Greetings

I am new to vaping and I am enjoying it very much (been off cigarettes since I got my PV about 2 weeks ago). However I would like to seek the advice of experienced vapers regarding an issue I am having.

I am using a 510 mega starter kit with VG e-liquids (from Canvape and Jugheads respectively, both excellent service). Being a newbie and not having fleshed out a maintenance regimen, I have burnt out both atomizers that came with my kit in 2 weeks:(. So while I am waiting for new attys to arrive in the mail, I am using some SR Boge cartomizers that I purchased with my kit. These cartos are producing vapor, but the vapor has no flavor and just tastes like steam. Would anyone happen to have some insight on this and give me some advice? I am also wondering if these cartos just don't work well with 510 battery.

Thank you

Hi Kites and welcome to ECF. It sounds like you're vaping 100% VG juice. PG enhances/ brings out the flavor. I would also recommend using 2.5 cartos. Also are you shaking the juice well before you top off the carto? If it is 100% VG you may even want to place the bottle in hot water to "thin" the juice out before topping off carto.
Cheers.

Ah I see.

According to the supplier's website the cartos are 2.7ohms, but nevertheless still above 2.5ohms as B4DJ1N64N suggested.

So if I understand this correctly, the quantity and flavor of the vapor increases as power increase? Therefore this means that these cartos are better suited for a higher voltage battery?

Thanks again for your help

Hi Vapoor eyes er, I am indeed using 100%VG at the moment and I have tried the hot water method that you suggested but it didn't seem to fix the issue.

I decided to start with the 510 because it resembles a cigarette and thus wouldn't draw too much attention at the office, but now it seems like I am always having to recharge. I am now looking at getting another battery for use around the house that would last long on a charge and also give good vapor with cartos. I guess my next step is probably an eGo?

Thanks

Hi Kites. When I first started I ordered all my juice from Jugz and was elated with the quality. Have also ordered some stuff from Canvape- both great vendors. I now DIY all my juices. If you looking for a quality PV at a reasonable price ($45.00) I would recommend:
Kgo- very popular with 1100 mah batt
Riva- also very popular
EPower- very popular because cheaper generic batts can be used but it is a little more expensive
because they are all true 3.7 volt PVs. A new world opens up when you're vaping at this voltage. Many of my friends use the Kgo and are very happy with it.
Cheers.

Edit: 100 mah= 1 hour normal vaping before needing recharge.

Well, if you think you're going to like vaping, I'd go directly to the VV mod and save yourself some money, but if you're still not sure this is a long term....romance? lol! than go with the eGo. I started with Blu, went to eGo, and quickly went to the Provari, which is top of the line VV. I would probably still be using the eGo if not for safety issues around the eGo. (They have been know to explode while on the charger) Something else you might want to look into is what's called a passthrough. If you spend alot of time sitting at a computer or something.

You're welcome. Unless you really feel you need a much stronger vape VV aren't practical. I've also noticed ( predicted this 2? months ago) VV are dropping in price with many new models coming out. I would suggest get 5 posts wait 1 hr and post in the Cdn forums asking if anyone would like to get together to allow you to try their PV. I've got a VV Provari and it just sits there while my 3.7 gets a daily workout. Simply put 3.7 volts opens up a whole new world of vaping and when you add the longevity of the batt ( 2400 mah) and a tank it doesn't get any easier than this.
Lottsa vapers and vendors in BC. Unfortunately there isn't the selection of hardware here.

Thanks for the suggestions Vapoor, took a look at those and they seem great. I was also thinking of getting the KSD eGo "VV" from Canvape, however if I go that route I am considering jumping up to a true VV like a lavatube. I dont know if skipping steps like that is a good idea for a newbie like me though...

I am using a 510 mega starter kit [...] I am using some SR Boge cartomizers

Yeah, like the others said, that won't be your best combination. I run anywhere from 4.5 to 4.9 volts with that exact cartomizer, and I'm on the wimpy side of the street. I know people who crank it all the way up to 6.0 volts with those.

Vapor and flavor is about power. More power=more vapor/flavor. To find power there's a formula that uses the ohm resistance of the carto and the volts of the PV. As the second poster wrote, your battery and carto combination is giving you 3-4 watts. My settings give me 6.75 to 8 watts. The extreme people go about to 12 watts. To get more power you can lower the resistance of the carto, or you can raise the volts going into it. If you have a variable voltage unit, that is. With a single setting like the 510, your only choice is to go with a lower (smaller number, like 2.5 or 2.0) carto. 2.5 ohm at 3.7 volts gives you about 5.5 watts - nearly twice what you're getting now.

Since I am on a tight budget, I found myself a cheap 5 volt pass through that runs off my computer usb port. I'm at the computer a LOT, so this has been working well for me. I'm saving a ton of money now that I'm hardly smoking at all, so I will eventually save up for a nice unit as I know I love to vape! In the mean time, my ciggy money has been going towards juices... It has already been mentioned, but skipping steps will save you a lot of money in the long run, as long as you are sure that you love vaping!

Good Luck and welcome to the forums!
