E bay verification. And ECF supplier verification.
Seemed an easier way and no personal banking info involved...

Yes, those are great suggestions, Pam.

CES, my guess is that PayPal probably figures if they don't "verify" with CC info alone, most people who would want to avoid giving their bank info in order to be verified might open up a PayPal bank account. They've got to get something out of that - interest, while your money is sitting there?. I'm not sure how that works but they wouldn't do it if there wasn't something in it for them. I just can't imagine they're doing it out of the goodness of their hearts!

Paypal doesn't have the money market account any more - I used to have one - they dissolved it last year. Now you just have a paypal balance that can sit there just like "points", or "credits" at any vendor. Just having a paypal balance wouldn't be enough incentive for them to verify members, would it? I don't even know if you can still get a paypal debit card to get your $ out of a reg. atm machine - I think you either have to spend it online, or have it transferred to your bank account - I guess that's what they mean by verified? They have actually sent $ to an acct so they know what country the person is in ? Don't know - I have had a big Zero over there for so long I'm as surprised as anyone that I'm still "verified". Nice, though!
