Hi so I've been vaping for well I lost track but I think probably 2 years. Anyways I vaped different nic strengths at first because all the flavors had predetermined nic levels. But for the most part it's been 12mg nicotine and I was wondering if it's time to step it down to 6mg and what your experiences have been cutting back your nicotine. Any less satisfaction? Or has it been better in your experience. Does it effect the taste of your vape or anything like that? Also I say this because I vape a lot I think. The only time I'm not constantly vaping is when i'm at work. I haven't had too bad of side effects. Every once in awhile I'll get a headache which I think is caused by the vaping but it's pretty rare I think. So yeah I'm just wondering if it's time do you think?

I think this completely depends on your goals. Are you trying to break your nicotine dependency? If so, I think bumping down you nicotine level is a great idea.

In my opinion, the flavors all got better when I went from 18mg to 12mg, and then better still when I went from 12mg to 9mg. At the higher levels there was always a subtle peppery nic tasted that I didn't like. I do not taste it anymore.

For me the most obvious sign if too much Nic is indigestion.

I think another important question is your gear. What do you vape on? Is it adjustable wattage? If so, what wattage do you usually use.

I hope I'm not posting too much I just have lots of questions and I kind of just post them as they come to me. I wanted to know what you guys do with your extra ejuice. I mean I never let my tank run empty so I'm always topping it up. So what do you do when you want to clean your tank and you have to remove the extra liquid. Do you throw it away or do you store it somehow for future use?

Hi Scotty. The headaches are probably from nicotine sick (too much nicotine). Search Results for Query: nicotine sick | E-Cigarette Forum[node]=39

When I started vaping a year ago I was at 12mg. I took my nic down in steps and reached zero nic a month ago. I haven't noticed any less satisfaction, and after the first reduction the rest were easy. (confidence issue) I kept a tank with the higher nic handy so if the reduced nic wasn't cutting it I would take a hit or two and then go back to the reduced nic juice. It usually took a week or so to get adjusted to the lower nic.

Nicotine by itself can have a harsh peppery taste so in my DIY I don't have to try and cover this taste. I haven't noticed any loss of flavor from zero nic, and probably am getting more flavor.

What I don't get anymore is the craving. I vape for pure enjoyment (it relaxes me).

You'll have people who will not reduce their nic and people who will so it's all up to you. When I quit the cigs I wanted to be free so I made a conscious effort to reduce in steps.

Good luck in your decisions.

If I need to clean my tank for a flavor change, I'll try to time it with being time to refill anyway. If the juice hasn't been sitting in it for a long time, I'll pour it back into the bottle or use a dripper to pull it out.

So yeah I'm using a subox starter kit. I'm running the .5 ohm coil and I'm using a max vg with a few drops of pg/vg to add some flavor. I'm still experimenting with wattage but I've found it almost perfect at 32.8w. Because there's no ramp up time and the vape feels amazing. I also use an evod tank on a vision spinner II when I'm out and about. It may seem high but I find it works best at around the 4.2-.3. range. I use a higher pg in that cause it seems to wick better and seems more appropriate for that kind of tank. As far as nic level goes I was just saying because like I said I vape a lot and just want to be safe. I don't necessarily want to vape less just safer.

I went from 24 to 2mg in my 2+ years. About every two months I would buy the next lower nic level. I would maybe vape a little more for a week or two, but then it would settle. Then I went about a month just to make sure I was comfortable at that content.

But, going from 18mg to 12mg is cutting 33%. So I had 18mg and then bought 12mg of the same flavor and mixed them for 15mg. I did the same with 12mg and 6mg. Dropping from 6mg wasn't really noticeable. All-in-all, I did not have any withdrawals that I detected.

When I run a tank dry is when I make the decision on whether to clean the tank. When rewicking the rba is another time I usually clean the tank. I have poured juice back into the bottle but it's very rare.

If you do decide to drop to 6 you can buy the same flavor in a 6 or a zero nic. Combining a 6 mg and a 12 mg in equal parts will give you a 9 mg juice. Combining a zero nic and a 12 mg equally will give you a 6 mg juice.

I'd keep the evod/spinner for the 12 mg, and drop the Subbox to 6mg. 12mg in a Subbox is really strong, at least twice what it would be in the spinner.

The better the delivery device the more juice consumed, the more nicotine ingested.

I started vaping with 2.4 and experimented with everything available at my local Vape Shop. Considering I am only passing 1.5 years since I quit smoking Cold Turkey the most surprising thing I have found is that without the 6,999 other chemicals in a regular cigarette not vaping for a day will not make me have Nicotine fits! Now I use 1.2 or 1.8 regularly mixing and sometimes I will buy .6 or Zero.

I DIY my juice so I have total control over my nic levels.

When I started vaping I used 24mg juices. I've gradually stepped that down over the past 2 years and now I vape mostly 2mg juices through my subohm tanks and 6mg juice through my Nautilus. Since I made the changes in gradual steps I never noticed the reduction. Dropped about 2mg every 2 months.

My wife doesn't know it but she's dropped from 18mg down to 12mg. Since I make her juice as well I've been gradually reducing her nic level without telling her. She hasn't noticed.

I always had problems stepping down 6mg at a time, I'm currently down to 1.5mg drip 3mg tank, my suggestion is get 1 bottle of 12mg and one bottle of 6mg mix them together and you'll get 9mg, less of a leap and more of a step :)

As for my own experience, I just vape more for a week maybe 10 days then I adjust to the lower nicotine levels and it becomes normal, although I do keep a setup with 12mg in it incase I do get a crazy craving and it's instantly satisfied. I use that 2-4 times a month, sits so long I'll change the juice and clean the coil because it gets old lols.

nic level in mg/ml and wattage, go together.

if you double the wattage and half the mg/ml strength, it's basically no change.

Why not try asking her she likes your DIY juice? I would be curious what she thinks when you tell her you knocked the Nicotine level down without her knowledge! The minor decrease is hardly noticeable as say dropping from 1.8 or 2.4 down to .6 or Zero. :2c:

I already know she likes my DIY juice better than the stuff we were buying for her. She only vapes straight menthol, nothing else, so mixing her juice is really easy. Once I got the amount of menthol she liked I wrote down the recipe. Everything stays the same every time except the amount of nicotine I'm putting in it.

She still thinks she's vaping 18mg and I'm not about to tell her any different. I might tell her once I have her vaping a 0% nicotine juice, but until then, ignorance is bliss.

Blissful up until the time you tell her you have been lying or deceiving her and she lists all the things she has noticed or experienced. You know how women do not like to be messed with.........:-x

Nicotine is a stimulant and can definitely give you a headache, disrupt your sleep, affect your appetite, etc. Treat it as a drug and, if possible, cut back. Try a lower level, try not to think about it too much, and, if you don`t have a craving for a cigarette, you`re golden. It took me almost two years but I went from 18 to 12 to 6 to 3mg/ml of nic (three or four months apart). Now, as a chain vapor I can go to bed and not lay there with my heart pounding and my eyes wide open.

We've been together for 22 years. I'm pretty certain I know her well enough to know her reaction, and she knows me well enough to know that I only have the best intentions for her.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark here.... Are you single?
