Yes, sometimes, but usually not that striking a difference. It's probably the nic base that is turning a little yellow. It's not harmful. Nic liquid and bought juices will last at least a year before you notice a change in the flavor. It will not be harmful, but what usually happens when a juice ages is that the flavor gets muted.

If you buy bulk nic liquid, separate it into smaller bottles and freeze the rest. It will last many years that way and will not discolor.

Keep your made or bought juices in a dark, cool place. Refrigeration is not usually recommended unless that's your only option.

In my case I dont think it has to do with the base. I assume its the flavorings.
I have a few that are fairly clear and others that turned a honey looking color.
All mixed out of the same base, to the same MG's on the same evening.
I do have a tobacco mix that I know darkens up. I put a few drops of Apple cider vinegar in it and it seemed make a world of difference in slowing the darkening down. Time will tell.......... Also made the flavor better. Found a thread on it here some where. They also mentioned lemon juice but havnt tried that yet..

I have not tried the AC vinegar or lemon juice since most of my flavors are light fruit juices. I tend to buy only clear or slightly colored flavorings. Lightly colored or clear juices are generally much better for the longevity of your cartos. Dark colors and sediment in eliquid will quickly kill a carto.

TPA will generally tell you if one of their flavorings is dark and sometimes offer the same flavor in a clear mix.

Interesting. Thank you. I'm still reading the thread and checking out the links. I might try it, but think I would be inclined to only add it in small bottles right before vaping it as it says it intensifies upon sitting. It was also interesting to find out that some vendors who reputedly use it are among some of the most highly regarded juice vendors.

Back to reading the thread.

Very Cool Thread,
Power steeping sounds like a cool trick, but I don't guess I am experienced enough to know the difference, steeped or fresh.
But I am learning!
Q: So get the stash out of the fridge?
-move to a closet?
I do know I traded for a bottle of Raff-i-licious a few weeks back, and I just could not get into it. On 3rd attempt, as of two days ago, I can't get enough! Acquired taste?

A dark cool closet.......LOL.......I think the problem with refrigeration is condensation. Lots of people do refrigerate eliquids. I guess it would depend on how quickly you are using it.

I freeze my bulk nic liquid, but store my flavors and made nic juices in a cabinet that is just used for vaping supplies and juices.

I don't really have the personality to get all hyper about things, so I'm probably not the one to listen to if you are more particular or fussy about the things you do. There's that devil may attitude again........LOL

The experts in the DIY forum would be better to listen to than me, and their threads are very interesting and informative.

As to steeping. I think it depends on the recipe... and you don't know it (the recipe). You may know some ingredients, but there's almost always a catch-all of "artificial flavors" and/or "May contain alcohol".

Cap off would theoretically allow volatiles to escape. However, what I hear most is to leave the cap off for a day or two, then cap it and let it steep. For my DIY stuff, I don't use alcohol anyway.... so unless it's in a flavoring it doesn't matter.

I steep with cap on, in a safe dark place if the bottle is not dark.... if I bother to steep at all. Usually just a frequent shake is enough for my niquid.... but there are definately some pre-mixes I've tried that were nearly unvapable at 1st and took 2 weeks to steep.

Notes:
Sunlight is supposed to be a destroyer of nicotine.
A warm water bath and shake will supposedly hasten the process.

2 cents
