Hello all, new to vaping, just started yesterday. I definitely should have gotten a lower nic level (got 18) as I'm getting buzzed on just 3 or 4 drags and some tightening in the chest and throat. I also have severe throat tightening with Nicorette lozenges/gum so I'm thinking I need to try the VG correct?

Second question is taste. I just took a big swig of my orange crystal light (I drink this stuff by the gallon) and major yuk. It tastes very strange, very sour sorta like it would taste after you just brushed your teeth. I'm smoking regular tobacco flavor (tastes slightly sweet) via a Metro Traditional. Is this common? Please tell me it will go away...I don't think I can live w/o my orange crystal light!

You don't have to "go to VG"

Buy decent PG/VG blends. You live in the US. You don't have to buy just PG or VG. There are dozens of juice vendors. I recommend 30-50% VG in atomizers depending on what you like. In stuffing cartomizers I use 20% Vg or less (30% works but I can feel it degrade the drag a bit). Tanks and reservoir cartos like 20-30% VG.

When i started vaping I was using 18mg 100% PG juice and the nicotine made my tongue feel numb and sore, similar to the burnt feeling after drinking too-hot cocoa. I switch to 30% VG 18mg juices and was fine - no sore tongue. PG lets through the most flavor, the most of nicotine's TH and the most nicotine irritation.

Even 20% VG juices will help keep the nicotine from irritating your mouth.
And get lower nicotine if you got too high.

Meanwhile, if you don't mind losing a bit of flavor - if you have PG juices, go get some pure vegetable glycerin. Michael's Crafts has Wilton brand with a cake decorating stuff. Walmart has Humco brand near the rubbing alcohol (and when asked, Humco said theirs was all vegetable - many have used it for DIY). And add a bit of glycerin to your juice. That will help smooth the irritation.

Re other funny tastes - you are inhaling vapor with food flavoring in it. Some flavorings and sweeteners leave an aftertaste. Drink plenty of fluids. Try other juices.

And I hope I misunderstand - hopefully you are not using nicorette lozenges AND vaping together? Not a great idea if you thick you eliquid has too much nicotine.

Thanks dormouse, good to know. I have ordered some juice from Liberty Flights, both PG and VG. I was confused because I couldn't see if they were mixtures of both, one being more PG the other more VG but I never found that info so I just ordered some of both and figured I can mix it if I need to.

No, certainly not :). I was just explaining that my previous experience with other forms of nic delivery has given me allergic like symptoms. I've never been able to finish a nic lozenge because of the throat closure. That can kinda freak a person out if ya know what I mean lol.

Thanks for your expertise!

Yes you can mix them. And you can use either in atomizers.

Re FreedomSmokeUSA - their sample sizes (which are not all of their flavors) are only 50/50 and 24mg (too high for me now). Their Flavor Range juices and normal tobaccos juices are available in any PG/VG you select. Their Specialty juices and Specialty tobaccos are only available in 50/50 (fine in atomizers, I won't use that thick in cartomizers). And they also sell the flavoring itself - those have no dropdown for nicotine, no PG/VG either.
