Hey all,

So I've been vaping for about ~1month now and it's relatively great. The only problem I have is that with my eGo 3.7V device I really see no difference in taste between liquids. I have about a dozen flavors (tobacco flavors), and other than the mentholated ones (and on AVE butterscotch), I'm not seeing ANY difference in flavor. So basically I'm asking 2 questions:

1) Is 3.7V too low to differentiate flavors?

2) Is it just me?

I just ordered a 5V passthrough from Liberty Flights (Garry Dibley PT) so I'll let you know if I see a difference. But in the mean time I would like to know what your thoughts are.

Here is my setup:
Device: Totally Wicked Tornado (eGo)
Atomizer: LiquidXress.com 2.5 Ohm cartomizers
juice: Both PG and VG tobacco flavors (a couple menthol as well)

TL;DR -> Get no taste...is this normal?

First the warning: I'm no expert. Others on the forum may well correct info. I provide (which would be welcome!)

But here's a guess: Maybe your ego is too powerful for the carto/atty you are using. If I understand correctly, the heat (watts) produced by the atty is determined by the combination of pt voltage and atty resistance (ohms). If you are producing too high a wattage, you might be burning juice instead of vaporizing it. This could produce a more uniform (and less desirable) taste.

Just a guess.

The set up you have is fine, until your mouth and body completely recover from smoking odd things like this are going to happen. Just hang on it'll get better in time.

I actually never really got into smoking cigarettes. I was more of a dip tobacco (Skoal) guy. Don't know if this matters, but I'm sure you have a point. I'm never going back to tobacco so I hope you're right.

Yeah, tobacco tends to wreck your taste buds. Pizza taste like chicken... chicken taste like...nevermind. That was exaggerated, but Druid has a point. Just give it some time and see if things change, if not, try a new set up. I really don't have much experience with carts just yet, but you could try doing a routine cleaning of your ecig and see if that helps.

Agreed with everyone else.
After strictly vaping for awhile and not using other tobacco products, your tastebuds go through a "reset phase." Very few flavors will come through at that time. Menthol and Cinnamon are the two most common to use through this time. I went over a month with no taste until my buds kicked back in again. For some it only lasts a week or two.

You might find that when your taste does come back that some of the juices you thought were great might not be so great afterwards. Then it's a matter of finding a new batch of juices to sedate your new tastes.

Yeah its definitely your taste buds. I had the same thing happen I actually just got over it. I also was using an Ego and alot of similar juices. Alot of people experience this around one month in. It can last anywhere from 24 hours to a month. Unfortunately for me it was about 3 weeks...it was a real bummer. I tried every suggestion and trick in the book but nothing worked. I just had to wait.

I didn't believe it at first either, but in the beginning of week 2 for me, everything I had that used to taste good suddenly tasted like crap. It was a good 5-7 days of pushing through and things went back to normal, and then my REAL sense of taste started coming back. Those flavors taste fantastic now. Drank lots of water too - that was something new for me, but I needed to do it anyway. The water will help to keep cleaning out your tastebuds. Stick with it - its worth it! BTW, your setup looks just fine.

I still have a cig with coffee and after a meal even after a year and a half vaping. I find that the more I smoke, the less taste vaping offers. I know when I 've smoked too much. Then there's the olfactory aspect where sometimes you lose your sense of smell.

All that seems to compound the issue of just how much you can taste when vaping. If it's allergies, Nasonex or Flonase helps.
