My experience with noalox has not been so good. That stuff likes to attract dirt. I just clean my threads with isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush.

I am an HVAC tech, and my mods go everywhere with me so I don't like to use noalox due to the dirt attraction issue. For those who keep their mods in clean environments noalox will increase time between cleanings.

Noalox Anti-Oxidant Compound

If your stuff looks like the packaging in that link, then yes, you have it. :)

Mine is in an aluminum foil tube that has the Car Quest logo.
Dielectric Grease I think it's called (not handy so I can't look).
From memory it says something like, "Prevents corrosion and unwanted arching for spark plug contacts."

Is this close enough to be used in lieu of Noalox?

ok,

first noalox is a semi conductor and it has zinc in it but was originally designed for aluminum as in NO ALuminum OXidiation., It doesnt increase conductivity it preserves it. ever notice the black junk in the threads of the battery cap or 510? this is what noalox helps prevent.

many mod makers say NOT to use it on silver plating as it will wear it off faster. (and silver is the most conductive material there is) you dont put something with less conductivity in the way.

if your looking to actually help conductivity there are several copper and carbon based compounds which will work much better while providing the same protection specifically designed for electric, electronic and switch contacts.

silver, while being highly conductive will also tarnish easier and should be cleaned regularly and left bare, (on mod pins we are only talking a few microns) and these treatments are too aggressive under pressure and turning of the battery etc. and will quickly grind it right off like liquid sandpaper.
