Hey guys and gals I'm trying to clean out a couple of my clearomizer and the coils but I have no everclear or anything that pure. Can I use Bacardi clear or will the sugar in their ruin something? I also have some hydrogen peroxide lol maybe that will work. I cant get this strong ... rootbeer taste to go away even after cleaning and burning off multiple times. thx

Unfortunately, some flavors are Very Difficult to remove from an Clearo.

Sometimes it is Easier to Put a Stronger Flavor in the Clearo and to Live with it. That or just Chuck the Clearo in the Trash and Move On.

BTW - Have you Tried White Vinegar?

I would steer clear of Bacardi because of the sugar. But you could use another high proof alcohol. Vodka? I've also just used rubbing alcohol, just be sure to give it a good wash after so there aren't any taste remnants.

The Small amount of Sugar in Rum isn't a Big Deal even if a person Isn't very thorough when Flush Out a Cleearo/Atty after Soaking.

Cheap vodka is also an option. I'd be leery of the rum, since it's maybe going to add its own flavor.

You might also consider re-wicking the coil, since the rest of the head is metal (stainless or chromed brass, and kanthal). Other than the gaskets and seals, the wick is the only other part that might retain the old flavor.

You don't say what type of clearo, but in general, if you can snip off the wick on one side of the coil and gently tease it out the other side, you can get the old wick out without distorting the coil itself. Then replace with cotton from cotton balls, or similar source.

Can't speak to sugars in the Bacardi with respect to cleaning coils. Just drink it.
The Iso is fine for cleaning. Get the purest, ie. least water, and let soak. Be sure to rinse thoroughly in hot water after the soak and air dry.

I don't drink the Bacardi clear, my wife bought the wrong kind a few years ago as I like the dark lol, its been sitting here looking for something to do the whole time, and I thought hey maybe I can use this stuff after all. BTW as a side note never mix Bacardi clear with grape Gatorade. I did that 20 years ago and thats why I cant drink clear Rums anymore )
