Nickel, Nichrome, Slver, Kanthal and the Penelope...

What is the difference between using either Nickel, Nichrome, Silver, Kanthal, and whatever else exists out there as the resistance/non resistance wire for the Penelope? I've been trying to stock up and whatever it is I'm going to be using, but still haven't been able to find much info as to what the differences are between these to even begin to form my own opinion...

with res wires :kanthal has a higher operating temp before failure then nichrome and many find it is easier to work with and setup, while it is pretty big on this side of the pond, many users worldwide still use nichrome pretty regularly, and will basically come down to what you prefer and find better for the results you desire.

the non res:
while it is used most people dont feel safe using a semi pure nickle wire because of the potential health problems. so they use silver as it is inert and pretty safe even if ingested. and usually when your talking about something soaking in juice safer is better.

Thanks for clarifying kind sir! I already have a bunch of kanthal for my genny, so I guess I can start there then go for nichrome if I wanna experiment some more. I'll probly go with the silver for NR, just because of the potential health benefits.
