Nickle Coil

So with the kanthal you check to see if the coil is getting hot from the inside to out. It is easy to see because the thing glows red. The nickel coil on the other hand does not glow at all. How can you tell if your nickel coil is proper before wicking?

With the nickel you don't have to worry about hot spots, you just have make sure your leads are in the middle of the grub nut and tight, then putting on your cold build on your 40 to get your ohm reading

Nickel still has issues, just not with hot spots. The softness of the wire (some hate it, I mostly like it), working with thin wire, mysterious connectivity issues, etc.

It's fantastic when you get it right, but it takes some practice
