Oh my! Even lubricating is complex!! So, is it a coin toss for which to use?? :(

A dry engine seizes but you can get away with coin toss method on lightly torqued mod threads.
I used vaseline on aluminum tube mod threads w/o oxidation or galling issue.
Dry SS, brass and "silver" plated contacts work for a long time between cleanings.
Aluminum contacts need anti oxidation compound like noalox or ox-gard.

Lubricants main use is to protect MOVING parts from premature wear.
Mods do not get a lot of mechanical movement time.

Noalox, NO OX ID and other similar compounds are actually to delay/reduce/prevent Oxidation. This is especially important in applications where two dissimilar metals are in contact. < Stainless/Brass, Stainless/Aluminum,etc>
Preventing oxidation reduces the possibility of Seizing from molecular reactions or the different metals.

I agree and recommend, but also acknowledge it may be unnecessary on any All SS or All Brass Mod properly maintained.

i just received my copper vanilla mod and was researching what to use on the the threads. this is the best thing i have come up with. if anyone can think of a reason not to please reply.. 8 bucks for enough to last a life time i guess. as expensive as this mod was i want to do my best to take care of it...

Conductive Silver Grease

This conductive silver grease provides antistatic conductivity paired with excellent thermal conductivity between sliding surfaces. At the same time it provides protection from corrosion and moisture and reduces mechanical wear. Exhibits excellent lubrication properties and superb chemical resistance. Typical applications include lubrication of vacuum transfer rods (airlock on SEM), static grounding on seals or O-rings, heat dissipation and lubrication of switches and circuit breakers. Paste like consistency. Service temperature range is -50°C to 200°C (-58°F to 392°F). Packaging size is 7 grams in a syringe for easy application.

i suggest a toothbrush and soap, i used to use noalox, but current travels through threading and the gunkyness of noalox leads to voltage drop.....a toothbrush and soap makes everything nice and clean....unless it is absolutely necessary on a small part i dont use it anymore and get better performance and feel from my mod.....just a simple wash does the job.....then polish brass/copper...
