Next step in ANTZ madness - ban barbecuing in parks because it re-normalizes smoking

You will not be surprised that this is being proposed in NYC:
«In the New York borough of Brooklyn, there are calls to ban grilling in Prospect Park in an effort to rid it of "toxic fumes".»

BBC News - Is it anti-social to use barbecues in parks?

Counterpoint: isn't it anti-social to have a burning desire to impose your own bigoted, anti-fun agenda onto others? IMO, those who are unwilling to live and let live have no place in society, and forfeit their right to voice an opinion. They're more then welcome to crawl under a rock and never come out.

When will people stand up and tell these .......s that enough is ....ing enough?

I own a rental unit in a condominium complex.
The association is proposing to ban smoking on your own balcony.

I know it is more for insurance reasons than it is for people whining about wafting smoke.
But I don't really care.

It's all gone way too far, and it isn't showing any signs of stopping.

By the way, I should note that since I do not live there, I am not always aware of things that are going on.

In fact, I found out about this through an email sent to me by one of the other owners there.
He is not a smoker, but he is against this on basic principles.

We need more people like that in this world.

Straight out of the ANTZ rule book: ""Cooking in public places should be illegal," insists Masterchef judge Gregg Wallace, a noted barbecue-phobe. "It's going to smell. It's going to cause a mess. If you want to cook you should do it in the kitchen."
Same fight, different product.

It really is all about the puritanical .... cheeks isn't it. I wish I could remember the quote.

From a public health perspective, it makes a whole lot more sense to ban barbecuing, campfires and driving automobiles in parks (that are located near homes) than to ban cigarette smoking (and especially to ban vaping) as the former emit far greater levels of smoke and air pollution.

When our neighbor (from two doors down) uses his propane gas grill to cook, I have to shut our front door and all front windows in our house (just to breathe).

And when our neighbor (from four doors down and the street behind ours) lets his kids burn a campfire in his back yard, I have to shut the back door and all back windows in our house (just to breathe).

Two years ago I thought our house was on fire (due to the huge amount of smoke coming in our windows) and almost called 911 to report a burning house in our neighborhood (before I realized that our selfish neighbor was burning a campfire in his back yard). After I confronted the neighbor, and he told me to go to hell, I told him to either put the fire out or else I would call the fire company and the police (and he could explain to them why he was burning a campfire in the City of Pittsburgh), which quickly resolved the problem.

Those who have air conditioned homes may not mind outdoor air pollution. But its no fun shutting your doors and windows when its above 90 degrees with high humidity.

That's also why most municipalities banned outdoor burning of leaves/grass/trash many decades ago.

There's a difference when gov't does it vs. private owners/associations. While it takes some effort and perhaps money to move to a house or apartment that doesn't have those restrictions, it's another thing when you have to move out of the country. Where would you go? People used to come to the United States to avoid that type of oppression - not anymore.

   You know, if these nutters would simply... stop breathing that would solve all the problems. Theirs as well as ours.

Gee, how are they going to side-step the matter of all the pollutants from car exhaust while attacking the nefarious NYC outdoor - and family friendly I might add - outdoor barbecue? Oops - better not mention that. Double standards have been known to make their heads spin around and pop off.
