I had a hard time justifying the purchase myself. I just knew I had to get it, even if the price tag was way beyond what I would usually spend. The design just really appealed to me (airflow behind coil, small chamber, solid connections, building rods for easily aligning the coils). I don't want to over-hype it, so I'll just say that its REALLY good and wish I was rich so I could buy a couple more. :)

I've only done 3 builds in it. I've had this current nickel one since about day two.

Dual chimney 30ga ni200 @ 0.12ohms (Sig 100w only being used as a build stand :p)

Thanks for the info, Ron. What FB group is that? I've had it at 450-460, but its just a little light on the vapor. I just wish we knew more about that ceramic wicking material.

That is really awesome! Thanks for the enabling!

I do what I can. :)

And on that note... here's a video of Dino (the creator of the Marquis) doing a build on it:

EDIT: Sorry for dragging us OT. I wholeheartedly agree that Frenilla is spectacular in the low 400s. Seems flat above and below that. I seem to like Cheesecake on the low end. 380 is very nice.

isn't the rDNA40 default set for 450F?

if so, based on posts so far, is the pattern that NT seems to want lower (some cases, far lower) ... between 380 and 430.

also, would that range hold true just for RBA/RDA, or would the same apply for the new nickel-based temperature-sensing sub-ohm coils for Aspire & Kanger?

this sounds like a mission for Team Nicoticket to investigate & report their recommendations :2cool:

personally, I'm currently sitting on the fence about the VS rDNA40 (yes, there's also some shinyitis involved).

I'm ready to buy one on Monday, but secretly hoping there'll be a magical P3.0 software upgrade to get the same thing (or, if it needs chips, a P3.5 on the near horizon).

my luck, the day after I buy the VS?

ProVape will either announce the P3.5 or toss out a software upgrade to everybody that enables their secret in-built thermometer feature.

ha.

Great RDA, looks like I'll need to add one more to the arsenal. I'm also digging the ohm meter, where the hell do you find one of those?

According to the comments on Youtube for that video, the Ohm meter was a one-off build and is not for sale. I believe I made add this to my list of things to do this winter.

Thanks, I found out Mamu made it for a friend. The concept is great and I am also going to try my hand at building one with an 18650 soon. Being able to build your topper, meter your build and then pulse your coil to tighten it up all on one rig would be great.

I agree completely. And the larger size is perfect to keep things from sliding around while building. That is one of my peeves about smaller 510 ohm meters.

I don't know where that default 450° thing comes from, but the beauty of temperature protection, is not only will it help prevent dry hits, but it allows you to dial in your flavor provided of course you are wicking efficiently and providing adequate air flow.
In other words you can easily custom tailor your vaping experience and flavor production and bring out the subtle nuances of your liquids at various temps.

Yeah, he "enabled" me and I got the Marquis too. It's only been a couple of days, and I have to say that this Marquis is the bees-knees. It's the most amazing piece of gear that I own and while I'd never thought I'd own an authentic RDA, this one was worth every penny and then some. The versatility of being able to do single/dual, or lung/mouth-to-lung inhales is just awesome.

Currently running a twisted 28awg @ 1.0 ohm, and have hit a few of the stapes (Raz Cup, ACB, Sure Bert, Cheesecake, GCD) and the flavor is astounding and so smooth. Cant wait to move to Nickel, but still waiting on the VaporShark to arrive.

There are generally two major points around controlling the temperature:

1) To avoid heating the liquid to the point where potentially harmful chemicals (*.aldahyde) develop and are inhaled
2) To avoid burning the wicking material

Since the wicking material has a direct impact on the flavor, the temperatures are likely to change based on the wicking material used, and thus the temperatures that were posted earlier in this thread are good starting points for cotton. If you wick with Rayon, mesh, silica, or "ceramic wicking material", the temperatures are likely different. I have seen a number of people post (in a different forum) that they are vaping the Aspire Nickel coils for the Nautilus at around 500F as an example.

Yeah, so based on the last few posts above. I shouldn't have opened this thread again...

I've been deliberately avoiding anything DNA lately...
