Hi all. Finally got my mom to try out ecigs. She's been a smoker (2 1/2 packs a day of any cheap ultra light 100's) for 50 years, so we thought the higher nicotine level would be needed...I'm fairly new to ecigs as well. Well, she got her Vapor King in yesterday and a bunch of 36mg Cowboy cartomizers and she says she has had a huge headache ever since her first puff. I guess we may have gone a bit high on the nicotine level. I'm afraid of going too low because I know she'll just go back to analogs if she isn't getting her nicotine. Based on her analog intake, any suggestions on that sweet spot as far as nicotine strength is concerned? Thanks in advance.

I used to smoke about a pack and a half a day of light cigarettes and 18 mg. was good for me in the beginning (early March), but I started getting headaches within a few weeks and reduced the nicotine.

My husband started vaping at the end of March. He was like your mom for years (two to two and a half packs of ultra lights). However, he quit a few years ago and then started smoking cigars (no better!). He's been vaping 18 mg. and this works well for him.

Thank you all for the suggestions. V4L threw in a couple of 18 mg samples, so she's going to try them. I'm also giving her my old Fifty-One Duo (to get her through the shipping wait time) and some 8 mg carts...got myself a manual VK in the order so goodbye 51! I think we'll probably get her a mixture of 11 mg and 18 mg. Or maybe it's best to just go with the 11 mg's and if she has to vape more to feel satisfied, so be it. I just really hope she takes to vaping like I did and finally quits the analogs.

I think we're gonna go with some 555 and Cowboy (both in 11 mg coolcarts). Guess I'll just have to vape all of her 36 mg's. I'm more of an 18-24 mg guy, but I think I can handle the 36 mg "buzz" long enough to drain them and refill them with some of my recent acquisitions from Alien Visions. Only problem is she got a bunch of 36 mg's in menthol flavors. I can't stand menthol though. Is there a way to "drain" them without having to vape them? I like the idea of having 10 extra "blanks" for my juice, but can't stand the thought of having to vape away all that menthol flavor.

you can drain them with a reverse taryn spin, but the menthol taste wont completely go away unless you wash them.

I'd like more info on the cleaning/boiling thing... anyone have an explanation or video bookmarked?

i dont know where the links on here are, but im sure youtube has some vids that explain it. personally i just use a turkey baster with boiling hot water. blow them out, then let dry for a week before i use them.

I vape on 36mg. But by no means am I a chain vaper. Few puffs for me about every 1/2 hour.

I think the amount of nic depends on how you vape. If you are a chain vaper, then I would suggest 18mg or lower.

Like K_K pointed out. Most of the expense of vaping is from trying to find your sweet spot. i.e. the right amount of nic and flavor.

Good luck!

I had a headache and was sick to my stomach with another brand, but was ok with the V4L 24mg cartos. Perhaps she should try something else..ie: another nic level....I smoked a PAD of Camel Lights 100's, and the V4L 24mg cartos satisfy me. Its a hit or miss when starting. Do not be discouraged..keep trying till you find something that works...If the headaches persist I would contact my md...but this may be from going down from the level of nic she was getting with her analogs...

She may also be having an reaction to PG...she could also try VG...just a thought..
