids about this stuff, once you start with the mech mods theres no going back :)

Citrus and cinnamon are both known as tank crackers, I like both.

Your battery probably has a connector that has threads on the outside and inside. The inside threads are 510 and the outer ones are ego. Just about any atty you buy will fit. There are some mods (they are called hybrid) that are built without a standard connector and are designed to use their own atty but they are rare.

I, fortunately, shop more for flavor than price so I can not help you there.

I have some mech mods and some regulated mods and I like the regulated ones better. First, they are safer. Second they will not let me run the battery too far down. Third I have not vaped above 20 watts yet so i still have 15 to go with generally available mods. Unless you want to go sub ohming, or like the way mech mods look, I would stay regulated.

What you are calling a battery is actually a mod. It contains a battery, probably electronics, and a connector. What kind is it? We can tell you for certain what type of connector it has.

Welcome my friend, as for e juice the best and most economical way to go is to make your own juice. I make my own and it's sooo easy and fun. You can check out the do it your self juice forum here and find out what you need. Basically you will order to start out, your nicotine, which is your biggest expense at about 40 dollars for a large bottle, your pg and vg is only about 17 dollars for a huge bottle and flavors which run 1.50 for small bottles and 3.00 for big bottles, you will need empty bottles which are about 5 dollars for a huge box and some measuring syringes which are about 60 cents each or less. So for under 100 dollars you will have everything you need to make lots of juice. It works out to be about 20 cents a bottle cost as compared to 6 to 12 dollars a bottle. It's a huge savings plus you can make it exactly the way you like it! ! Hope this helps.

Welcome in!....I too am out in the middle of nowhere, perhaps we are distant neighbors! If you have a battery like this a 510 or Ego style tank should work.

Sun Vapers is a good, reasonably priced place to get your coils, etc., for your Evod. Fast shipping, very reasonable pricing. I buy the coils for our Evods from either them or Mt. Baker Vapor. They both also have a nice selection of tanks and accessories. Vape Dojo is another vendor that carries supplies and accessories for the Evods.

As far as tanks go, you will probably be wanting to get a glass tank. The Protank 2 Mini is a good glass tank, and it will use the same Kanger single coils as your Evods.

I have been managing to get extra use out of the coils by cleaning them. I also just this week started dry burning. It really does help to save money and prolong the life of the coils.

As far as eliquids go, we really like Mt. Baker Vapor. Good selection, customizable, good customer service, fast and reasonable shipping, discounts, and we really like most of the flavors that we have gotten from them. Killer Juice is another reasonably priced vendor. We just got our first order from them, so I can't tell you yet how we like them, but shipping is fast and reasonable, they run specials - I think weekly - with certain flavors for .99. Seattle Vapor and Vapor Bomb are 2 others that we have tried. A little higher priced, but they both have a good selection, fast shipping. Vapor Bomb was our first eliquid supplier, and we liked most of the flavors we got from them straight out of the mailbox - we had not had time to build up a stash. They also run a "Flavor of the Week" 30 ml for $10. Seattle Vapor is another new vendor for us, but so far we are liking the eliquids we got from them enough to have placed and received a second order. The Vapor Room is another that is a bit higher priced, but they run 4 "Flavors of the Week" at 30 ml for $10, and a "Weekender" that is $7 for 15 mil Monday through Thursday, or $5 Friday, Saturday and Sunday. EliquidSamples is a vendor that sells 1 ml samples from a variety of vendors for a reasonable price. Just enough to put in your tank and see if you like the flavor, without the risk of being stuck with a full size bottle of something you hate.

Good luck, and have fun.
