I'm a non-smoker and just smoke on social occasion. And I'm using the Vamo v2 for it. I usaully go for the 50/50 ratio mix since It gives me a nice flavor and vapor also, which I like :p But ratio are more of a personal preference. Get different samples with different ratio and see which you like more. For the PV, I recommend the eGO-C Twist or something basic, but if you want a bit more advanced, You can get the Vamo v2 or eVic on fasttech for a low price.

juice site: I like Alice in Vapeland, since they got some nice flavourful e-Juice with 0mg of nic. I usually smoke the fruity or candy/snack flavor one.

For reviews of juice, you can check this website out. Vapor Rater

I've been vaping for over a year. My 18 y/o daughter has never smoked, but took an interest in my vaping. I would often allow her to "sample" my new flavors.

As stated, she has never smoked, but has tried hookah with her friends at some hookah bars. Many of her friends and her older brother do smoke cigarettes. She asked for her own mod to vape NO-nicotine flavored e-liquid for her birthday. As she is 18 and could easily purchase her own e-cigarette, I did not see a particular problem of using a 0-nicotine e-cigarette. Knowing how teens of all ages tend to experiement (I admit that I did), if I could in any way influence her to not start using cigarettes then vaping a non-nicotine e-cig seemed like a good idea.

I got her a pink Altsmoke BB mod kit with some easy to fill tanks. We also picked out some 0-nic eliquid in her chosen flavors. She told me that since she has begun vaping, several of her smoking friends have gotten their own e-cigs and are now vaping instead of smoking.

For father's day my daughter, her boyfriend, and my son treated me to my first visit to a hookah bar. I was quite surprised of the similarity of hookah and vaping. My limited understanding is not all hookah is tobacco.

Alright, here is what I am looking at;

A cheap eGo kit for on the go:
$17.51 EGO-AS 6-in-1 USB Rechargeable 900mAh Electronic Cigarettes Health Keeping Set - black / US plug adapter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

A spinner battery:
Vision eGo Spinner 1300mAh Variable Volt Battery

With a tip:
Ceramic 901/510 Contoured Drip Tips

And a bridgeless atomizer:
Empiremods Bridge Free Dual Coil LR306 1.5ohm

Not sure if drip shields are all hype, but I would need an adaptor:
https://www.empiremods.com/product_p/510-901sts.htm

and the shield:
Empire Drip Shields

Other than the liquids, what else am I missing? I can use the charger from the ego kit with the spinner, correct?

another less fiddly option would be to simply get the passthrough dripper's kit from empire mods:
Empiremods eGo Passthrough Dripper's Starter Kit

and the spinner battery:
Vision eGo Spinner 1300mAh Variable Volt Battery

with a tip:
Ceramic 901/510 Contoured Drip Tips

And a couple clearomizers: (you cannot replace the heating core in these, correct?)
Bauway LR CE4 Clearomizer

I also have found variable voltage passtrough usb batteries. They seem like a really great choice for sitting at the computer, as I won't be burning through batteries. I could save quite a bit over the price of a spinner. But I haven't seen much mention about them...
$7.80 Variable Voltage USB Passthrough Rechargeable Electronic Cigarette at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Add that with the same cheap ego kit when I am on the go, the bridgeless atomizer, and a tip. Saves quite a bit of money, but less flexible. I suppose I could get that and just a spinner battery, but it seems batteries burn out pretty quickly? If that is the case, I see no reason to be spending premium on them for occasional convenience. (I can't exactly drip while driving a car, so I don't really need the variable. Just a small tank I can refill.)

As a side note, I am curious about what one would do with one of these double tanks I found! Is it for mixing flavors?
$10.38 VIVI NOVA V-core 2.0 Dual Coil Mods Double Layer Electronic Cigarette Atomizer for Ego (2-Pack / 2.0mL) - w/ carrying bag at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

WTH? Is this for what I think it is? I'm staying out of this one.

"Feature double-layer coil mods design, the above layer is suitable for E-solid use, the lower layer is suitable for tar oil use"

Good luck with purchasing from FastTech.

If you're planning to use the adapter with the 306 atomizer and the drip shield, this is the adapter that you're looking for: 510-510 Adapter (Sealed). And this is the type of drip-tip you'll need: Delrin 306 XL Drip Tip. The drip-tip you chose would only work if you get the 306 to 510 drip-tip adapter that I mentioned earlier.

Wow, does Empire Mods only have LR atomizers?!

If you're looking for flavor and not plumes of hot vapor, this is what I'ld recommend for a 306 because it has the option of 2.2ohm: 306 Atomizer - Avid Vaper.

The pass-through you linked to at Fasttech is also available at Discount Vapers. Unfortunately, according to Discount Vapers, the cord comes loose very easily and it's not likely to last long.

I'm not sure what to tell you. You're not even sure this is really going to even help you yet. So, you don't want to spend too much money right off until you're sure. I do know that I wouldn't bother with Fasttech for my basics. They may be ok for spares.

As long as you have 2 or more batteries (at least one of them a Spinner/Twist), a charger, and a variety of atomizers with drip-tips and/or clearomizers to try, then all you would need is a juice sampler.

My mother has also been interested in trying a PV to help with food cravings and what not but she doesn't smoke. The idea is great, get a little taste of what you want without the calories or fat of the actual product but the reality was not the same. There is no chewing action and the flavors were not strong enough to really kick the cravings.

Hi there! My name is Josh, and I am a representative for an electronic cigarette company

i'm new here, but i don't think you are supposed to be advertising like this. i believe there is a process to apply to moderators so that you can advertise in the appropriate sections. while you ARE also trying to give some good information at the same time, i don't think this is the place for biased sales pitches. people here are always willing and eager to try a new vendor out. i'd really recommend you go through the proper channels and i'm sure you'll get some business that way.

and if i'm wrong? i'm sure following posts will set me straight.

A suggestion, I would invest in an ego-c variable voltage, and a kanger evod.
That should be enough to get you started.
Because adjusting the voltage from how it has been explained to me
enhances the flavor of what u vape.
Lighter flavors lower voltage, heavier flavors higher voltage.
Hope that helps.
Also remember 0 nicotine juices as was mentioned in
previous posts.

Heck there have been some threads started where a person wanted to start vaping
to help himeslf to quit snacking, and a post in that hread where someone
actually lost weight weight vaping because of all the tasty flavors......
So fwiw have fun and enjoy.
The more the merrier, and the more people with us purists
the less against us......:D

I have been doing what you're doing OP. I think you're making this too complicated personally. I would go ahead and get a smokeless image cheap starter kit with zero nic cartos to just even see if vaping makes you happy.
Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

I thought having a cigalike would mean a lot to me but it is not the holding but the smoking that it turns out I like, so I made a really simple epipe:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-pipe-models/425578-simplest-e-pipe-ever.html

I also have a lavatube and some ego batteries, and tanks and carto tanks etc. It is all good and it all depends how much of a perfectionist you are and how much vapor you need to be happy and how much fiddling around you want to do.

Finding a good zero nic juice is much harder because all the flavors are kind of muted with zero nic. Good luck on that.

Greetings, Imaya!

I chose to vape to help with my food cravings, myself. I know many disaprove of it, but I don't care. My husband was also trying to quit smoking at the time (still is) and I thought if I was using them, it would encourage him to.

I started with a V2 pass-through. V2 tends to be expensive, though. At least at the time I ordered from them. After some searching, I found the Volt from Smokeless Image. They are less expensive than V2's and I didn't notice a difference in quality. They have a varity of eCig batteries, with different colors and LED's. All are 808 threads. My husband was looking for something pen-sized, so we started out with the smaller batteries. We moved on to the X2 batteries, which are bigger and their charge lasts longer. They now have a spinner, which is a variable voltage battery. I have yet to try it, though. The one thing I liked about them, was that they have the pre-filled 808 cartomizers in variety packs. My favorite was their Sweet Sampler with Cherry, Vanilla, Chocolate, Grape and Watermelon flavors. I tend to prefer their Classic Grape over the new Grape. They sell the eLiquids in bottles, too, and you can buy blank cartomizers to use with them, or clearomizers.

I got one of the original eGo-T setups, but hated the atomizers. I mainly went with it, because the tanks wouldn't crack with my favorite juices. Smokeless Image doesn't make anything out of Pyrex or Polypropalyne. Now the eGo's tend to come with clearomizers, which are much better, in my opinion, but they can still crack.

I just ordered myself an iTaste MVP, which is a box type setup. I've been told it's an AVP. From the pictures, it looks very nice. I've also ordered a Kanger Protank made out of Pyrex.

My favorite eLiquid suppliers are EliteVaporWorks (free shipping and when you buy three big bottles, you get one free) and ECBlends. ECBlends has many flavors to choose from and you can customize them with extra sweetener or double flavor. You can even make your own blends.

As for Fast Tech, I've heard mostly good about them. Some have had their items delivered in just ten days from them. I found a knock-off eGo kit that I wanted to try (it was pink with what looked like pastel gems on it and had pink clearomizers), but I didn't order it because I was told many of their eGo style batteries are DOA. It's only about $25, so I might just order it anyway, as it was so cute!

Good luck with your search on the best eCig setup for yourself!

Very overwhelmed over all of the e-cig options! When I began to look into them, I was not expecting them to be so in-depth. I have spent hours trying to sort through all this information, and have found myself a bit stumped. Mostly, there are plenty of kits that would allow a smoker to jump right in, get their nicotine fix, and figure stuff out as they go based on smoking habits... but what about a noobie who is looking for the best flavor experience without nicotine? For me, everything else is secondary to a setup that maximizes flavor, and I read that some models burn the flavor. There also seem to be specific parts needed to change flavors on the fly (the drip tips), and some seem to be less efficient/ more wasteful than others?

I need help choosing an e-cig kit to get me started, as I find my situation a bit unique. I don't care how big it is, what it looks like, etc. It's nice to have a decent battery, but in all honesty, it mostly is to help anxiety related oral fixation habits while at the computer. So, I will pretty much always be next to a power source. Don't care about how much vapor it puts out, and I can figure out how to use a manual inhaler just fine. I would like to not spend too much on the unit, as I also need money for a large assortment of flavors to try. I am having trouble finding sampler packs from the good vapor places as well. If it tastes ....ty, I am going to go eat the real thing instead, which is something I am hoping to help curb. Where are some good places to find good sampler packs? So far, I found Build Your Own Fun Pack but would like to try other packs from others as well.

Alright, ordered some juices from ECBlend. They have a lot of options, and small sizes, so they seem like a good place to start!

I settled on getting a VV passthrough model, after some research. KGO V.V. 650mAh

I know it usually isn't a good idea to only get one setup, but I am not going to bite anyone's head off waiting for a replacement to arrive if this one fails. :) So I am going to stick to one to just try it out before jumping in too deep. Still going with the bridgeless atomizers for home, but I am having a hell of a time making up my mind about what kind of clearomizer or cartomizer to go with. I didn't want to go with cartomizers (I read the taste isn't as good, and it seems they are more expensive to get replacements for), but it seems all the clearomizers except the really high end stuff is made out of polycarbonate. Also, finding stuff with the standard resistance is really tough! Everything is low resistance, which my research told me I shouldn't use with the KGO-VV.

Very nice, passthrough you're getting, Imaya!

I had to search Google Images for some charts on VV's and such. I am clueless when it comes to that stuff. More like, I tend to forget information, so I've been blogging replies to a few of my questions I've asked to save for a rainy day! :)

I hope you are happy with your eLiquids from ECBlends. I am vaping my Cheesecake I just received today from them!

Good luck and keep in touch, if you'd like! :)

If you are a smoker going to vaping is a huge step in a good direction as you are leaving behind 4000 chemicals, 60 known carcinogens and tar and other particulate matter.

Even with 0 nic you are adding risk factors you need to consider. Not everything is known about vaping and while PG and VG are pharmaceutical grade there has not been a lot of study on inhaling it - even if it is used at rock concerts in fog machines. On top of that the majority of flavorings are food grade and some have been processed with solvents and other things that have not been studied for the impact on someone's health. And I am sure you have read many posts of people who find out, although they can wash with soaps containing PG, use cosmetics containing PG and so on - turn out to be sensitive to PG when inhaled. Inhalation is a more direct way of intaking anything short of IV injection and more likely to cause issues.

While a smoker is definitely a step up going to vaping the same cannot be said for a non-smoker picking up the 'habit'. The other thing, and any good psychologist will tell you, oral fixation is not something to give into nor treated by just providing a method to continue the need and activity. IE Vaping is not a weight loss product and won't substitute for eating. There are a ream of methods that successfully treat oral-fixation issues that do not involve anything that adds anything to your system that is not the same as breathing air.

If it just seems like a 'cool' thing to do or because it comes with a ready made social group or whatever, so be it. As others have said its your life and your health. but realize that when reports talk about 'safety' its always, when you read the complete report in accordance with smokers switching to vaping. Safety can be a relative term, even when it comes from prescription drugs. You might have to have a certain drug to get better even if you risk side effects but because you are sick the risk is worth it. If your not sick the taking the same medication is not worth the risks of side effects.

Many people who vape actually prefer the taste of a cartomizer over a clearomizer (myself included), especially in a carto-tank. Cartomizers cost about $2 each and will easily go through 30 ml (large bottle of juice) before needing replaced. For as little as you are likely to vape, one cartomizer could last you 3 - 4 weeks or longer.

If you are having problems finding the standard or high resistance devices that you want, let us know what website you want to purchase from along with a link, and then someone can help you find the appropriate resistance.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3230-1-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html

The juices I ordered, I should mention, are almost pure VG (as low as ECBlend would allow). Trying to keep the chemicals low, plus I don't want/ need throat hit. I read that the wicks in clearomizers have trouble with these, however. I ordered some pure PG for diluting as well, in case I have problems.

I came across CE2 style DCT tank cartomizers I am not sure if I have been missing something as I look at cartomizers, since as soon as I see those long, thin tubes I assume they are stuffed with the cotton filter stuff. But, this cartomizer with the wicks seems like what I am looking for! It also comes in higher resistance. I still need a tank, something that is polycarb free, but also small. I most likely won't need a lot in the tank, and also want to be able to smoke a bit for a few hours, then change flavors. All the polycarb free tanks I come across are quite large, starting at 3.5ml. I would love to find something less than 2ml, but would even settle for that size if that is all I can find. I keep coming across tanks with no explanation as to what they are made out of, so I assume polycarb unless otherwise noted. Pyrex seems to be what I want, but I can't find a small tank. I would be willing to pony up the premium for a small pyrex tank (the large ones are $12-$15, which seems reasonable, but they are too big!) I am going to get the battery from hoosierecig, the bridgeless atomizers from mountain oak vapors, and a backup plain ego battery setup from china (probably fasttech). Juice is ordered already, so it has time to sit.

As much as I would love the box mods that have been mentioned, they are out of my budget :( I had no idea how expensive this stuff was when I began to look into it! I am pleasantly surprised to find so much variety and availability, yet quite overwhelmed. Mostly, I am geeking out on the fantastic juice options!

For the doubters, I am looking for an alternative to far more dangerous chemicals that a doctor would prescribe. I try to keep my life as holistic as possible, and VG spiked with fruit extracts that some mom and pop makes in their kitchen scares me a lot less than big pharm. One would be silly to assume this is the first thing I have tried, or that I haven't tried everything else the average person could think of trying before giving up. I am very, very stubborn and persistent. :) I have been working on this for 25 years, and have long since found there is no 'miracle fix'. Instead, I look for small things to address very specific needs and problems, all of which eventually add up to progress. Work in progress, I am not expecting miracles. Just another tool to nudge me in the right direction.
