Picture, the silica tube from a carto on to a 2mm SS wick and mounted coil:-



Technically, this also removes the need to oxidise the wick as well. The only reason to oxidise it was to make in non-conductive, but the silica tube now takes care of that issue.

(But you might want to still burn off any manufacturing residues).

Of course, the purists might argue that it's no longer a Genesis ?

No change in flavour that I have noticed and the slight addtional wicking capacity provided by the silica tube helps prevent dry hits, too.

One of the reasons I resorted to pulling cartos apart was not being able to find the stuff anywhere else. So if someone does find any, please let us know.

Whatever works for you. I prefer the Blugrasslover method. I know of a few that use silica fibers in place of cotton.

This sounds like a great idea.

I have been using the cigarette paper trick and I think that also hold juice helping the wicking just as this would.

I dont see the need to oxidize the wick as long as coil does not touch any metal

i still do it ,just so it keeps it shape when i remove from the tank

FYI - there are similar posts. Some use cotton as an insulator. Others silica.

I'm trying to avoid burnt cotton and silica fragments. So I use the bare mesh. lol.

That's what's cool about vaping.

I'm not a "purist" but sure you're really missed what is genesis for. You can do that without mesh , so you have same results. Try oxidizing the mesh wick with more patience and you'll get all the genesis offer .
