Monsanto takes organic corn, alters this to resist disease or drought. They then file a patent on this as this corn as well as all corn grown from this is their property. Now if the FDA says that nicotine is still tobacco because it came from tobacco, and is legally still tobacco, that corn seed which has been altered can now be said to still be corn seed if harvested from the plant the farmer grew after purchasing the parent seed. From my understanding this kind of "property rights" also reaches into the medical/bio/pharmaceutical industry as it pertains to human genes.

Monsanto is a truly evil corporation that wants to patent life and own the rights to it. They produce terminator seed, which is single use, and the farmer has to buy new seed every planting, giving Monsanto control of food. They also patented a pig gene, then went after a farmer in France suing him because they said his pigs had their patented gene. Just try and prove they dont! They are able to do this since the Uruguay round of GAT was passed, which allows corporations to patent life forms. A very dangerous and frightening development that could easily lead to global enslavement to transnational corporations controlling all food and implementing a global digital currency and imposing global fascism.

Greed will be humanity's undoing. 's ok with me, cuz humanity is rapidly moving away from being human. The planet will recover. Evolution will take it's course and hopefully, the next lifeform developing smarts will realize that with being on top of the food chain comes not only might, but also responsibility...

Won't solve the more-down-to-earth problems. Maybe we can get one of these decomissioned smelting plants in Detroit for little money.
Got about the right size to extract nic from tomatoes ;)

And thus we have defacto fascism in America, though most don't recognize it as such, because it's a kind of soft fascism that features, instead of labor camps, hotels, and also because they still think The Government is running the country when it's really just a front for the corporations and banks who, under color of government, can get any law they want passed.

Aren't you mixing up fascism and corruption?

Please, stop blaming Monsano. They are feeding world. Without them there were much more hungry children in third world countries. And, by the way, they’ve never sold anything with “terminator” gene. As for suing – do you know how much they spent on research? You think they have to give it for free? Do you prefer communism?

that's the whole idea, and not to mention it's been so genetically altered, that it's making people sick (gluten allergies, and it's illegal per federal law to sue Monsanto for damages, etc) My daughter who works for a major healthy foods chain, does a weekly rant on Monsanto for me..it's kind of scary.

I think as vaping is putting a bigger dent in big Pharm (all of the Nicorette products are OUT on the shelves now at our grocery store AND marked down) and Big Tobacco's earnings we're going to see more Federal nosing about vaping in an effort to price it out use OR just ban it all together. Follow the $.

I read somewhere it takes 20lbs of eggplant to make the nicotine in one cigarette? I'm not going out and investing in an eggplant farm let's put it that way!:p

Feeding the world eh? You have no idea, do you? Pretty sad is all I can say.... you need to wake up and get a clue. Never sold any terminator seed? That's a flat-out lie, and I'm betting you know it too.

You are right, the GMO crops are very unhealthy for anyone or anything that eats them. Rats fed GMO corn develop giant tumors in their gut, cattle die from it, and for more of Monsanto's benevolence look into Monsanto BT cotton in India. There's a good reason GMO crops are banned in some countries.

The Fed and local government is in a real big bind right now ... And that problem is money!

The Fed originally used the excuse that they were increasing the tax on cigarettes to crazy levels in order to stop people from smoking.

Well, it worked real well ... but now the problem for the government is since so many people have stopped smoking, all this tax money they were getting before has dried up. Basically, the whole tobacco tax deal backfired on them.

Both the local and Fed government became very dependent on these sin-tax dollars, but that cash-cow has gone dry, so they are frantically trying to find other ways to stuff there pockets again.

And guess what .... They figured out that they can re-capture many of those lost cigarette tax dollars by going after e-cigarettes. To the government, this is the cash-cow they have been looking for as a big supplement to the ever decreasing cigarette tax dollar!

Yup .... they are a crafty bunch!

What precisely can they tax apart from e-liquid?

That will never make up the amount of money lost from cigarette sales. Perhaps i'm missing the irony that as some states legalise other things to make a fast buck, vapers face a hysterical crackdown on something widely regarded as about 1000 times safer than an existing legal product.

Bizarre.
