Week 5 has rolled around in my young vaping career.

Maybe one of you fine folks might have some input on this.

I vape between 2-4ml a day. I dropped from 24 to 18mg within the first 3-4 weeks.
Obviously if your vaping a tasty vape you might tend too go at it a little to hard and get the normal warning signs of too much nic.

I'm having 2 symtoms that are making me question if i need to drop my nic level down to 12mg.

1 heartburn

2 headaches(nothing crazy, kinda like a not wearing your reading glasses headache)

I'm a vegevapatarian(100%VG) and the only difference might be the tobacco flavors??

I really enjoy them and are hoping you tell me i'm not drinking enough(alcohol). anywhoooo it's under control with tagament and ibuprofen for now.

fatherdano, when I get heartburn, I drop my nicotine. I've gone from 24 to 18 to 15-16 to (now) about 12 over the past 2-1/2 years....and heartburn was my strongest indicator. That's just me, but I'd try some 12-15 mg nic and see if that helps. Also, I've always heard headaches meant too much nic and/or not enough water. Are you drinking LOTS of water? (More than you'd think you needed, I mean.)

That dull headache also tells me I'm not getting my caffeine. When I first started vaping, coffee flavors were among my favorite tastes, and I noticed I was getting that dull headache and realized that I was drinking WaaaaaaY less coffee than usual. Once I got back to my coffee (and dropped the coffee flavored juices for fruit flavors, mostly) the headaches went away. Couple of things to think about.

That said, I can't BELIEVE you've been at this for 5 weeks already! Where does the time go???!!! It seems like you were at about 7 days last I tuned in! You really are the poster child for new vapers in my books! You already seem like such an "old pro"....and I don't mean that "old" in the sense of "old." :)

I've had friends talk of heartburn since hopping on the vapor trail but I've never experienced it. And one of the symptoms of "caffeine withdrawal" is headaches. I'm probably of no help because I seem to handle both PG and VG pretty well; I can vape at 24mg or 18 nicotine levels and I drink a ton of water and near one pot of coffee per day.

I am a vegan though:)

Perhaps something in the PG or VG is affecting you if you never had this problem with analog cigarettes?

The only time I have heartburn (and weird dreams/poor sleep) is if I eat tomato/salsa sort of stuff before bedtime (but that happened before I was on the vapor wagon.)

Thanks,

Norman

lol. Water?

my wife will get a kick out of me drinking water. I don't do milk very well either.

You may be onto something though as for the coffee and fluids. I'm not opposed to dropping the nic level down, i did get a few flavors i couldn't put down this weekend but i was back to normal monday morning.(a little groggy though lol)

As far as poster child status goes, i'll sign anything. I'm like a broken record for anyone that'll listen to me when it comes to the Reo and it's healing powers!!

I realize that vaping is just another delivery vehicle for the nicotine but its the only vehicle that has stopped me from smoking.

What amazes me though is all the people i thought would want to jump on and try the same thing that made me quit smokes, are hesitant and really just don't want to quit or arn't ready to quit.

Were you a smoker before? This could also indicate that you're body is still going through the change over. Headaches for me didn't start until almost 2 months after I quit. As to the heartburn..idk.. with what I eat here in Texas, I may never have noticed.. ;)

Hmm ... that comment about the heartburn really got me thinking. I am vaping more juice with the REO than I ever did with cartos and I have also been having episodes of heartburn. It never even dawned on me that it could be the nic level - I vape 18 mg. Maybe it IS time to drop it down. I thought it might be a particular juice or two but maybe not. Think when I place my next juice order, I'll throw in a couple of 12 mg or so and see if that makes any difference.

And CONGRATS on the five weeks! Way to go! Sure wish I had a REO in my hands at only five weeks in. Wise man, indeed!!

I went through heartburn for the first month or so after quitting smoking....but I don't know if it's transition related or nic level related. When the vapor left a burning peppery taste in my nose or mouth is when I knew that I needed to drop the nic level. I've dropped the nic 3 times now since I started. The headache is usually a sign you're not getting enough hydrating fluid....so not coffee, soda, or alcohol. We've actually increased our water intake by a lot and it's really helped. I used to drink a glass of water or less per day. Now I'm drinking 8-10 glasses a day and it's probably still not enough. But I'm still drinking a cup or two of coffee in the morning and the occasional glass of wine one or two nights a week.

And yes....a lot of smokers who don't want to smoke are resistant to the vaping bandwagon. Part of it is because they aren't ready yet. Part of it is they aren't convinced it will work. And the biggest part that stops them is fear of failure....especially for those who have tried quitting countless times and failed. Perhaps when you think about it...you'll start talking about it more in a way of transitioning to vaping or "changing your habit" instead of quitting smoking. We all know that quitting smoking is next to impossible....but simply changing your habit makes it easier to believe in. At least that's what worked for me when presenting this new thing to my smoker (now former smokers) friends.

Not only do I have less heartburn but my pretty serious GERD, of 30 years, has reduced to almost never since I started vaping, 2.5 yrs. I've always had to drink fluids almost constantly for kidney reflux but plain filtered water is more appealing to me now. And lighter hot teas are better. Seems I needed heavier flavored drinks to compensate for smoking. Morning coffee was needed immediatly with first cig minutes after waking. Now I can drink some water and not have to rush for first vape while enjoying first coffee but not rushed to first coffee. Some mornings I can go straight to tea and no coffee.

I have had to really increase my water intake since I started vaping. The headaches could be a sign that you are not getting enough water. I drink a ton of coffee and one thing I have been doing is make myself drink a glass of water before every coffee refill. It has helped keep me hydrated, but the downside is many more trips to the bathroom....

^^^sorta what happened with me....I used to HAVE to have my coffee and cigarettes first thing...and I'd smoke many and drink lots of coffee. When I started vaping, the coffee wasn't AS important and I noticed I was drinking much less than before. I was vaping my coffee and vaping my desserts (lost a little weight at first, too)....because it was just so good...and so fun...and so "all consuming."

I drink LOTS of water now, and still less coffee than when I was a smoker. Water is definitely your friend. That's where I'd go first, fatherdano.

When/if you drop your nic level, don't be surprised if you vape a little more at first to compensate for it....then it'll level back off.

And, yes...there are actually people who have taken this up who never smoked, or who smoked very, very little (when out drinking, maybe...bum a couple now and then.) When you think about it, it sorta makes sense. There was some reason why we started smoking (looked cool, curious, friends were all doing it, etc.) and I assume those same drives are there for young'uns these days, too. I don't think middle aged people would take it up out of the blue, but younger people are curious about it. I don't mean kids....I mean young adults who are on the fence about smoking and who are still trying things they shouldn't be trying.

Nicotine, a drug, just like caffeine, does have some positive benefits. Don't have the link handy but there is an M.D. talking about vaping on a news program. He's a Phyciatrist. He said he has to think about it, and he does.... would you rather me write you a prescription for a drug that has some usually bad side effects when nicotine and/or caffeine can give you similar results? Nicotine does have some positive effects for ADHD, bi-polar, and other conditions. One of our long time REOnauts, bi-polar, had quit smoking 18 or so years before picking up vaping. All those years she couldn't get her meds adjusted until she started back on nicotine. There are some people looking into possible benefits for Alzheimer's and Parkinsons.

Unfortunately, Yes. It's still a "vice" as they say.. People are gonna do what they want to do...

As to your next question, You stopped taking in a mess of other things that your body is use to getting. So it's not just nicotine that is going to trigger headaches and many other "symptoms" of withdrawal. One of the big things about everyone pushing water is to help keep you hydrated AND to help flush out that 2PAD residue! (I don't push water.. I normally say "fluids".. drink what you're use to, just drink more of it.. err.. not including alcohol... you don't want to trigger withdrawal from not drinking what you normally do also!!.. o_O )

I vaped 18mg for about 6 months and found I wasn't getting enough, I bumped it up to 22 - 24 - 26mg. I find around 26 is OKAY, but when I start my DIY stuff I am going to bump it to 28mg.

I vape between 4 - 6ml a day. I don't get any of the things you are describing. I don't drink large amounts of water, I drink beer most days. I vape 75/25 pg vg blends, tobacco flavoured varieties.

I'm not sure if what you are experiencing is heavily related to vaping. Maybe have a look at other areas like diet and all that stuff. I could be totally wrong though. I have no medical experience!!!

One idea I did have is maybe you are ingesting the liquid. VG is thicker and probably hangs around inside the mouth and associated channels a little longer. That would cause heartburn and probably headaches.

I'm not sure if any of the ramblings i've posted makes sense, but i'm sure if you look at each aspect of whats going on you can probably nail it down.

water it is.

i pledge to drink water, even if it kills me. lol. (can i put flavor drops in it?)

can i filter it with barley and hops?

can i water the water down with ice and uhmmmm rum?j/k:)

I use to add flavoring to water and a little stevia to allow me to drink it. I hate water! The PG in the flavorings was too much for me. Now I buy lime juice concentrate and add that and a touch of stevia. I am drinking plenty water now!

no.....
just heartburn and headache....

may have been unrelated, but i remember trying to chew or 'dip' as an alternative to smoking and had the worst heartburn imaginable.

Heart racing, hands shaking, shallow breathing,

wondering, "Dear God, am I about to die?"

That happens to everyone here, right?

Right?

Even though I've been using 6mg juice for several months now, I get those symptoms about once every two weeks. Usually while chain vaping in the car on my half hour commute.
