Hello, another newbie here. Just bought this kit and tried my first few puffs and my initial impression was a good one. It actually worked straight away but I'm charging it with the USB right now although no light is on at the end of it. Firstly, I realise there is likely to be better kits out there but this one appealed to me due to it's simplicity but I will no doubt move away from Nicolites eventually. In the meantime, I was wondering if anyone could help me with a few queries.

Advice on carrying it around. Since it's only in two parts then it seems fairly straight-forward, but is it ok to carry it around my pocket, example, and should I cover the end with the rubber thing on the cartomiser when not in use? Should I always have a spare cartomiser when out and about just incase I run out of liquid? How about the charge and how well does it last on a working day (around 8-10 hours)?

Availability in the shops. There's quite a few local shops for me listed on their website and I was wondering how much these shops generally sell the cartomisers for and if there is ever availability issues? This was a big thing for me as I would hate to run short and wait for days to get more stuff on the net, especially with the holiday period coming up.

Any advice for a newbie would be appreciated.

Welcome to ECF , your starter pack is not going to do it for you , for very long . You will need two batteries , for all day use , and thats only if you don't chain vape . It's good that they worked to get you started , but you need to find a better setup , and back-ups , to use . You might try looking at Liberty Flights UK , and see whats available from them , or check out one of the local shops , but look at getting a better set-up . Probably at least an Ego type , or even a big battery type PV ( personal vaporizor ) Good luck .

Welcome to ECF and congratulations on taking your first steps in vaping.

I'm not familiar with the brand but cig-alike batteries like the model you purchased will give you around an hour of average vaping time. Unless you were a very light smoker it's likely that keeping batteries charged will be an aggravating issue.

You should be able to carry your cig-alike in your pocket without using one of the clear caps (condoms) that came on the end of your cartomizer. The fill in the cartomizer should prevent leaking. You do want to leave on the plastic cap with the small hole in the center on the cartomizer.

Depending on how much you end up vaping, having at least two or three spare cartomizers or more would be sensible. Also, you need to carry enough batteries to get you through the day. That might be a lot depending how much you vape.

Pre-filled cartomizers are convenient but expensive with choices of juices being limited. It's quite easy to fill blank cartomizers with juice yourself. There are any number of tutorials on YouTube that show you how to do this.

Unless you are a very light smoker I would strongly suggest adding a couple of cigar-sized variable voltage Twists, KGOs or Vision Spinners ASAP and get a couple of mini Viva Novas to hold your juice. The vape experience will be vastly superior to any cig-alike and you won't go nuts trying to keep batteries charged.

You basically just fill the Vivi Nova from a juice bottle, screw it on the variable voltage battery, turn the voltage down low to start and dial up to suit your taste. I got my Twists/Vivi Novas a week after starting with cig-alikes and was greatly impressed with both the vape quality and ease of use. You can keep using your cig-alikes for going out and about for short periods and for backups. I also find I like to fiddle with them in my hand from time to time.

After you have 5 posts and the server resets (once an hour) you can post on the UK forum to find the best places to purchase gear and juice. To get your 5 posts you can ask more questions here or greet other new members.

Thanks for reply & warning. I'm off work today but back tomorrow and I smoke quite a lot before, during & after my shift (about 10 hours in total). I was planning on taking my starter kit with a back-up cartridge, but by the sounds of it, that's not going to get me through. I won't be able to buy more cartridges until next Tuesday from the net, so I might have to delay this by a week and stick to the evil cigs until then. I was also planning on buying an extra battery from Nicolites website next week too, but this ego battery keeps coming up when I research e-cigs.

Thanks for info.

Thanks for reply. I'm not a light smoker, unfortunately. An hour of vaping time may not be enough for me. Is the battery still in use even I'm not vaping? On average I smoke about ten cigs from when I leave the house until I get home from work totalling around 10 hours away. It looks like my set-up is not enough for me right now & I have to learn much more about it. I do need the cig-alikes for work though and when I'm out.

I should add that with my starter pack, I also bought another pack of three cartomizers. I'm beginning to think that shops probably sell the disposable Nicolites instead of the cartomizer packs.

Thanks for info on new set-up, it's a little overwhelming, to be honest and the reason I chose the Nicolites was because of the simplicity of the set-up. It looks like I should have researched more before I purchased it though because it doesn't seem like it's fit for purpose by the sounds of it.

I started with cig-alikes because I wanted to get started vaping without having to get a post-graduate ECF degree first. I quit my 2+ pack a day cigarette habit from the first vape. Other people can struggle for quite some time in giving up the last few cigarettes with top of the line gear. Most people are able to dramatically reduce the number of cigarettes they smoke irrespective of the quality of the gear but good gear and juice give you the best chance to stay away from cigarettes long-term. However, if the Nicolites got you moving from smoking to vaping consider it a great decision and a fabulous investment.

If you absolutely must use a cig-alike rather than a cigar-sized device at work consider picking up a PCC and more batteries. That will allow you to charge several cig-alikes at the same time when you are on the go.

Also, if you work at desk with a computer or even just a power outlet look into getting a cig-alike passthrough. The cig-alike one I have doesn't have a battery so always needs to be plugged in. My Twist passthrough has a battery which can be charged while I vape.

If you are a heavy smoker I very much encourage you to go to variable voltage Twist class battery as soon as you can and use it whenever practical instead of the cig-alikes. The quality of the vape is so much better than cig-alikes and will give you more of the satisfaction you get from smoking.

Hello & welcome J1778 :)

Don't waste any more of your money on buying Nicolites, they are over priced & under perform. A good ego style kit from an excellent UK vendor, is this Riva kit (use discount code ECF10 for 10% off ) -

The VE Riva 1100 Deluxe Kit £34.95 - Deluxe Vaping Kits - Riva 1100 Kit Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid

You will also need to buy some e-liquid & the above seller does a good range of sample juices.

If you would like to check out some other good UK e-cig sellers, have a look at this list -

ALL ABOUT E-CIGARETTES UK - E-cigarette/E-liquid Vendors List + discount codes

Just to add, I believe that Nicolites have a 510 thread, so you can buy cheaper 510 cartomisers from most of the vendors in the above list. Make sure you go for SR (Standard resistance) cartomisers though. You can also refill the Nicolite cartomisers with any e-liquid.

Hi and welcome to ECF. The standard eGo fires @ 3.4 volts whereas the Riva that Chrissie linked fires @ 3.7 volts and there is a noticeable difference. In regards to battery info- 100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge. Many UK vapers have bought the Riva and are very pleased with it's performance. Here's a review of the Kgo which is the same as the Riva- same size as eGo:

As for carrying extra cartomizers simply fill a few up, put the rubber ends/ condoms on and place in a Tic Tacs container. Holds approx. 5 cartos.
The Very Best of Luck.

Hoots and welcome to ECF! :D

I also started with cig-a-likes like you, and other than them being disappointing taste-wise, they just didn't hold up long. Had to buy 2 of them so I had a spare battery which still struggled to last a day, and the cartos lasted about the same. It's in the bin now.

Can't recommend that kit Chrissie linked enough. I 'was' a heavier smoker than you, and these Riva batteries are lasting me 2 days before needing a charge, and the kit comes with 2! Although it doesn't look like a cigarette, I think that helps with the process of giving up :)

Good luck!

When I took my first puff this afternoon, I knew vaping would work with me because I have no love for cigarettes, I'm just hopelessly addicted. I never expected the nicotine fix & throat hit to be so satisfying. I've had it for 6 hours and have only smoked two real cigs since then. In that respect, the Nicolites have been great & it's actually a good product to a certain extent, but there's obviously the matter of it having a poor battery life and paying through the nose for the cartomizers. I even took it outside when I went to the shops - it was raining actually which is another thing I need to know as I wasn't sure if it was safe to smoke outside? I just regret the choice I made without signing up here first. I want to ditch the cigs right away but it looks like I'll just gradually cut down over the next week until I get my new set-up.

The thing about the cig-alike is that I work in an extremely busy place & can't be bothered answering questions every smoke break when people notice that I'm not actually smoking a real cig. I don't really like attracting attention in public, but I guess it's a price I'm willing to pay as this change will benefit my health & wealth as well as doing my bit to spread the word about vaping.

Thanks for info about battery. Newbie mistake underestimating the importance of this.

This will be getting bought next week! Considering that the Nicolites have already convinced me to ditch the cigs ASAP, this must be some bit of kit. If I buy this then I'll just need to buy e-liquid then? For someone who smokes between 20-30 cigs per day, how much would a 30ml realistically last me?

Thanks so much for this post. You may have just saved me an absolute fortune.

Sounds like a plan. So with the set-up Chrissie directed me to, I could leave the house with just one battery and a few spare cartomisers and that would be enough to get me through a day of work, for example?

I find the taste fine when I'm using it, but there does seem to be a slight aftertaste that feels kind of wrong just at the end. For some reason I can't really explain, I ordered a pack of cherry cartomisers & I don't even like cherry. Still enjoyable enough though and I think I'm going to enjoy experimenting with all the different kinds of weird flavours just for the hell of it. I also nearly lit the end of my battery with a lighter earlier like an idiot.

Haha, I think we've all been there :p

In response to your previous questions, I think the mean average of juice consumption is about 3-4ml per day. A lot of factors can raise or lower that though, such as voltage, resistance etc. Also, you should get through a day with what you mentioned, but most kits come with a little carry case for holding spares. I'd say, always carry more than you think you'll need. Last thing you want is to get caught short, and end up buying some analogs.

In terms of flavours too, most vendors will sell 5 x 5ml sample packs of various flavours for a little over a tenner, so these can be a good way of finding 'your flavours'.

Hope that helps :)

Yes a 1100mAh battery will get you through the day. The higher the mAh, the longer the battery will last between recharges. Just for comparison, your nicolite battery will be between 120 & 180 mAh.

a 30 ml will last over a week for you most likely an you can pull top cap off the lil cartomizers an put in mabe 12 drops down side or use the rubber condom put eliqud in that an put the bottom part of cart into it an sqeeze your juice in save alot money on carts an can try alot flavors at about 3 4 $ for 5 mil or 15 for 30 ml 12 mg is good for chain vaping mabe 18 or 24 for a kick of nic you can then learn to make your own nic liquds useing flavors an pg vg an nic liquds to save even more money an the bigger black batter may just look like a cigar most peeps may not notice much good luck the learningg curve is well worth it even if you can cut cig use in half or like me i have a smoke in morning switch to vapin soon u start to feel better healthyer

Yes the cartomizer holds 1 ml of juice BUT you will need to re-saturate the carto before that 1 ml of juice is vaped- cartos must always be kept fully saturated and when you notice the vape degrading it's either time to refill the carto or recharge the battery. The Clearomizers hold 1.6 ml of juice. Depending on the juice you will need to wash and dry burn the clearo every so often- when using darker colored juices more cleaning is needed....lighter juices less. Drink lottsa water as vaping is extremely dehydrating and remember the battery will come turned off. Click the button quickly 3 times to turn on or off. First time you go out maybe a good diea to bring along both batts just in case.
Best of Luck.

This just arrived today with some e-liquids that I've also ordered. Encountering some newbie issues if anyone can help. I know how to apply the liquid to the clearomiser/cartomiser (haven't actually tried it yet though) but I don't know how to actually get the liquid from the bottle  I tried unscrewing the top but it won't come all the way off. Do I ..... the top of it or cut it off?

Yeah, just ignore that post, I was being a little too careful there

Thanks for all of the advice above. I now have my starter kit and enough liquids to do me for a few weeks. Any other advice would be appreciated such as what I should be looking to buy next, when I wash certain things, etc.

Thanks again. Great forum!
