my nicotine has been in its original 5 litre bottle since it was delivered 9 months ago!!!
I know It needs to go with the rest in glass but how long is it safe for?

The plastic is; PE-HD. It has the number 02 inside the little recycle triangle.
There is also the number 26 on the underside of the bottle.

I don't want all this to be wasted.

Is it likely for this bottle of nic to be OK?

Opinions (hopefully backed by science ;)) would be appreciated.

I don't have any scientifc backing for my opinion regarding how long before rebottling it in glass, but...I do know that if you've had it in HDPE...at least that's the best plastic it could have been in for that long. However, I'd be transferring it into glass bottles ASAP if I were you.

How has it be stored? Refrigerator, freezer, cool dark closet/cupboard? I doubt a sealed HDPE bottle with minimal headspace has had much (if any) degradation yet even if only stored at room temp. But I would be wanting to get that transferred into glass sooner rather than later.

If you use the search box in the upper right and searche for "nicotine, HDPE" you will see there has been quite a bit of discussion on this. :D

Warmer storage temps (above 20C(?)) can accelerate oxidation. If you can't afford glass right now I would find the coolest place you can safely store it and get it there. Also, if it was my 5 liters, I would forgo any further hardware purchases and make glass my priority... but that is just me. Just remember that controlling light, heat, and air exposure, will help your nic to last as long as possible. (cooler+darker+less air=better nic)

I have just bought 2 sian mod drip tips which cost me £30!
Everything is expensive here.
My next purchase will be amber glass bottles. Maybe a mod as well if i can scrape together the :2c:...

It looks like you should be able to get all 5 bottles for less than what you spent on the drip tips. I just did a quick google search for "UK bottles" and found these two within the first half dozen listings:
1000ml amber glass winchester bottle

1 Litre Winchester Amber Lotion Bottle

Please note that I have not searched for lowest price or best shipping deals nor did I look at global shippers like Amazon. I was only curious what cost was like compared to glass hear in the US. It seems fairly comparable.

Thanks but ill get the 100ml bottles and caps. Better for storage. Think it works out about 50p per bottle.

These tips look real good though.
Admittedly for about £14 each they should be like tooting through gold. ;)

Sound like you got it well under control.:D I agree about smaller bottles... saves opening, and reopening a larger bottle and leaving excessive headspace.
Best wishes and cheers! :toast:

To make you feel hopefully alittle better about how it probably has done in 9 months...every nic vendor I've bought it from...has shipped theirs in HDPE bottles. Also, the medical field, scientific laboratory field, and higher education institutions chem labs all use HDPE for containing/storing sensitive liquids and compounds. Like I said, if it wasn't in HDPE all those months, but in a lower grade plastic container, I'd be more concerned.
