There's a yarn shop about a mile from home and the lady gives knitting lessons 2 days a week. When I started a couple of years ago I wasn't even sure how to hold the needles, but I'm making a sweater now. See if there's something like that around for you to go to--or a friend to help you. Using different types of yarn on the same pattern can make a different looking scarf, too. If you can do the 2 basic stitches, you can make lots of different things by combining them in different ways. I haven't tried a blanket yet, so you're ahead of me there

I used menthol when i had a cold..it really tasted good! Just take it easy and don't over do. We will be thinking of you!
I tried knitting, I could do a few stiches and made a truly awful crooked scarf! But when I left the needles pointy side up on the couch..and Mike found them..the hard way, That was the end of it! I went back to crochet!!!!

Glad your feeling better MaryKay, I crochet and have never been able to get the knack of things when it comes to knitting but maybe I have just never had the right teacher.

There are several knitting instructions on utube that are good, and if you don't understand what she's doing you can replay it as many times as you want. I found them to be very helpful many times for different things. They cover everything from how to cast on to button holes. Google knitting lessons and pick which one you want.

cool Dolphin I will have to check that out when I have the time to sit there and try it out. I did pick up some knitting needles this past weekend at a steal so I got them ready. Of course I have enough yarn to last me for quite awhile hubby said I have enough to crochet the house a blanket lol.

I tried to crochet a baby blanket for my daughter before she was born.. yeah it fit the couch! my mom was a lefty, and one of the greats at knitting, needless to say I couldnt figure it out backwards!

I enjoy aplique and quilting tho!

Hehe Kimerpuff, we all have stories like your blanket It's so great to create something fun and it doesn't matter if it's knitting, crocheting, quilting, crosstitch or whatever. It can be kind of a Zen for me and the worries go away.

Wow...how moving her show is today. The woman whose husband shot off her face is on. She had the first face transplant in the US...she's legally blind. But, oh does she have spirit!!!! She doesn't care that she is "ugly"...she's so happy to be alive and to have great doctors.
