Is it just me...?
I started out with low & medium levels, now I'm bumping up to 24mg nic...the plan was to go down to zero.
Anyone else or am I just a weirdo?
Princess.....I started out with 24 and 36......seem to always be vaping 36 now...try to stay lower at work..but at home 36..Still better than analogs in my book!:)The Wiz

I am stuck at 24mg now. I have been analog free for only 25 days so I cannot determine how much I can reduce the nicotine intake in the future. Right now, 24 is working for me. E-cigs, to me, are like smoking ultra light analogs so I need to know I am inhaling something. If not, I am not satisfied. Fortunately I was menthol smoker so many menthol-ly juices give my throat the preception that it got a decent draw from the e-cig. I may try to dilute some 24mg with other stuff (glycerine, distilled water) to see how I do. Obviously, lowering nic intake and shooting for 0 nicotine vaping is an eventual goal.

I was optimistic enough to follow the advice from the first website I bought an e-cig from and bought medium strength juice with the device since I had been smoking Marlboro lights until I started rolling my own with light tubes, and I got nothing from it. Bought the 18 mg from them hoping that would help, and it still wasn't enough to keep me off of analogs. Got the 24 mg from Johnson Creek afraid it was too high, and it wasn't... got a couple of good hits from time to time, but my super mini style e-cig just isn't giving me enough vapor. I just ordered a couple of Pilot kits from Puresmoker as part of last night's mad rush, along with a sampler pack of 24 mg juice, and if that doesn't give me what I need, I'm afraid I'll be stuck on analogs for even longer, and I really don't want that - I don't even particularly enjoy them anymore. My plan is to dial down to zero eventually, but I'm with Vapor Wizard - if I can keep off the analogs, I'll vape 100 mg if I can find it... :) Would most say that they can get the same nicotine effect from e-cigs as they did with analogs, even at a higher-than-expected juice strength? When I've gotten it, I liked it a thousand times better, it just seemed cleaner... even with a less-than-optimal device, I've already found that I prefer vaping to smoking, but I've gotta get my fix or the deal's off! Thanks, Tim

Don't underestimate the power of nicotine. :)

Even if you go higher...or stay the same...is that any different than increasing your intake on analogs? Most of us went from Marlboro Reds to lights to ultra lights because of the *taste* of the analog. Most analogs have the same nicotine content.

Also, don't underestimate the power of addiction to the other parts of an analog. There's hundreds of chemicals in those things, including chocolate flavoring...which may have satisfied other cravings. Anyway, I guess my point is...why worry?

You'll know if you're gonna overdose...you'll feel it.

I started with the 24mg because I was a pretty heavy analog smoker. I'm using ecigs to try and quit analogs. The 24mg was ok but I was still craving analogs. I had ordered some 36mg menthol from TW because I couldn't get more True Menthol from Puresmoker with their move and all. The 36ml at first about blew the top of my head clean off. So I started cutting it and it was better. Than I started getting used to it. Now I use it to add to my cart when I feel a nic fit coming on and it really has helped. I don't use the 36ml exclusively all the time. I eventually want to cut down on the nic and quit all together. But right now while I'm in the early stages of stopping analogs it is helping me. I'm going on my 5th day of no analogs. Yippee! Whatever nic level you are at, I agree it's better for you than analogs. You will find what you are comfortable with. Good luck!

I started with med about a month ago and am up to 24 now, the 11 and 18 didn't give me the nic I felt I needed. I would like to cut down more but dont want to start analogs again, I had to put our dog to sleep today and cried my eyes out, found an analog in my truck lit it, took two drags off it and threw it out. Analogs are disgusting tasting. Hopefully I can cut down to med then low. I miss my dog.

tester jester,
try a pen style, you'll get more vapor and thus (i think) more nic per hit. 901 or 801 are good, screwdriver is good too but a little funky to hold and use,

I've found this too. I've read on the forums that if you think you need medium you'll actually be using low carts, etc. (yes we're using carts till we get the hang of things). Either way, medium just wasnt cutting it. I was vaping through the carts very quickly. We moved up to the high (16mg I believe) and now we're finally getting satisfaction.

Maybe that's what I need to do too! I am still having one to two analogs a day, and vaping medium liquid. I haven't tried the menthol yet, but ordered some from PS. I just find the vaping doesn't hit my throat as much as the analogs do, to give me the satisfaction that I just had a cigarette. Maybe I need higher nic. liquid, or a penstyle?

I have the Pilot 401/402 kit. Very happy with the vape production.
Should work great for you.

Closet Toker and rmasu, thanks for the feedback... I'm hoping the Pilot I ordered will do the trick, and with the variety of strengths I'll have, I should find my zone - if not there's definitely a penstyle in my immediate future!

ShimmyPrincess, thanks for starting this thread, and to everyone for their replies, this was a question I had but wasn't sure how to phrase it... :)

If we get used to nicotine we develop tolerance and have to take more for the same effect. That also increases dependence and the potential health problems.

If we vape nicotine in a similar way to the way we smoked - getting intake spikes, then tolerance doesn't develop and we need less nicotine for the same effect.

I'm trying to keep my tolerance low and effects high - I like the nic buzz I can get when I have a spike. By vaping zero or low all the time with a couple of drops of high or medium occasionally for a spike when I get a craving I've found it better than a constant dose at any strength.

Very sorry to hear about your dog...that's exactly what happened to me when I quit for 7 months...on my way to the vet to have my dog put to sleep (mom driving & chain smoking) and I started back up again.
I was a marlboro menthol light smoker, but 2-3 packs a day. I was told to get low & medium...guess it wasn't enough nic for me. I lasted a week with that amount and ordered higher nic carts. I do syringe fill and drip. Just ordered some more juice from PS, can't wait to try them

I do vape zero at times thoughout the day....

Yes, I have a penstyle and love it....both atomizers died last night, so I'm back to using my 901 :(

Masu I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. I'm a dog lover too and sadly have had to do that several times. I lost my beloved Gracie who was 11 on Feb. 4th. I came home and found her passed away. Please accept my condolences. I'm glad you didn't get back on the analogs. I made that mistake many many years ago. I had quit smoking when I became pregnant. I lost the baby and on the day of the funeral I started smoking. Been doing it ever since until St Patricks Day. Horrible events sometims cause us to take up bad habits again and sometimes you don't reverse it. I'm glad you threw the analog out the window. Stay strong. :)
