Is it possible that now that they are using tobacco leaves as a source of Nic, a new chemical is being used to separate the excess oils? Apparently they did not have this excess oil problem when tobacco "dust" was being used. Just speculating, but perhaps if there are any chemists here, they could shed some light on how oils are separated.
Alchem claims it's the only FDA inspected lab. Now I'm starting to understand. Looks like we're getting our "tobacco Product" after all.

Really interested…did they tell you this because you called them up or is the info posted elsewhere?

Seems like Alchem or alchem style nicotine is spreading all over, which was my concern to begin with

MFS got in touch with me last week and said there was yet another Liter of a new batch coming my way, which was different and not gotten any complaints yet. It was supposed to be here in 2-3 days starting last Tuesday. We'll see.

----ECX----

Just tried a nic base of 18mg 80vg/20pg (premixed)

Crystal clear
smells and tastes like plastic/chemically/tires???

They say its a new nic distributor that is more organic and healthier to vape..... ehhhh rather have the the older less healthier stuff

email response-

"We apologize for the inconvenience. We recently changed the distributor of our nicotine, and we have now started to get nicotine that is more organic and healthier for vaping. Unfortunately, it does have a more pungent smell and taste to it, so we recommend adding more flavor concentrate than usual. "

Thanks for the reply buddy…that certainly sounds like it could be code for nicselect. Though 'more organic' is certainly an odd phrase lol. "More whole leaf?"

It seems to me that part of the benefit of vaping over smoking was less organics, or at least less of the chemicals associated with smoking? Am I missing something now? It seems that the clearer nic that had less or no smell would also carry fewer of the harmful chemicals associate with tobacco....

Full disclosure on my part concerning the RTS nicotine I sent Cyrus..

I have ordered rts nic quite a few times over the last 3 years or so,and I started with them when I started DIY.Always excellent scent and clear/pale yellow. Forward to October 2013..

I ordered some litres of 100 mg./ml. I read where He had cut his prices across the board on his nic and I thought, that is a great deal..So I order..

Received as always in great condition, bagged, wrapped, and sealed. I am stoked,( not a word I use often) and when I opened it and took a whiff, honestly it just about knocked my socks off.It was the worst nic I had ever smelled up to that point, and still is to this day..

Rubbery, chemical, for lack of a better word,it was abhorrent. I poured it into a clear glass,it was CRYSTAL clear.and I mean like water. RTS nic had always had a slight tint to me,yet always had a great taste.. This did not.

I called RTS,They said they had recently changed vendors and they did refund my money in the form of a store credit which I did use..The lady on the other end was very kind and quick in fixing the credit.

I sent 2 litres of UN-OPENED nic to cyrus for his evaluation, and while I do not know him that well personally,I have seen his posts on this forum and he seems to really know what he is talking about,so I wanted his take on it,and to make sure that I was actually smelling what I thought I was.

I hope RTS can get back on track with some great quality nic..

Anyway, I just wanted to express a FULL DISCLOSURE of how and why Cyrus received the nic he did.

And again sorry I'm being slow, I opened both bottles and the smell told me everything I needed to know in a sense. I promise I will the nicotine down and do a proper evaluation, for my standards anyway, shortly. Its been a busy week..and will be a busy two months :unsure:I have 2012, Oct 2013 and Dec 2013 MFS right here as a bench mark as well.

Same here. ...I was wondering if anyone else got ahold of this also.

Seems to vape just fine. I don't taste that motor oil smell in the resulting mix, but I can definitely still smell it.

How about you?

EDIT: I also received the same response you did when I emailed ECX. Their support was quick, I'll say that.

Sure it vapes fine. And, yes ECX customers service is top notch.

But, I cannot get past the smell and taste of this organic nicotine. And, I really dont think adding MORE flavoring
to get past this plastic/rubber smell/taste is the answer.

I am not the most precise DIY mix master in the world, and I just add drops straight from the flavor bottle into the nic base. With the old base 3 drops per mil was Just right for me after a week steep. Smelled like Hangsens USA flavor, and tasted like Hangsens USA flavor.
NOT THE CASE with the new base. Now it smells like plastic with a hint of USA flavor, and tastes like plastic with a hint of USA flavor.

....Not right in my book....

I agree. They told me to increase the amount of flavoring to 20%. Kind of ...... considering some of my RY4 blends I use only 5, but I made the blend anyway to my specifications. It has a hint of that strange smell when you sniff it, but it seems to vape OK for me - I can't taste it at all. I use 100% VG (with the exception of the flavorings) though, that might be lending to our different experiences. Maybe that and I'm using an iClear which has it's own flavor-muting properties :)

Interesting that you detect in the RTS nic the same tastes/smells that others are experiencing with the Alchem/Nicselect type nic.

Since they told you they had recently changed vendors, I wonder if they are now supplying the same Alchem/Nicselect type nic that is cropping up everywhere.

Looking at the RTS site they now say their nic is "USA Sourced Liquid Nicotine". Looking at snapshots of older pages from their site on the Wayback Machine they used to state their nic was USA extracted.

I can not get my tobacco flavors to taste right either. (I happen to use hangsen as well)

Organic... That's absolutely laughable! If it were organic it would easily cost twice as much.

I wonder if big tobacco is responsible for this crappy nic in some way.

I've about had it with the dec mfs nic. The th is so weak.

Jeremy this Alchem is very weak. I tasted a drop of 100 mg, and didn't get any burn.

Is that good or bad? Weak, as in none of the rubber/plastic notes or weak as in "don't buy this" weak?
As in bad Stoney. It tastes terrible, and it doesn't even remind me of nicotine. I use Snus occasionally. Bro, I get more tingle from 8 mg General snus than Alchem 100 mg weirdness.
