I was at 18mg for about 7 months. I recently dropped down to 12mg and it's working out good so far.

I think it's best to let your body tell you when it's time to reduce the nic levels. It seems like the most practical way to know when you're ready. In my case, the throat hit at 18mg was starting to feel harsh so I decided it was time.

Personally I have no intention of dropping my nic level. I'm at 24 with the occasional 18 and that's my range. Anything less is pointless and anything more sends my head spinning. But I like nicotine. Been vaping now for five months now and have had no adverse side effects from it. In fact I feel totally leveled out, wish I had started years ago.

I started at 18 mg nearly a month ago too and am still there. I tried to reduce nic right away but I started having withdrawals I wasn't ready for. Clearly this is going to be a slow process for me because basically I'm not a fan of suffering or being uncomfortable.

What I am thinking of doing is buying two small bottles of each flavor (or flavors that go together), one that is 18 mg and one that is 0 mg, and mixing them to smaller increments of nicotine until I get to the next "level."

I Think this one will differ from one to another.

I myself been on 18mg for more than 7 months. Then decided to cut down to 12mg. Initially I was vaping more to get the same amount of nic I use to get when I was vaping 18mg to satisfy my need. The process took around a month until I got to normal vape timing and 12mg nic level.

Just wanted to know how long some of you guys waited before you tried dropping your nic level? I've been at 18mg since I started 4 weeks ago.

I started on 16, thought it was a little thin, bought a bottle of 24 that the local shop mixes at the same time I replaced my cheap clearo with an evod.

That 24 hits like a bus out of a quality clearo,, so I went and got a second bottle of the 16 to lighten it up a bit.

The added benefit, is I'm vaping Cherry Dr. Pepper. ;>

I was thinking I needed some cherry for my cola :)

I'm wonder too if this will change when my Protank II arrives, if it will make a difference in what strength of nic I need. I am used to the bottom coil Evod tanks (the plastic ones with the replaceable coil heads). Anyone know if that will be significantly different with a PT II or Mini PT II? I bought them because Pyrex instead of plastic.

 Cherry Dr. Pepper you say?? I must now go in hunt this down. Its mind boggling how many flavors of juice are available.

To the OP- I've been vaping for three weeks and the first two was at 12mgs, but I was chain vaping allllll the time. Followed some advice I found here and and now I have 2 tanks filled, one with 8mgs to chain on, one with 12mgs for when I really need an extra kick of nic. I've been reaching for the 12mgs allot less, so I guess its working.

+1 here. The nicotine in and of itself is no more harmful than caffeine. It was all the other s..t in cigs that cause all the health issues. The hype over nicotine is the delivery method when smoking. The processed food most of us eat on a daily basis is more harmful than nicotine. I haven't heard of anyone wanting to cut down on food because it is harmful. Heck, even the healthy stuff can kill you! Look at the recalls on vegetables for eColi. This would be a preference not a requirement IMHO.

First to the OP: Your body will let you know if you overdo the nic. It's called nic sick. A nauseated feeling, headache, general feeling of yucky. Pay attention to what your body is telling you.

As someone stated, sometimes the nic will start tasting harsh/strong peppery tasting. Some like that but others don't. When I started getting that taste, I started dropping down. It took about 2-3 months for me to go from 24 to 18. Another few months and that started getting that mouth harshness.

Now 17 months later, I'm down to 8mg. I would like to get to 0 but if I don't.... That's ok too. :)

Has anyone actually quit the nicotine dependency by using e-cigs? Just curious. Seems unlikely.

I know of 2 people that still hang around ECF that have stopped vaping. I also know of several members that vape 0mg but keep 6mg on hand for those trying times.

Yes, it's possible and there are a lot of people that are trying to quit nic and are using e-cigs to do just that. :)

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I want the nicotine, and not ready to change it yet. I may wind up buying some lower levels for the times I seem to want to chain-vape. I find I'm liking the vaping so much that I can't seem to put it down.

I was a very heavy 40 year smoker. I started at 24mg with a little 18mg at times...and 6 mil per day. My body told me to cut down after about 2 months as I began to get jittery, anxiety, sleeplessness. (also cut back on caffeine) After 18 months I'm at 7.5mg with an occasional 9mg. Each step down was because of my body...not a conscience decision.
