Ok...so i've been vaping about 3 months now. Using an 808 starter kit with their "LR" carts. From a popular vendor and everything was great using their prefilled carts...I was in love. I recently ordered 100% VG liquid and blank 2.2 ohm carts, I was so excited to try all the new flavors. I ordered 12 samples from a vendor that everyone RAVES about. Watched tons of videos on filling carts....

Let the liquid steep...filled the carts with 1ml exactly as directed. Let the carts sit a few days. Put it on a freshly charged 4.2v...and it had no flavor. Check that...it does have flavor...it's like...warm corn oil...not burnt...but not tasty either. Just...warm blandness. Tried another flavor...same taste....same with all of them.

So then I switched to my 3.7v...my 5v passthru...same thing. Filled up some higher res carts...still the same at all volt levels...all flavors just taste...blech.

Bright idea...tried the ONE 50/50 PG/VG tobacco flavor mix I ordered...beautiful flavor for about 10 draws...then burnt.

SO. I just ordered a couple 3.7v batts and don't want to rush out and buy new ones again. But I am looking into CE2 Clearos. Does anyone know if I up the res to like 2.8 will it help with flavor...or is it just that i'm not a VG fan...or am I doing something terribly terribly wrong?

I'm not sure if the problem is equipment, but most new vapers and even long time vapers will go through dead tastebud syndrome. In the past almost 3 years, it's hit me 3 or 4 times when everything tastes wretched or doesn't taste at all.

At first I thought it was an equipment issue, but it kept happening on all my devices. When it happens now, I either use a really strong flavor like a cinnamon or menthol or I vape unflavored that I DIY until my taste buds recover.

Drinking a lot of water also helps.

If it is equipment related, I'm sure someone here will be able to point you in the right direction. I've used CE2's for a long time and got really good performance with them once I modded them a bit. But even with them, I still get periods of no taste.

I've recently switched to using the Ego Vision Stardusts and I find the flavor to be really good on them. They are much less hassle than the CE2's as well. No tweaking required and super simple to fill. They come in either SR or LR..the LR work very well on regular ego style batteries and the SR work better at around 4 - 4.2v.

Hope that helps.

Edited to add: VG will mute flavor somewhat but produces better vapor. I tend to stick with about a 70pg/30vg blend in my liquids. The Stardusts I mentioned are a 510 thread and wouldn't work on 808s without an adaptor. I haven't tried the CE2's for the 808s.

Welcome to the forum.

It's been my experience that very high VG tends to mute flavor. I've also found that CE2's do as well, particularly SR clearo's.
Everyone has to find their own particular sweet spot and that's very individual.

Agreed. VG tends to lower flavor in large quantities. I find that if I don't have a lot of flavoring in there, it doesn't seem to really show up in the flavor profile. I typically use a PG liquid with just a tiny bit of VG for vapor production.

Thanks for the input everyone. I think it must be the VG. I've gone back to the old pre-filled and they taste fine...which is a little sad but i'll get over it.

Still gonna work on trying some new things...maybe a 70/30 as you suggested...still wanna try clearos. I'm not allergic or sensitive to the PG...and I don't care much about vapor as long as there is some. (I prefer to be very stealthy ;) ) I was just all excited about all the "natural" flavors and didn't want to believe they just simply have less taste to them.

Up on the shelf they go...and as I progress to newer and different equipment...i'll go back and keep trying.

Thanks again all :)

Yes, BUT: my experience with 100% VG AVE juices is that they have TONS of flavor. I vape some 70 PG /30 VG, 50/50 and 100 VG. The more PG, the more throat hit, and some flavors seem stronger with PG, but I never though VG alone could lead to no flavor at all. So could this be a bad batch or something?

You also mention "carts" and burning taste. Are you using a 3-piece setup or catomizers? I know VG can prove difficult in any setup, but I particularly find it odious in CE2s while cartos behave well if they are properly filled. In an atty-cart setup I can see how there may be a problem for the cart to "feed" the atty fast enough with a VG only juice.

I would try a couple of things - first I'd direct drip one of the liquids in question: if there still is no flavor, then I'd probably shoot an e-mail to the vendor. Bad batches happen, not often, but I had that issue once with one juice and they sent me a replacement that was fine.

Going up on the resistance will likely diminish the vapor production, throat hit and flavor, although some juices - especially soft, fruiity ones, or as far as my limited experience goes, caramelly ones as well - may have a better flavor when vaped cooler.

i vape a 100% vg menthol and at first i use to have these problem (even with 100% vg unflavored) and it was very use to solve , remember to shake these bottle damm well :) i think vg liquid separate fast and that migh be the problem with the taste and getting that kind of veggi/herbal taste , even the smell change after you shake it. well try it and let us know ! good 1 minute shake before filling the carto also you can use your pre-filled again so dont toss then out

I've tried doing some Diy w high VG and the flavour didn't come through immediately.. Almost puked after tasting e flavorless juice.. Left e juice out for a day, no diff... But after 3 days, it started to taste ok... Been 5 days and at last, e VG juice has started to smell nice... Tons of vapor with flavor... Added 10% more flavor again today!
